Buger van?

Are the club now going after the 'pink pound' in response to the falling gates?

Who gives a excrement about the burger van.

Get your mum to make you a nice sandwich and take it in your packed lunch box if you don't like the food at the ground and feel the need to eat there.

Actually, who the hell can complain about the quality of a burger van anyway, its a burger van FFS not a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.

Why do people go to the burger van anyway, why can't people last 2 hours without stuffing their faces. Or just go to maccies.

I am amazed that anyone would buy a burger from them.  I can't believe they are legal.

Well if that's true then sorry no harm meant.

My point was that a burger van is what it is, if you're wanting quality food you don't go to a burger van.

I should think you're probably still drunk off that we haven't won today and are venting your anger at something you wouldn't have on another day.

I've never minded the burgers really, tasted a lot worse and it isn't like the ones from Maccies next door are high quality food either but yeah, they are a rip off.  £2.50 for a beef burger is bad enough but £3.50 for a cheese burger is just going too far. A quid extra for a flipping slice of cheese! Madness!

Oh dear are you playing dead mum chicken? How very old school.

Is that why you're so worried about the burger vans do you believe they have started an omage to Mrs Lovett's Pie Shop and worried your mum may well be one of the delicious victims.

As of the next home game only food from the burger vans will be allowed inside the ground. The owner has complained. To the club and stewards have been asked to confiscate food brought in from outside of the ground! That's the youth squad stuffed for a start n all those with McDs in the stands! What a problem this is going to cause for the stewards n fans, stand offs over big macs n chips!

Well his ploy to drum up more business wont work...
I for one will still go to maccies before the game and just eat it outside.

And he can't be doing that bad because last time I went to get a steak and kidney neither the pontoon or lower smiths had any!

They've never heard of pockets then, a device invented to hide food from stewards.

My lad has tried one of the beefburgers and his verdict was it was quite tasty (but the again he likes Cheestrings so who can say) but I would like to know if anyone tried GTFC's speciality.... CHESSEBURGER?

The fact they are banning taking Maccie D's in is absolutely comical - as we were sat in there having our pre match coffee yesterday, the curly haired bloke who serves on the van was in there buying a meal   What does that say about the quality of their burgers ? We were stopped on the way into the ground with our coffee and told that we wouldn't be allowed to take it in again after this week.I will not buy anything from that grot wagon on pure principle - I hope they go bust !

I just hope that we don't have anyone called McDonald due to play against us soon at BP

I can just imagine the jobs-worth stewards frog-marching someone out of the ground saying, "No exceptions....I've got instructions in black and white that all McDonalds have been banned from our ground and just because you are an opposition player doesn't cut the mustard with me"

Wouldn't touch the food - looks rank

Would consider a coffee - apart from last time I did, there was two used spoons only to use at the side with a huge wet lump of sugar to chip away at.

Nah I'll pass

Look forward to the flask bans!

Just out of principle I'm going to stand there with 5 fags in one hand and a big mac meal in the other next time.

I really used to like the Kiosk at the ponny end of the findus.  The ladies used to do a great job, could add up, serve quickly and always had a smile.  The hot chocolate was decent too.  These vans, nah, no thanks.

I remember being pelted with ice by the Norwich fans during the Milk Cup match, do you?

We should get the caterers at Kidderminster to take over at BP. The food there was amazing, It was like a takeaway, lamb curry, beef curry, chicken chow mein, pork baps and soup that you needed a fork to eat it as it was packed full of lumps of veg and meat and plenty more.

These vans don't offer Balti pies, the kiosks at the end of the findus did and would always get one from there..can't remember the last time I had a balti pie at a town game home or away

Until they make fish finger sandwiches available, I just don't see the point.

Best food I've was at Dagenham. Shame the football was nowhere near that quality.

Not sure if it's the same one as I never use them but there was a similar one parked up at the gypsy camp at the end of the M180.

So I wouldn't trust one of their burgers especially as the number of ponies tethered up seems to have gone down.

How come the club can't make a profit from in house catering? I seem to recall reading here it would have meant kitting out all the outlets with stainless stell work surfaces etc, but surely they can make a good income from food? Especially with the nisa connections and that...

The burgers are inedible, the hot drinks would not get past the Trades Descriptions Act and everything else is overpriced.

Certainly not de-valuing the product!

And this ladies and gentlemen is   "FOOD TOWN".      It's almost unbelievable.

We've surely got some enterprising butchers in town that could come up with some decent pies and burgers, in the little village where I live there is one who does all those and cracking good sausages too.    What about John Pettit, doesn't he produce such things,I know he was instrumental in getting his Linconshire sausages into London shops.

That fat girl private Hamilton eats like a trooper, i reckon he's got flipping worms, he must keep the burger vans going all by himself...i don't care about the standard, its not a la carte, but the fact they can't spell cheese, and are too bone idle to correct their spelling, 'chesse' is annoying and bloody stupid, they are trying to run a serious business but don't even advertise stuff properly...

as for banning mac d's, the stewards will be bolloxed, they all go out to maccies for a brew at half time, or send someone to brig a load back...

There is a very simple answer to the sh1t food at BP. DON'T BUY IT.  The footy is between 3pm and 5pm so you could have dinner (or lunch to you posh tw@ts) before you go, and tea (or dinner to you posh tw@ts) when you get home.   No demand = no product.

Incidently my first experience of Balti pies was at Bradford many years ago. Half time and the only pies they had left were Balti.  "Balti, Balti !!!What the fuk is that" ? !!  Tell you what it was.  It was one of the best pies I have ever had.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied

They would need to be fat though.  Just to prove they know what they are talking about.

And also it would add some weight to their arguement !!!!!!

Why the hostility towards to initial post?

This is just another example of how poorly run the club is and also how many fans have accepted poor service and/or quality over the last few years.

Just because we are a non league club doesn't mean we have to put up with non league facilaities, does it?  Only recently FiveStar has gone public with this we must have faith speech and how the club needs stability and be sustainable.  Well how about allowing some initial outlay to be used to get the pre-exisint facilities upto required standards and get some decent food made ala Kidderminster.  I don't think it would take too long to get the money back and start making a profit.

Instead we allow the pre existing kiosks to become unusable and stand their geting rotten whislt we ship out to some fairly rubbish company that fails to spell cheese, and, provides a crappy product at over the top prices (sound familiar).

In fact, the whole thing sounds familiar, money isn't spent in the right areas and we end up bringing something in  without an affinity to the club that takes our money and lets us down.

Those who are dismissing this as trivial are in a way correct, but back to my earlier point, we shouldn't be accepting anything substandard in Blundell Park - whether that be stewarding, beer, food, or, the football. We let this go and next thing the bars are outsourced, and something else and something else all with not a single sign of it being for the better, or just as importantly, the money coming back to the club.

All those further up saying that the gentleman should either take pack up or wait a couple of hours.  Well that isn't always an option if people have come straight form work, or football, or elsewhere.  Those saying he should go to Maccies - yes let's encourage our fans not to spend their money inside Blundell Park!  I know the kiosks are a seperatle entity but surely this is another example of the club losing money.  No wonder the budget looks so bad and we hope for a cup run if we can't even make some money on selling decent grub!

I would only correct one thing, the van will have to have tendered for the site so he will be paying the club.

What went wrong, well at a guess (and it is a guess) the guy tendered too high so he's trying to make his profit out of buying crap ingredients and flogging them at a high price.   You apparently can get a happy meal and a drink at McDees for the same price as the burger van is selling a cheeseburger.
I might say that I consider neither of the above to be decent food and prefer my Haddock and chips from the local chippie before I set off for the game. Can't beat a decent haddock. However some of the junior Icenians have been known to risk botulism by munching a pie.

I'm sure the club did follow procurement rules and the best (in terms of value for money and quality) tender subsequently won the right to sell food at the ground and the club receives an appropiate fee.

I suspect one of John's mates was offered the contract for a small fee - this of course is only alleged and my opinion.

Also I would agree that the fish and chips option would be far better, why couldn't we go a step better than Rochdael and have a chippy within the ground?  Obviously not in the wooden end though!

To be air the lad is right, the food is shite and over priced! Kidderminsters food was very good, £4 may not sound cheap but taste wise the cottage pie was fantastic.

Why can't youngs sell Mariners Pies at BP and other fish related meals? Suppose there will be a reason.

But try asking without you're favourite "F" word and then you might get an answer.

But folks take one look at me and pour their hearts out.   I was told three times at the last game that the stuff cost too much and was rubbish. I thought one of them was winding me up when he said the bloke in the van went to McDs for his grub but someone on here confirmed it.
You see I actually care that those that want it can get good food we are afterall FOODTOWN. If the little things aren't right what bloody chance have the things that really matter of being put right. Folks expect to have a good experiance going to a footymatch,so if the foods rubbish and the games not much better then you end up having a hell of a job convincing folks that a trip to BP is worth anything at all nevermind 14/18 quid.

Exactly. This is something the club should really capitalise on. For better or worse, people think fish when they come to Grimsby. Might as well try and flog them to it. Just like the Rushden do (did?) with Doctor martens.

Wot no tiffin or supper?

Oh I say old chap .  I've always got time for tiffin

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'
