If only people would protest against the fuel prices and increasing VAT, I am glad the students have made their feeling clear, shame some of it was hi-jacked by thugs amd criminals!

It seems somewhat ironic that those making the biggest noise, at least in my experience, about the students smashing up some buildings in London are those who don't blink an eye at involving themselves in anti-social behaviour at the footy.

Well just restrict your male to male massage business to your home only, instead of offering to travel.  Then the fuel price is only passed on to your "clients, with a niggly groin stain"

(Tin hat on, awaits "incoming")

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Sorry, are people defending the students?

Students are some of the most annoying people on the planet, they tend to be self-absorbed, pretentious and even worst than that, socialists.

They're all over the media at the minute (in particular that ...great lover of socialism the BBC) whining about how hard done by they are. They bang on about education being their "right" and yes, they are almost correct but while they have the right to education further education ie: college or university is not a right.

Our little piece of the world is in the sh*t, Public services are being cut, the police force, the NHS, the fire service are facing cuts, the MOD are having MASSIVE cuts, the Nimrod's have been mothballed, the harriers retired early arc royal is now scrap metal. What makes the students think that they should be saved from cuts or that they shouldn't have any sort of austerity measures like the rest of us face?

Even if I did support their cause (which, blatantly, I don't) is daubing graffiti over a memorial to Churchill necessary? Does attacking a car carrying the next king of the England while chanting "Tory scum" (erm, are the royals conservative? Or are the soap dodgers confusing being Tory and being rich again?) and "off with their heads" help the cause? Is attacking police officers a legitimate way of protesting?

Once you attack police, throw items and generally act like a complete Neanderthal how do you expect those police officers act? Everyone has the right to peacefully protest, what they were doing was not peaceful so get off the TV and stop complaining that the police reacted in kind.

I don't think the majority of students don't expect to avoid cuts, they are just annoyed at the huge increase to their fees they may have to pay  back!. Also the Armed forces have wasted MILLIONS of pounds over the past few years, watch/read the news today!

Go and research students, not all are hippies, some work bloody hard when studying....though I didn't back from 2000-2003, also I was in favour of the Iraq war!

Possibly ignorant and ill informed, but I do know a few students and have met a great number, the ones I've met (including some friends) are self-absorbed, pretentious socialists. Some do work hard, most of them p*ss their money up the wall. I have a number of friends who have been to uni and p*ssed all the money up the wall and contributed nothing, many now work menial jobs doing things completely unrelated to their degrees  but have spent a good portion of their lives basically "dossing". Anyway, a little bit of stereotyping never hurt did it? The students are accusing everyone who doesn't agree with them of being posh, tories. At least I didn't call them soap dodgers ...

They're all over the media at the minute (in particular that ...great lover of socialism the BBC) whining about how hard done by they are. They bang on about education being their "right" and yes, they are almost correct but while they have the right to education further education ie: college or university is not a right. Though a jump from £3000 up to £9000 is extreme don't you think?

That is extreme but that is a figure which has been as far as I know plucked out of the air by the media there is "potential" that fees could rise to 9k just like there is "potential" that town will get automatic promotion. Anyway, 9k for a degree which would allow potential earnings for people to be in excess of 60k a year ... doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. It won't affect those that really want a degree, they'll work for it and they'll be the ones who will get jobs and pay it back, this will have more effect on those that see further eductaion as a holiday ... why should I pay for someone's 4 year holiday?

Our little piece of the world is in the sh*t, Public services are being cut, the police force, the NHS, the fire service are facing cuts, the MOD are having MASSIVE cuts, the Nimrod's have been mothballed, the harriers retired early arc royal is now scrap metal. What makes the students think that they should be saved from cuts or that they shouldn't have any sort of austerity measures like the rest of us face? Also the Armed forces have wasted MILLIONS of pounds over the past few years, watch/read the news today!

I did watch/read the news it was full of crying protesters, I'd rather we spent money on having a defence system I'd rather we had arc royal and some harriers at least until we get the new carrier and some raptors, I'd rather funding went to the MOD than to students I'd rather our front line troops had decent equipment. So the students have to pay more back, I'd rather they pay for their own eduction rather than I did. I work hard for my money, selfish, maybe but I want to keep it and once these students have their degrees then their earning powers should be such that they can afford to pay it back

Even if I did support their cause (which, blatantly, I don't) is daubing graffiti over a memorial to Churchill necessary? Does attacking a car carrying the next king of the England while chanting "Tory scum" (erm, are the royals conservative? Allegedly being the key word here, so far we have only heard his version of events, police have to be and are accountable, an enquiry has been launched and we'll find out about that incident. I just fail to see how the riots, as that is what they were can be defended in anyway rioting will not solve anything and if anything does nothing but weaken the cause

Not saying I condone the actions before you start, I am just debating your comments!

No, that's fine its a discussion forum and we're having a discussion - I like that, we're supposed to have a different opinion what's the point in posting if everyone feels the same? ... anyway it's done wonders for my reputation score.

One with no abuse or angry remarks......it feels so wrong doing this on The Fishy......now where are the advertising hoardings I need to kick to get nicked

I do honestly feel there will be more protestest for other groups, as the country is out of control and people have had enough of those at the top (this and former governments) taking the urine and expecting us to pay up, it doesn't wash and it has to change!

This system which the students are apparently so mad about would, if it had been in place when I graduated, mean I hadn't paid back a single penny in six and a half years compared to the cash I have paid back. These ill-informed turds haven't read the policy.

As much as I would like to see the offenders in the riots hung, drawn and quartered.  Then dug up and hung, drawn and quartered again, I don't think they represent the vast majority of Students.  It annoys me that these protests take place.  You get an education that (hopefully) leads to a well paid job.  Thus enabling you to pay back for the education you have had.  If you don't get a decent job, yo don't pay it back.  Seems like a bargain to me.  However, the beauty of this country is the folk do have the right to protest PEACEFULLY if they so wish.  But any demonstration (either right or left) pretty much gets hijacked by the lunatic fringe.  Don't ban demonstations, just HAMMER MERCILESSLY those that abuse the privilage.  And just for the record, I have condemned (and still do) those damaging hoardings at Burton, but no-one will convince me the morons that desecrated the war memorial are not far bigger scum than the Burton lot.

Well i suppose a first time offender could get such a penalty for one of the higher assault charges against a member of the public or a bog standard assault on a PC.
Cant recall any reports of supporters clashing so i guess its down to violence against the constabulary.....my dear Watson.

What everyone seems to forget with student loans is that while not being paid back they accrue interest and if someone does not get to the pay back threshhold for say 10 yrs after they graduate they could be paying it back for 20 yrs. Its alright the politicians coming up with these ideas, but they got there Uni ed for free and also had taxpayers money to spend on beer in the form of grants.

me for one is just about getting fed up of the treatment that genuine town fans get  on their travels and as much as i dont want to dig up old terriortry,,but i,m affraid old habits die hard and its possible a few people might come out of retirement if ever the occasion arises again where town fans are getting mis treated!

This is the funniest comment ever. Oh no if people keep getting locked up for breaking the law at town matches a bunch of old geezers who were football hooligans 3 decades ago might come out of retirement and have a tear up.

What do you plan to do? fight the police with your mobility scooters and false teeth?

they got 15 months, good, can i have their  methadone rations? just think how much better the day at burton would have been if people could control their emotions and not drink themselves into oblivion. some idiots went there with the sole intention of causing havoc and now they are all whining when they get their just deserts, they should have thought about this when they were chucking chairs through windows and hitting female police officers with lumps of wood.the sad fact is these clowns probably don't go to games where it won't "kick off" yet we the normal fans are treated like scum everywhere we go.all we need to do now is see that toffy-nosed son of the pink floyd drummer who was trying to pull the union flag off the cenotaph in london get a similar sentence, its funny how we keep seeing these well-off sons of rock stars getting into trouble isn't it? didn't that sharp object ottis ferry son of brian do something similar a while ago? i bet that little toff upstart didn't get punished either..............sharp object.

Just for the record i wasnt actually talking about my good self! The point i,m trying to make is for some reason Town fans get treated like 2nd class citizens and hearded like cattle where ever we go,whether we have our kids or our elderly parents with us!Anybody who,s travelled away with town on a regular basis will tell you the same!Just one example that this treatment is continuing was at tamworth when a welcoming commitee at sheffield and then again at tamworth train station where we were met by 40/50 police ,some on horseback and other officers with dogs,,if you keep kicking a dog,,soooner or later that dog will bite you back, that was my point!

Certain police forces in particular like to wind up, I remember us being taken to Sheffield, when we needed to go to Doncaster, we had been subjected to riot police at Rotherham station and then was kept on a platform by riot police at Sheffield for over an hour.

Coming home we had loads of old bill on the train, one who looked like Fred Elliot, was taunted with a chant of "I say I say" until he flipped past Scunthorpe   He told me to stop singing

South Yorkshire police love to escort us home, I think they really come for day but stay for week .

Notts old billl love to escort us and treat us like cattle in fact most Northern police forces do. It is about time this was uncovered and show the public what really happens!

Many coppers have said that they don't mind doing 'riot duty' at big games because you get to have a ruck...however regardless of that, these people did break the law and need to be punished in whatever way the judge seems fit. Yes, custodial sentences are in some respects a little harsh but the justice system doesn't always like pplaying fair, trust me, when you work with the people i do you find that out quickly.

You break the law and get caught you know you are not in change of your own destiny. That day will be remembered for many an embarressement, unfortunatly not just the spineless lacklustre performance of the team..

The thing that amazes me is in that newspaper report were people over thirty with responsible jobs. At that age more than likely they would have a family which puts more responsibilty on them.  What the hell were they doing acting like irresponible 18 year olds, although to be honest when my kids were eighteen if the acted like that they would have been sorted out sharpish, and I would not have imagined them doing such a stupid thing. It's a bit pathetic isn't it,some overweight past it trying to relive his youth. The thoughtlessness of it too, ensuring that all our respectable fans get treated like thugs at away games because these muppets want to misbehave,is 15 months enough, perhaps casting them into a pit and stoning them would solve it.

The smaller teams further south do tend to be 'better' hosts to us. Kidderminster is a great ground with fantastic food.

It is our localish areas that treat us something out of the late 70's

oh dear,if you look at the overtones of his post, its suggests him and his mates need a police escort everywhere they go,why would this be then sherlock?  iv'e seen a train carriage after it has had town "fans" travel on it,when i pay for my train ticket the price is sky high,i wonder why?possibly to pay for repairs   for damage caused by idiots? they aren't even a proper firm are they, just a bunch of scruffy spotty chavs and a few  40+ beer bellied losers who won't grow up. im not being judgemental in  any way as you suggest,iv'e seen these idiots first hand and i know the individuals concerned, and they are all clowns, what part of this don't you understand?

Bryant, 35, of Hawkins Grove, Grimsby, was seen encouraging others to invade the pitch, then pushing through stewards and was seen damaging hoardings.

Firstly, let me just say I in no way condone the scenes at Burton. However, the quote I've taken from that article seems both harsh, and out of kilter. Obviously I don't know the full facts of the incident, but for someone to get the same sentence for pushing through stewards, as someone who assaulted a police officer seems ridiculous!

Surely it depends on how he 'pushed through the stewards' and the behaviour he showed at the same time.

Also if he was encouraging people to enter the pitch then he may have been viewed as an orchestrator resulting in a larger sentence than the normal pitch encroachment.

True. The interest though 'is' fairly negligable. At least mine was, being exactly even with inflation. But yeah still all adds up. And also you have to consider that the price has gone up for a qualification which has decreased massively in worth since degrees are pretty much ten to the penny these days. And some of the people that hold degrees frankly fecking astonishes me and makes me think they're just giving the things away now.

Hardy anything happened at Burton. Bit of a pitch invasion and a bit of bravado.

Completely OTT reaction in my opinion considering the horrific circumstances. The Luton fans did a lot worse and as far as I know nothing happened to them.

My student loan expired when i reached a certain age, I did not have to pay tuition fees.
My degree is in a subject relevent to local industry, However there are a lot of airy fairy degrees in such things as media, film studies etc, just an excuse to keep the youth of today off the jobless figures.
It's all a con

That's fair enough, like I said I don't know the full details. I just think that it's an OTT reaction, given the facts presented in the article.

None of the 'Burton 4' had any previous and all got 15 months jail.
What a fcukin joke the system for dealing with 'football lads' has become.
Basically, they got locked up for being aggressive and smashing a pub up - a few frightened people but no real victims.
This happens every weekend in most towns because people get drunk.
Dodds in a tw@t of a copper without a clue of how to deal with football fans and should learn from his predecessors rather than acting the hard man.

Anyone sent to jail for 15 months for what happened at Burton has a right to feel very hard by in my humble opinion.

Yes, they deserve punishing but I'm sure we all agree the severity of the punishment must fit the crime. 15 months in jail is an appalling decision.

Would be interested to know what other crimes carry a similar sentence just to put it in some perspective. I couldn't really say if it's fair or harsh, sounds harsh though.

Didn't that Portuguese lorry driver only get something like 5-6 years forkilling 2 kiddies in the people carrier, and permanently disabling the father? then that canoe bloke got 6 years for fraud. Forgive me if I've got the details wrong, but surely this sums up British "justice".

Right,so according to you they smashed up a pub and frightened some innocent people as well as the things reported in Burton local paper.  I question whether 15 months is enough, given our stupid legal system works they'll be wandering round town in less than six months. I'm sorry but they chose to take the risk, to expect to get off with a slapped hand would be about what would have happened in most cases but they got the wrong judge. If only this judge worked all such cases of a violent nature, not just football related hooliganism the country would be a better place. You really can't justify in any way someone over the age of 30 acting in this way whether alcohol fuelled or not, nevermind someone who is 19. To try and justify it by saying it happens in most towns most weekends is probably the reason why most town centers are out of bounds to reasonable people and is part of the decline of this country.
As far as I'm concerned more power to the judges elbow.

I think that by imprisoning people for having a bit of a drunken ruck is pointless.
Who hasn't, at some point in their lives had a brawl?
I've had the sh1t kicked out of me a few times following town but I don't care about who did the deed, I just put it down to part of growing up.
It was a bit embarrassing getting smashed up with a piece of wood at Halifax though!

I completely fail to understand your attitude. Sorry but it does not register on my scale of things to pass through as a right of passage into this world.

oh dear,if you look at the overtones of his post, its suggests him and his mates need a police escort everywhere they go,why would this be then sherlock?  iv'e seen a train carriage after it has had town "fans" travel on it,when i pay for my train ticket the price is sky high,i wonder why?possibly to pay for repairs   for damage caused by idiots? they aren't even a proper firm are they, just a bunch of scruffy spotty chavs and a few  40+ beer bellied losers who won't grow up. im not being judgemental in  any way as you suggest,iv'e seen these idiots first hand and i know the individuals concerned, and they are all clowns, what part of this don't you understand?

So you know all the lads involved then do you?
If so you would know thatat least one of them is a 38 year old family man, with a good job, worked hard all his life, NEVER been in court in his life, and definitely not a repeat offending, paid for by the state smackhead who will probably mug your granny and never see the inside of a prison because he has issues.
You are one smug, faceless, arrogant shitforbrainedcunt. Im Jase Ives by the way, feel free to introduce youself twit

Then at his age with those responsibilites he should know better than go onto a football pitch/ cause trouble of any kind at a football match.
And I'm not a smug, faceless, arrogant shitforbrainedcunt like you describe the other poster. I'm just a normal law abiding guy who knows what to do and not to do in society. Your whole reply sums up what kind of person you are by your foul mouthed tirade. I'm John Read by the way and when I see a knuckledragger walking past BP effing every other word then I will know who you are.

I don't get involved with brawls cos I'm a complete coward with a keen inbuilt sense of when to run away.
And also, violence is bad.

Well having read the summary on the posted link it would appear on the surface that they have been harshly dealt with if you take the current trends of the judicial system into account.
Do we have lenient judges on our local court circuit ? Because when you read some of the regular offenders in the region who are up yet again for domestic violence, assault, resisting arrest etc and they are fined, community service, suspended sentence etc then it just doesnt make sense does it?
Ripe for an appeal i would think if there are no underlying previous misdemeanours.

However, as the old saying goes...if you cant do the time then dont do the crime.

Maybe there is a political agenda here.
I suspect that many people think the recent violence between Brum + Villa scuppered our chances of hosting the world cup.
Thus, the judges have been directed to clamp down on football related cases.
IMHO, the only person that did deserve more than a slap on the wrist was the town fan who jumped on the pitch and shoved Colgan but he didn't get locked up.
15 months is a very long sentence for this kind of incident and although the four in this case have done wrong, a fine, a ban and a community service order would have been much more appropriate.
In contrast, the York fans at BP this season were going around smashing up any town fans they could see - actual assaults on random fans and not one of them has appeared in court.
Anyway, I'm off now, Danny Dyer's cockney d1ckheads is on.

They deserved stiff punishment and I am sure most of them would agree, the 15 months sentence is a disgrace, especially as peados etc receive only that for sexual assault......so wrong and Doddsy will have a smug grins whilst he visits certain place of interest in the area each night time!

Shall we have a protest outside Grimsby Police station? Or would he try to ban us from amesif we did?

You wouldn't be banned from protesting outside the police station, you might end up being surrounded by several police officers and not allowed out for several hours though.

Read this article where it states... He also pushed Burton’s goalkeeper, Kevin Poole.

http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/News/Dad-of-three-is-among-latest-set-of-football-yobs.htm

He was stood not far from me before he decided to go on the pitch and have a go at Colgan and from what I saw he then got taken down by stewards near the corner flag....so when exactly did he set on their keeper?

It smacks to me of bad journalism - surely reports from the court which end up in the public domain ought to have the correct facts?

I'm not condoning what went on there, but if the guy is having his offence reported in public, they should get the facts right...but then again when did the facts ever matter to the press!

Well, the point I was making was that you can't compare those two cases, there's absolutely no similarity between them at all.

If you want to talk about inconsistency in sentencing, have a look at what people get away with one set of a drunk up dickheads decide to have a scrap on the Riverhead of a Saturday night, as opposed to inside a football ground.

If you want to be a football hooligan, just run over your intended victim, kill them and drive away, you'll only get four months.

You can look at the sentencing though and question the judges/CPS motives though. Thesn comes into the equation human rights etc.....our judicial system is a mess, yes be tough on hooligans but sentence those who commit worsr to harsher sentences too!

I didn't say the cases were similar, just the difference in sentencing  in relation to the crime to highlight the copulated up justice system in this country.

He is also charged with drug offences, burglary and harrasment.
He gets 4 months prison, since his release he has commited further offences, but cannot be deported because it infringes his human rights!....makes you want to spew dosent it

there will be all types of people crawling over each other to make sure this iraqi scumbag gets his "human rights"...all paid for of course by us,the british taxpayer, great innit? what about the rights of the poor person he killed? i think some of the sentences re the burton thing are a bit harsh because what went on that day was a direct challenge to the "system" of law and order, and the powers that be don't like these challenges, you only need to look back to the miners strike to realise this. crimes against the individual seem to get swept under the carpet, especially if they involve immigrants/asylum seekers. of course many native british scumbags cause problems,so why then are we allowing these foreign criminals to come here when we can't cope with our own scumbags?....yep you've got it again...political correctness

it wasn't lee hughes with a suntan was it? seriously though this piece of sh1t will be given every privilege in some low grade hotel of a prison somewhere, probably with a special menu at dinner time to "not infringe upon his ethnic integrity" during mealtimes, i betting there will be a t.v. and playstation in his cell, and for sure "someone" will pop in on him to make sure the screws aren't racially stereotyping him,it will probably be tony blairs wife.

I hear that, in jail, asylum seekers are treated to poached salmon for breakfast, are read poetry by the parents of abused children and are then sucked dry by the girls of Front magazine - all this before a full turkish bath and game of jai alai.

between the looney left, and the far right,is an area of politics that i would say 95% of people identify with, its called the common sense middle ground. the thing is the looney left view anything that isn,t ultra left-wing as borderline national socialist, stupid fvckwits

With the sentencing right through each and every case and looking at cases involving other clubs previously am i the only one who suspects for whatever reason the powers that be had a hidden agenda v any Gy fans found guilty?Never in the history of Football can so many fans from one club been banned for a pitch invasion that resulted in so little damage we should be awarded the title of best behaved rioting fans ever ffs.

These ludicrus sentences are put into perspective when we hear of this Iraqui twit assylum seeker who drives without licence/insurance,kills a twelve year old girl and flees the scene of the crime.
He is also charged with drug offences, burglary and harrasment.
He gets 4 months prison, since his release he has commited further offences, but cannot be deported because it infringes his human rights!....makes you want to spew dosent it

And who was the force behind us accepting the rulings of the European Human Rights Legislation. None other than Tony Blair to help his attention seeking wife , Cherie , who was a Human Rights Lawyer.Of all the self-benefitting pieces of legislation introduced by different governments this was the most blatant. Don't blame the systems , blame those that introduce them. Our legal system is hamstrung by this acceptance of the European Human Rights Bill which unfortunately is not being used for what it was originally intended in Europe.

A clear abuse of powers in the Grimsby cases and the Lincoln one. How can you ban an autistic person, that is descrimination against the disabled? If his family had anything about them, they would take it further as he needs help not being treated like a scum bag ffs!

The Burton incident has been blown out of proportion, I am sure careful editing of video evidence ie cutting of frames and putting evidence together was cleverly manufactured!

Many Burton fans could be seen gesturing Town fans, now why havebn't those people being punished for enciting aggressive behaviour.....Come on PC Dodds give us some answers?

It just belies belief, i have read it, i understand the words but come on?
Lincoln have 200 lads?? Unbelievable.
As for the spotty hanger on who throws stones from the back then gets what he deserves. Missile throwers are the worst as they can be pretty indiscriminate with who they hit, men, women or children.

I don't agree with football related violence in any way, but I honestly think that the way in which football fans are treat and dealt with nowadays in completely wrong. I was at Burton, and in all honesty, I've seen a lot worse on an average saturday night out in Cleethorpes. There were no mass brawls, no fighting, of anything worth noting, no casualties. Is it just me or is breaking some hoardings a really minor and petty event to be called an offense? It's not as if anybody died (thankfully)
I think it can honestly be put down to awful, underprepared policing, we arrived at Burton train station at around 10:30 in the morning, to be greeted by one female police officer. Doddsy and his minions were at Grimsby police station with their cameras, they were well aware that we would be arriving in Burton early, and did not provide an escort, this is surely just down to laziness!? We were then in a pub at around lunch time, and the owner, was not prepared to allow us to sing in her pub, with all due respect, it was one of the biggest days in the club's recent history, it's surely to be expected, and they should have been pre-warned and prepared. This is what caused the 'disorder' to start, as she decided to close her pub, if the police had told her to stay open, and kept us all in one place where we were happy drinking, rather than trying to herd us around like sheep, and unnecessarily using batons, then I'm sure they'd have been treated with a little more respect, I'm sure there is a saying for that somewhere 'treat thy neighbour as thyself', a basic part of police conduct.

The stand behind the goal was overpacked to say the least (people on the turnstiles were taking back handers to let people in) the stewarding was poor, and again, underprepared and it was clear that there was no liaison between them and the police. It was a disastrous attempt from the Police and the club alike. If anything Burton Albion FC should be fined for allowing the ground to be subject to letting it happen. But as always, its easier to pull a few lads off the streets and fine and ban them, as it looks better on their statistics

and the idea of actually banning people from the football, i think just breeds a new generation of young men to be banned in the next few years...

with all the media hype of what happened at Burton, when teams come down here they'll want to have a pop at Grimsby because of it. Because they heard that Grimsby is full of yobs, they'll want to challenge the title (its a basic instinct of manhood). (this was evident in a few of the pre season games, Sheff Wednesday and Scunthorpe, all be it they are somewhat 'derbies' but still) This just causes other people to get involved, that wouldn't have before. The whole banning order system is just a vicious cycle. I don't agree with it at all, sure something needs to be done, for SERIOUS football related violence, like scenes seen before where people actually get hurt. But let's all be honest, where the scenes at Burton really that 'horrific' and 'terrifying' like the papers acclaimed them to be? It's the same as anything that happens in this country, its all overhyped and everybody over reacts to it.

As for students. I think the protests were pretty ridiculous, they were never ever going to achieve anything, and I actually agree with one of the first posts on this link, that they were actually initially started by the more idealistic hippy type students, and then 'bandwagoned'.

Being a student (not a stereotypical one, I might add) myself, I get to hear what goes on, and although i did not take part in any of the protests, I saw  the protests, and I thought they were on par with what happened at Burton, if not worse and hijacked by some non students just wanting to get involved in a ruckus. They should be dealt with just as severely if not worse, if the government want to keep any continuity and stature to their legal system, other wise people will just continue to run a mock.

on the fees topic, I'm training to be a teacher, my starting wage will be low 20s, after I have done a year as an NQT, so I will be paying back my fees straight away, as I will be earning over 15,000 a year. However, not that the rise in fees will affect me, as i have already started my course, if they were to rise to potentially, 9,000 a year, then it seems rather a lot to be paying back in comparison to the wage in which I will be receiving, does it not? But I know that I want to be a teacher, and we do need teachers in our country, and always will, so for this type situation, surely it will have a negative effect? I just don't believe that the increase in fees will pay off in time.

I think that the result will stop students studying for degree's which, in fairness, do lead to better jobs (most of the time) and will just force them into training for skilled trades such as plumbing and the like, which, unless I am mistaken, we have several thousand Brits out of work at the moment, who are already fully qualified in these areas, due to a distinct lack of jobs.

thus leading to more prestigious positions, that require degrees, becoming available to foreign people coming to live in this country, who will get their tuition fees fully paid for by our government and receive grants to live off, that will not be paid back!

what i do not understand is that all students are the same, however due to circumstances with their upbringing some students get their tuition for free, as their parents cannot afford to pay for them, but neither can my parents, I don't, personally believe that that is at all fair, maybe it's just because I am not unfortunate enough to come from a broken home. I think there are a few wrinkles to be ironed out in our whole legal system.

But, this is just my opinion...

The thing what gets me is the judge gave all 4 of them the same sentence.
these guys never knew each other ,the never went to the match together ,they all were arrested for diffrent offences[or at least diffrent crimes] so there was no coordination between them, they will all had pre-sentance reports done by the probation service which would mean some would have more mitigation than others so how could they all recieve the same sentence ?
this stinks of a stitch up by the authorities  !
the same as when pc dodds said they were going to arrest 50 fans, why 50 ? there was more than 50 involved so why just nick the first 50 they could get their hands on and make an example out of them.
if these so called crimes had been commited anywhere else and by anyone other than white working class football fans they would not have recieved a prison sentence

Think the two lads that got arrested was for what happened down near the seafront.

That is right but another got arrested down Clee Road outside Maccies, yet York lads were allowed to go free!

I heard the comtion outside The Imp as I walked back from the club shop, I ran to the corner to look, they were starting on people walking by, shouting 'stand, stand, stand' one of them even said "This is wrong they are shirters"

I decided against walking past as didn't fancy a plank of head against my head, though to be fair I would have fancided my chances but if they had got someone down, those lads would ave put the boot in and not stopped for a while!

Dodds and his crew need to show they are fair in the way they operate as just targeting Grimsby lads is not fair at all, also what message is he giving out to other firms and lads?

I'm surprised anyone hasn't picked up on the role of the "football liaison officer" the most cushiest job in british policing.think about it lads, its not shift work, you're not plodding the streets in the rain and snow,a nice little office in the nick out of the way of you're superiors, trust me on this it is a well sought after job within the police. so in theory the most you can make out of any disorder however small involving you're local "hooligan element" the more it justifies you're appointment as the aforementioned "football plod".the york boys didn't get pulled because the police don;t want away fans roaming the streets on their patch late at night when released. i know of at least one instance of police infiltration into grimsbys hooligan gangs in recent times, who says it wasn't happening at burton?

There was no organised Grimsby hooligan gang at Burton because any fool knew well in advance there was zero opposition waiting and only a fool  would think all the lads banned and arrested are proper hooligans so far id say about a dozen are guilty as charged the rest of just been unluckily caught up in the Police web of lies.It was predicted on here numerous times what would unfold at Burton if we went down by at least half a dozen posters are they all OB as well?Contrary to popular myth ANY of the 23 teams in last years league 2 would have had exactley the same problem because at least the same amount of people would have travelled no matter what and that is why people who say hooligans are not also fans completely miss the point time and time again.

Someone who wears a replica top, scarf etc rather than dressing like a double hard illegitimate in knock off designer gear. The reason being only the chaps in Burberry are "up for it" and therefore fair game.

Anybody else think the new football academy at Burton might have influenced this whole case.

For instance Burton as a whole made to look squeaky clean?

Just a thought.

"It was all Grimsby fans fault. Look at all these Grimsby lads we've got with banning orders now. There was no failure or problems on the police side or Burton Albion side on the run up to the match or the way the match was policed/stewarded."

Evening all

It was a total ploice setup let everything happen dont bother trying to prevent or stop any trouble just film it and nick em later. I have been told Staffs Police were not that bothered it was Doddsy pushing for all the arressts and as for Bladerunner police infiltration lol.

PS No lads would wear knock off gear that was/is the point exclusive and smart.

Exclusive? Liking fighting and owning a Stone Island jacket - hardly the Bullingdon Club is it?

I think you'll find that George products are designed by Giorgio Armani.

Back in the day, that was the general aim wasn't it ..... I remember buying one particular Pringle sweater from Redmaynes in Notts, that no-one else had (circa 1983).

No point even trying these days, although I've just bought a load of 'Pretty Green' stuff that no-one in Leics/Lincs is wearing

No point talking about it on here they moan try and look down on people who spend a few bob on a smart Polo but think nothing of spending nearly the same on a nylon replica shirt knocked up in a chinese sweatshop that dont fit. Isnt that Liam Gallaghers label that you can only get it on the net

And STB i take your comment re George is tongue in cheek nobody can be that thick.

Fashionistas, God luv 'em.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

You could say we was lucky to play a team like burton were there is no one to fight with, now it would of been bad if it was a different team.

It would have been mayhem if it had been Bradford, Lincoln, Shrewsbury,Chesterfield as these teams have some kind of firms, no matter how urine pot their firms are!

It seems somewhat ironic that those who make the most noise, at least in my experience, students break a few buildings in London are those who do not blink an eye to engage in antisocial behavior at footy.
