Lincoln, Chesterfield and an as of yet not drawn under 21 team in our group

Real Shame they've ruined the competition as I'd be going to watch both the games against the Proper clubs otherwise

A lot of clubs that at first despised the trophy are now rolling over and changing their attitude towards it.

Good job that as one we still fu(king hate it. The premier league don’t need under 21s in what is essentially a lower league  competition. Crazy idea, and bear with me on this because it’s some way out there, but why not have something like a reserve teams league where kids can become ‘acclimatised’ to the rigour of men’s football

They've already copulated us on replays. We can't have our bellies tickled on this. Boycott

Or, even better, send them out on loan to the lower division clubs where they would already been playing if they hadn't been hoovered up by the big clubs' academies at a young age due to the 'EPPP'.

If this game is played at our place im expecting a sell out of the away end @1700/1800 of you being a competitive first team game against a fellow lincolnshire team.Your cup final against your superior higher league rivals.

I think last seasons result was so bad, and so close to the trapdoor, that I'd rather Town send out a youth team to get slaughtered in all the cups this year and just keep the real players fit for a league push.  I wouldn't say no to another FA Cup 6th round, don't get me wrong, I'd just rather we never get near that relegation battle next season

Have you ever been around someone that doesn’t really fit in, or tags along and other people don’t want there?

You fit in here about as well as a vegan at a bbq

Might not be 1700/1800 for this tin pot cup but it will probably be the same as the 500 you brought to us for a boxing day derby for an actual league fixture..

we would never do that no matter how shite we are...

Pep is always banging on about B teams so it is on someone's radar and judging by how Klopp et al got their way by crying about the FA Cup then it is a realistic threat.

Repeat after me: Lincoln never have nor ever will be considered one of Grimsby's rivals

The concept of this match being between rivals comes only from the Lincoln support, its a weird obsession you have there

Each to their own, but I consider Lincoln a local rival having come up against them so many times in the last few decades.

What part of a boycott do you not understand?

You're either an exceptional troll or exceptionally thick. Sadly, I suspect the latter.

Be fair to them, it was NYD not Boxing day. And they didn't quite manage 500.

Wasn't it Lincoln that begged the fa to not make them play us boxing day/new years day. Have they ever filled our away end?

I can confirm with some certainty that I won’t watch any of our group games.
If we were to get out of the group stage, I may invite my Scottish friends for a match as they have never been out of the group stage…🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Are you ill, sick or in hospital or something? You must be so bored . Lincoln are and always will be a small club . That’s not Grimsby Town FC or the fans fault is it ? So why don’t you just accept it and move on . You’ll be gone in a few years , you know it and I know it . Just enjoy the good times

I am not sure we are a small club now, and before all your quotes with attendances, things change, and it is best not to live in the past, however good the 80's was a decade!

Lincoln, as a football club, and as a city are moving forward at a rapid rate - and hopefully, for Lincolnshire's sake, Grimsby start moving in that direction, only time will tell.

I think most Lincoln fans are comfortable with the model we have, though some moan. We sold a player last week to Huddersfield for 500k, and because they are in the same league as us, some feel wounded - However, they are clearly a bigger club - It is just the model we have, and need, as it self funds as opposed to money being pumped in.

As for this trophy, not something I watch, but helps some players cut their teeth - we generally give minutes to fringe players.

Nice to see a sensible post from a Lincoln fan for a change…👍

Personally I find all this ‘my clubs bigger than your club’ a bit pathetic. Always have. The other Lincoln fan on here just wants reactions and some just can’t help but do it. They’re as bad as him.

Swings and roundabouts football.. teams go through spells.. atm it’s Lincoln’s, and the only difference atm is it coincides with the money in the game, the gap between leagues is ever growing - even at the lower ends of EFL. Their investors are pumping money in - they initially did a great job on capitalising their cup run/promotion from non league - something we haven’t done twice. If it carries in fair play to them - if the investors do put them in a bad place eventually (I don’t think that’ll happen) - I for one wouldn’t celebrate or want it - I don’t like to see any club under threat. So all those Lincoln fans now enjoying a relative ‘success’, time above local rivals - indeed enjoy it..why shouldn’t they?

As for us..our decade or more decline came at the worst time also..playing catch up now is in some ways impossible. Success for us atm would be stability, initially mid table or above and then challenge - but the important factor is setting the infrastructure in for long term stability.

May be 2 years, May be more until Lincoln and our paths cross again competitively in League games - but I look forward to when it does..every club benefits from a local ‘rivalry’

Ha the sensible Imps view. I along with many Town fans think you've been the standout lower end EFL model to follow for a few years .The gane has massively changed since the 80s when it was results on the pitch  you were measured by now off the field is at least as important. We're getting there but Lincoln are way in front at the moment I'm optimistic we will close that gap on and off the field next 18 months.

I was only yanking Frasers chain mate but realistically you’re a small club I’m the EFL , so are Grimsby . Scunthorpe meanwhile are a huge club in local football . It’s all about perspective

As for the City , it’s beautiful from Bailgate down to the new market . Castle , Stunning Cathedral etc . I went a couple of Saturdays ago and it was rammed from the top of the hill to the bottom

Grimsby is sadly a hopeless case unless someone with a lot of money builds a new ground on or near the docks . Then it will boom again

I believe that Tom Shutes is the leading investor in the docks, apart from ABP. If you read the comments from JS, on another thread, I think we can assume that there will be no new stadium at/on the docks.

Crazy though . It’s by far the best place for it imo . We’ll see how the shutes thing pans out . It could end up like the Brayford in Lincoln and attract people in ? A university might help too lol
