One that always comes to mind when threads like this run,and oddly though it wasn't the last time, it is the last game I can remember there being no segregation between supporters. I can't remember the season segregation started.   Anyway that 2-2 draw against Sunderland (Portwood and Hill for us and Usher and the really good Sharkey for them). One more goal would have seen us safe as it was they went up to div1 and we went down to div 3. No riots,no scrapping just shoulder to shoulder with 16 thousand plus supporters some in red stripes and some in black stripes.

What year was this Icey ??

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Just 7 games after going second bottom in 2007, winning 1 0 at Hereford to seal safety with two months to spare. The Town fans burst into a chant of "One Bernard Morley, there's only one Bernard Morley". It was a great tribute to one of Town's greatest fans a few days after he had passed away. I was really proud to be a Town fan at that point.

Being tied to the open corner seats against West Brom a week before getting married in 2000. Lee Ashcroft's idea.
As luck had it the stewards unchained me at half time as it was raining. We won 2-0. I know David Nielsen scored, not
sure is Smudge got the other. Anyone know.

It was Bradley Allen and IIRC it was on Sky.

Another one that popped into my head is Lester smashing Dean Austin into the Lower Findus, before cutting inside and smashing into the net against Palace. Palace were managed by Sun readers favourite Venables at the time I think.

We seemed to give in so easily that day. For a long time I wondered whether the club didn't think they were ready for the big time....nowadays that finish would've got us into the play-offs....

Didn't we pull back from 2-0 down to 2-1 with about 15 minutes to go after hammering West Ham for about 10 minutes? We then had a player sent off (Cumming?) and totally collapsed in the last 10 minutes.

My favourite Town v West Ham memory was nearly knocking them out of the League Cup in the 65-6 season, finally drawing 2-2. West Ham had the immortal trios of Moore, Peters and Hurst, had recently won the European Cup Winners Cup, and could put out a first team with 7 players beginning with "B" and often did.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

That was a funny old game. Players obviously on holiday early. We stood on a small open terrace behind one goal and kept up a chant for about 60 minutes despite goals going into Batch's net at regular intervals. The Police made us park on some boggy meadow type area and a lot of the cars and a mini bus got stuck in mud. As the wheels spun mud was going everywhere.

Going back to the Millwall cup tie. It'd been postponed on the Saturday. We hired a mini-bus, foolishly had Ready Rent a Van on the side. Befriended a pub landlord who let us park in his car park behind the pub out of sight. After the sixth goal went in we wondered how on earth we were going to get out of East London alive. We waited an hour after the game and then set off. About two miles up the road we stopped for petrol but couldn't work out how to get the cap off the petrol tank. Had to get the RAC out. Took them an hour. There was a pub across the road and as it was chucking out (no all night drinking then...) the locals caught sight of the RAC van and burst into a rendition of "We're going home, we're going home, you're not!"

I think you'd have got free drinks all night in East London. Think you mean New Cross, Catford, Lewisham way.

Never liked Millwall supporters since a bus load of them gobbed over my brand new Audi on Weelsby Road outside the Hainton Inn traffic lights??? about 1979. Think we'd just beaten them 2-1? and Drinks scored. Was on MOTD.

Can't remember the year exactly, but our youth team at the time included the Moore brothers, Tony Ford, Terry Donovan, Nigel Batch, Drinks & Wilkie (I think), and had made the final in whatever cup the youths played for then against Sunderland - which was a 2-legged affair.
/* Yep, my memory's getting rather hazy */

Every football "expert" was then convinced that Sunderland's youth team were the best in the country bar none - so when we went there and won 4-1 it was a 'bad day at the office' for them, and they'd show us what they were really made of in the return at BP.

They showed up full of confidence, and Dave Moore was having a hard time (at centre-back) against one of their strikers. Dave was fouling the guy every time to stop him, and when he did this in the area (pen. not given, corner awarded) I saw Batchy go out and have a word with Dave as Sunderland prepared for the corner.

Ball came into the box and Batchy punched the ball away with one fist, and knocked out this troublesome striker with his other fist. A stoppage of several minutes resulted....

We went on to win 4-0 for a difficult-to-dispute-who-were-the-better-side winning aggregate of 8-1!

Really good crowd at BP that day, too.

The goal I always remember is Drinks making it 2-2 at Carlisle on the opening day of a season long ago (we/he won the match 3-2).
