The Icenian Prediction League.FINAL WEEK

On the day The Fishy was closed down I was about to gauge interest in a new Icenian Prediction League. Obviously it would have to run on a smaller scale to the usual 32 entrants but if I could get a minimum of say 16 people interested, I would be willing to run something similar again.

I have quite enjoyed doing the last 4 or 5 Leagues and I'm sure most of the entrants have enjoyed participation. If you are interested just reply to this thread.

If you get 22 people how about doing it as a league head to head over the course of the season

I list 6 games for each Saturday (usually 1 Prem, 1 Championship, 1 League One, 1 League Two and 2 BSP). You need to predict the correct scoreline for each game.

If you get the scoreline spot on you get 3 points, if you predict the correct result (either home, away or draw) BUT get the scoreline wrong you get 1 point. You also have 1 game which you can Nap (IE the forecast you are most confident about) and any points gained on that game are doubled.

If you get the total of goals in the 6 games correct you get 2 bonus points or if you are 1 out either way you get 1 bonus point.

In previous seasons I have run it as 4 Groups of 8 with the Top 2 in each Group at the end (12 weeks) going into the quarter-finals which are then played with exactly the same scoring system, but on a one off knock out basis through to the final.

This format may change though depending on how many people are interested.

I have thought about doing something similar to that in the past but decided against it because if someone is lagging a long way behind in the league they would probably lose interest and not predict.

We'll see how much interest I get and then have a think about the format. If I did it on a straight league basis I could also run an "FA Cup style" knockout competition throughout the season too.

What about everyone who enters plays head to head once after that split into two leagues and each play each other twice to decide champions of league 1 and 2

I'll wait until we see what kind of interest we get first and then make a decision what format to go with nearer the start of the season. If we only get 10 or less people interested it's not really going to be worth the bother of running it.

I'd like to play this time Les. Less holidays booked this time around.
