If I were the managers I would seriously use Matt to inspire the players. Such a young lad but incredibly brave and kept going right to the end. If only our players had the same mentality as he did. RIP.

RIP Matt and my condolencies to his family and friends.
Makes you think how vunerable we all are.

Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play.
It is bound up with hatred,jealousy,boastfullness,
disregard of all rules and a sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence;
In other words it is war without the shooting.

How very sad. Matt's comments (and the comments of a number of other posters) throughout this thread are a reminder of how difficult some people's lives are and how fortunate those of us in good health are. Also makes a game of football seem rather irrelevent ('though Matt himself would probably disagree).

Condolensces to all who knew and loved Matt.

There's a crooked street in Grimsby Town
It's a well worn path I've travelled down
Now there's ruin in my name, I wish i'd never got off the train
And I wish I'd listened to the words you said....
...Don't go down to Freeman Street
Don't go down to Freeman Street
You'll be lost and never found
You can never turn around
Don't go down to Freeman Street

I hope you RIP young Mariner.
