I think it may have been Wimbledon in the Cup in 89. Or round about that period. A long wait after my first home game. For 20 years its home games that have been the rarity.

Wimbledon 3 Town 6 in 1980. Got me hooked on away games after that, not suprisingly. I had the flu before the game but it mysteriously vanished as the goals flew in. We sang at their goalkeeper, "Raymond Goddard is our friend, he let's goals in," all through the second half.

It would be nice to have a few games like that next season...

"That Grimsby team was pound for pound, and class for class, the best football team I have seen in England since the war. In the league they were in they played football nobody else could play. Everything was measured, planned and perfected and you could not wish to see more entertaining football."    Bill Shankly

1979 Sheff Wednesday away - Lost 2-0. Then went to loads away that season in cups and for the promotion push. Mansfield at the end of the season was fantastic - I seem to remeber us filling three sides of the ground.

FA Cup away at Coventry, 3rd Feb 1973 - my 7th birthday!  Robbed by a Mick Coop penalty in about the 93rd minute, gutted all the way home in my dad's mates Morris Minor.

That was my first away game too.  An epic performance but we were cruly denied by a dodgy refereeing decision. I think Oldfootballer played.

It was never a penalty..........

Actually thinking about it, was the 7-1 thrashing at Hillsborough when John Oster got our consolation in 1996?? If so that was my first and not the Leeds one

Ipswich away FA cup about 1982 lost 2-0 as I recall. First town game for me

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Was it where Trevor Whymark was our great white hope and was carried off within 5 minutes?

Scrub my previous, I went to this one too. I remember Ipswich was a toilet.

I can add further to that game, I was taking a throw in and it was at the open side at Sincil Bank and just as I was going to throw the ball a Police guy was taking a Town supporter who I new very well and he had a knife in his back, could not believe it, he ended up alright, bit of a character at the time and now he is one of the most respected people in the Town.

this was my first away game as well, can remember we had a section of the wednesday end and had to walk through their fans to get to it, was pretty scary... a bloke next to me got hit on the head with a half brick in the first half & was cut pretty bad.. threw it back but always hated the yorkie scum since
