As some of you will know from my nagging on FB and from the local GY Telegraph, I'm Treking up Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa in 3 weeks time.
On my 7 day trek, I am intending to wear my Grimsby Town shirt on summit day and i'm hoping to stick a GTFC mini kit on the wooden plinth at the top of the mountain. (I will get photo proof)

So is there any unusual places that you have worn your Mariners shirt with pride?

Also if you do care to sponsor me on my trek, all monies raised is for Marie Curie Cancer Care which i'm now only about £600 from reaching my target.  I know some of you have already!
Please read more via my link............ http://www.justgiving.com/SimonStephenson-MountKiliTrek
Many Thanks

I wear my Town shirt all over S E Asia where I work. Loads of people know about Town in places like Singapore and Burma now.
I have to buy a new shirt as I have given mine to my Radio Op. He publishes a football paper in Rangoon and he’s going to publish a story about the history of Town next month in his paper.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Good luck mate
Will also be wearing my town top in Tanzania in July!

The only other strange place I've worn it was on the gondolas in Venice the day after we got to the Jpt final.

Had a picture of me in a town shirt published in SWWF some years ago: inside the Artic Circle in Alaska, just by the sign on the way to 'Deadhorse' that said 'Top of the world' had my scarf with me too!

Son and me outside Barcelona ground by gate number one both in Town shirts.

I think I wore mine while climbing Rangitoto (which I accept is slightly smaller than Kilomanjaro). Can't check as I don't really take snaps when on holiday (or at any other time to be honest).

But isn't Jesus a Town fan.......he wouldn't be pleased with that!!

I had a trip round Eastern / Central Europe and always looked to see if there was a game on in any city we visited, I was travelling with a Gimp mate and we each wore our teams shirts to: Sparta Prague's Toyata Arena, Slavia Prague's National Stadium, Dubrovnik (playing a champ league qualifier vs Man U in the Ferenk Puskas Stadium - we went in the Dubrovnik end!!), some Croatian Div 2 team whom I forget the name and Hertha Berlins Olympic Stadium.

We had great photos of the both of us in each stadium, had ideas of telling the clubs before the next game we were due to play, would surely have got in the programme for that. We changed the cameras memory card in the last week of the holiday and that was the last we ever saw of those photo's..................There'll be some confused Slovakian that has them somewhere?

I currently live in Thailand, have a season ticket with a team called Thai Port (yep, they have a boat on the badge and are located in the port, just like Town). I often wear my shirt to games. I'll post a great wears wally style spot the town shirt picture I have of a game when home from work.

My various Town shirts went everywhere with me whilst I was in the RAF, Bahrain where I bumped into another town fan, Sao Paolo in Brazil, Montevideo in Uruguay, Port Stanley in the Falklands, Kuwait, Sydney, San Fransisco, Washinton DC, Tampa, Belize, Kenya, Oman, Saudi Arabia and left an old mid 90's Ciba sponsored shirt in a brit bar called Sherlock Holmes in the West Edmonton Mall in Canada where they had all manner of football shirts on the walls, don't know if it's still there.

Nothing spectacular but i can remember in Magaluf playing footy with some other English residents of the complex and a Coventry fan would'nt stop going on about my town shirt. He could not believe our new kit maker was nike! Ha ha i told him it's cos' we were going places and had a millionaire chairman and we would be in the premiership in the next 5 years and just cos' of the Nike thing he was convinced!

Wore mine in Florida in 2002, ran into another town fans also wearing one, was hiding behind a sales counter singing Mariners, and this chap was looking all round to see where it was coming from. Also got some strange looks in 2008 sat in Manchester airport waiting to go to Florida again, the day of the paint pot trophy.Wherever  i go abroad i always take a Town shirt and always run into someone from home.

I've got a picture of me wearing the last nike one in some dirty desert temple while on a quad biking
day trip in sharm el sheik a few years ago. Got on of them black and white tea towels round my face/head
as well that they give to everyone. I do look a bit "dodgy"!

Actually wouldn't mind using it as an avatar but haven't worked out how to do it yet, anyone? (in simple talk please)

Other places - new york, on top of what was then the twin towers, barbados, cancun - where some idiot
asked if it was a newcastle shirt, numpty. spain, tenerife - where i watched whits split als lip and last week
in lanzarote where i asked why a lad from donny supported man u and had a soft spot for barnsley?!

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

The Old Forge it is called John - In the summer months i believe you can get there by boat from Mallaig, I went from Kinloch Hourn to Inverie on foot, Camped at Barrisdale then onto Inverie for a well earned few pints and a comfy bed for the night.   I was in the bar with my Town top on, The Old Forge is the most remotest pub in the british isles i believe, It is well worth a trip, The food and ale are very nice.

Also if you do care to sponsor me on my trek, all monies raised is for Marie Curie Cancer Care which i'm now only about £600 from reaching my target.  I know some of you have already!
Please read more via my link............ http://www.justgiving.com/SimonStephenson-MountKiliTrek
Many Thanks

Pompeii is a personal favourite. I always wear it in Saint-Etienne. My best occasion was at one of the Disney parks in Orlando and I was walking up these steps  when this small kid comes running up beside me panting and shouts "are yous Dunfermline fans as well?!" and I just looked at him laughing and went "no, Grimsby mate".

was in Tunisia when we beat Fulham to stay  up......kept popping to same shop and had 2 or 3 england tops on during week and everytime i was in there the owner was offering me the equivalent of about 5 pound for which ever England top i had on......on the sunday of the fulham match popped in to shop with Town top on (not frst time i wore it all week just first time in shop in it ) the owner offered my about 15 quid for it he was so keen....anyway later that day after i found out we had stayed up took an england top down there and got about a fiver of him for it ...he was smiling loads .....then just took off town top off and gave it to him.......he was going mad.....we was leaving on the wednesday ......went down for breakfast on the wed's and he was there waiting ......200 fags and  bottle of local vodka  wouldnt take a penny ........bloke behind reception who spoke better english said he was absolutley over moon with town top ........and had been up hotel twice to find out when we was going so he could catch us

That is such a heart-warming story. Reminds me of the Parable of the Sower (or whatever it's called).

"Some fell on rocky ground (ManU supporting scum) and was losteth for none shall grow on this waste of space. Some fell on fallow ground (whatever that may be-eth)  and groweth not for it was as infertile even as a biddy that was 91 (Liverpool). Some did grow a bit but still dieth for it had not the depth-eth to support a strong harvest (Spurs).

But from some groweth an mighty black n white barmy Ay-rab. And so pleasdeth was he that he did smite the Hullite.  And verily the Ford did looketh upon His works and it was good. Eth."

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

Good effort Si, I've worn my Town top in Canada, Turkey, Afghan, Iraq, Italy, Oman, Cyprus, Falklands and it's surprising how many people come and chat to you.  Also you get to flower up our proud history and the big names we have had at our club and the teams that we have beaten along the way.

Wore mine sat in a hotel club bar in Feurteventura in 2005 watching the Town v Spurs Carling cup match on the big screen, only me and about a hundred Tottenham fans who were all taking the p*ss. That was of course until Kalala let fly and scored. Only me and the barman (an Arsenal fan) shot up, fists in the air. Two minutes later only me and him were  in the bar. Wore the shirt for the rest of the week around the hotel just to annoy.

The only reason I knew of it to be fair is because it is actually me!

I've been living in Bangkok and this is my Thai team, Thai Port FC - It was a game against our fierce rivals and we'd just got a goal back from being 3-0 down................hence the angry man celebration!!
