just  a question....if someone gets a puncture  what is the plan...into back of transit ..mend it and out again ...or will there be spare tyres/ inner tubes in the donated stuff so it can just be changed .....and if so will you need  wheels sizes ...i assume most will be on 26" tyres

i think anyone getting a puncture will be unlucky...........and also is teco giving bottled water or the new fangled energy/isotonic drinks

oh brazilnut your good very good!!

there is a protocol set for:
1) minor injury/ mechanical breakdown
2) major incident/ mechanical breakdown.

we have vouchers from wilkinson to a small sum.

this week we will buy 7-8 puncture repair kits, couple of lengths of cable and a few inner tubes.

we can't stock, as you'll understand, a full range of stuff.

to a certain degree it may have to come down to riders maybe sticking a inner tube in with their kit or in their support car. Especailly if their equipment is specialized.

in terms of the protocol:

here is an example (small scale problem)

car1 - grp1 - car2 - grp2 -minibus - grp3 - van/ambulance

if for example, grp1 gets a puncture, the leader is notified and tells the support car the problem. grp1 and car1 pulls over to sort the problem. in the meantime  car2 - grp2 -minibus - grp3 - van/ambulance overtake changing the order of the ride to:

car2 - grp2 -minibus - grp3 - van/ambulance - grp1 - car1

this way there is minimum disruption.

and yes we have vouchers from morrison/tesco for drinks - we won't have like 120 we will have enough for all riders at the half way point stop at grimblethorpe.

we do suggest you take advantage of your bottle cages and put some of your own drink in there, i wear a hydration pack made by camelbak, you can get cheap variants for under a tenner - check tesco extra in cleethorpes i think they do them.

like you say a puncture will be unlucky, i think we all know how to deal with a puncture but in each group is a rider with 'experiance' to hopefully accelerate the fix.

Think I will stock my car full of bottles of water for anyone in the best of the three groups to grab one at any point. I will also take this oppurtunity to recommend raisins. Can get a decent amount on yourself and are good to keep energy and blood sugar up. Any other snacks?

get the gels - expensive it contain all the salts/ nutrients etc. you need.

might be worth asking everyone to bring a 6 pack of water? and load it up. i get through 1l every 10miles.

and LH by saying 'the best of the 3 groups' you after a race

don't use this site but this kind of thing:

maximuscle stuff is always good, my bro, a sports scientist and keen sportman uses their products all the time.

haha brilliant -i think the group thing will cause a nice sense of rivalry. its like being at school..

the table that is the tidiest can go out to play

in our case

the group that stacks their bikes the tidiest can get their sausage bap first.
