Never change a (winning) team

Tough call but as we're "rotating" Lenny back in anyway (daft not to !), would also be tempted to start Hannah giving Pittman (look knackered by the end Sat due to enormous workrate IMO) a mini break, using him as super sub if required + keeping him fresh for Torquay (no walkover in good form !).

Also wonder if Mackreth did half as bad as some think Saturday...
Got to the byline on a few occasions winning corners.
Pace could also prove useful on the counter...
Again, barely featured so hopefully should only improve...
Is Paddy miles ahead of him ?
Not so sure, maybe it's more about 3 in the middle and Paddy being useful left side.

Or is 4-5-1 an option away from home ? It worked on Saturday !

Tricky one I'll go...

.........Hannah..John-Lewis
Neilson...Clay....Brown....Mackreth
Magnay...Pearson..Toto....Bignot
..................McKeown

Subs: Walker, Doig, McLaughlin, Disley, Pittman

I think so too and I like it, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Hannah start instead of Pittman based on Hurst's judgement of relative fitness/freshness. I think 80's makes a good point about Mackreth's pace on the break though.

This for me though i think a fresh and champing at the bit Hannah may get a start. Pittman not played a lot the last few seasons and looked to be feeling it a bit on Saturday.

Know what you mean !
It's almost like these big games (e.g. playoff 2nd leg) are made for him.
Thought about mentioning it (and including him) myself.
Then quickly decided against a ruddy good think, pen & paper etc + most importantly, the possibility of having to write shed loads justifying all the "tinkering" of MY selection.

Guessing we'll start Tommy's team too (probably hardest to question except possible lack of width etc) too.
Or will we ?...

Guy on the OS (Jack Harvey sounds like a knowledgeable bloke !) says:
"Craig Disley has netted in his last two appearances at Sincil Bank and that record could tempt Hurst to hand the skipper a recall to the starting XI."
http://www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/fixtures-results/match-preview/index.aspx#uG9XdKwyOWhwBUPv.99

I just wonder, is there anything revealing about Hurst saying...
"This game is a special one at a different time from what we've been used to. For those players that haven't experienced it, they need to be ready because it really is a unique atmosphere."

Is he thinking big match record, temperament, big game needs the captain, experience, attacking flair etc ?
Let's face it, they're all good reasons !
I wonder if Dis might be better in a 3 man central midfield. (depending on his match fitness v freshness)
But then again you're arguably more defensive + is it gonna be about midfield possession or more a "rough and tumble" one with players head down flying down the wing any chance they get etc etc etc (don't ask me, it sure aint easy !)

FFS Hurst too many options !
Can someone have a word and tell him it's not good enough ?
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Shorty out !

OMG was it you who gave me the green tick ?
Nearly had a heart attack from shock when I saw it.
Only another 221 to go to break even lol (no support desired, at least disagreements make for more interesting discussion)

Magnay at CB ?
Or you thinking Doig = extra height advantage ?

Doig for height in the centre with Magnay and Mclaughlin as sort of wing backs

Nah, changing to 3 at the back to suit our fit personnel is one thing, but changing because of the (average) opposition is another.

Arguably an excellent call !

Interesting...(see 2 below ?)

Now I see why it's not easy !

ON REFLECTION...

What was the best option v Lincoln ?...

Still not sure ! (based on reports, commentary, highlights)

Was it... ?

1. (3-4-1-2)
...............McKeown

7. (3-4-3)

Or something else ?
YOU TELL ME !!!!

There's ? with quite a few.
I'd guess maybe 2, 3 or 4 but defensive.
5 possible but not keen on Nsiala at RB in general.

So to those who said Hurst "got it wrong" (including myself) please say what he should have done cos I can't see ANY obvious selection (even with hindsight) without possible cracks.

Team looks in need of possible repairs to me.
If Pearson is out long term there's a good case for a CB.
But would also like to see someone who could play left (wing) back (i.e. move Magnay to RB) OR as another left winger. (Arnold fit?)
Could it be Winfarrah ?!...
I accept it aint easy getting the right players in.

Taking a break so good luck v Torquay !

80s please find something else to do with your time.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I'd stick by it 80s. The goals came from sloppiness. Would 3 at the back have made a difference? (And Pearson went off injured leaving us with only 2 anyway)

Not sure of this formation RoboCod but I see the back four are all a plus, midfield not much response and looks like they could get decimated and  the forwards look like the are all sleeping. .

Sean Newton reveals what was behind his 'wild' celebrations against the Town fans ! http://www.lincolnshireecho.co.uk/Lincoln-City-s-Sean-Newton-reveals-reasons/story-22911631-detail/story.html

I was right near the corners that he took, no more shouts or abuse than you'd get at any game. Has this guy ever played at anything like a high level ?

The age old 'Shhh'-finger to lips is seen as wild celebrations here, a bit of banter as abuse, thank goodness there was no crotch grabbing to upset the poor dears.
