So it might be easier to say who will be definitely starting,

Max
Waterfall
Maher
Emanuel
Efete
Clifton

I think the other 5 shirts are up for grabs.

Whisky he may be loyal to Orsi, for me, if Taylor is fit he starts. Simple as that. He adds a different dimension and Mcatee is much improved with Taylor in the side.

I raised this in yesterday's match thread, but Taylor would worry me in a game with VAR. He tends to land his elbows on a defender at least once a game which he might not get away with. I also wonder whether he'll favour Smith as the 3rd centre back for extra defensive solidity

I think you're right. Green has been great the last two games but quality on the ball under pressure is going to be really important.

Yeah, I think the team picks itself other than Hunt/Green and I think Lew is right in that Hunt will get the nod. I think PH has already decided this, hence resting Hunt altogether midweek. Probably doing so because putting him up against the Sutton midfield was counter productive to his skillset and potentially risking a knock his confidence. Green will be a great player to bring on if we're fortunate to be in a position where we're hanging on at the end.

I think the only other maybes are Smith and Khan but Khan doesn't really fit into the system and I can't see Maher or Michee being dropped for Smith, which is unfortunate for him bit Michee just offers a but more an additional threat going forward than Smith.

The point about Taylor's elbows is a good one, but one that he is surely going in to the match being aware of. The other side of that coin is that he also draws a lot of fouls and doesn't always get those decisions in L2.

Perhaps more important than the starting 11, is Hurst managing player resources over 90 mins, or maybe 120 mins.

Given the likely intensity of this game some players will not function effectively for all this time.  We know who they are.

Therefore, the timing of subs and who comes will be critical towards the end of the game.  For this match we are better placed than in other cup games in having the subs to chase the game or even defend a lead.

Extra-time and penalties I think, no more replays in the FA Cup this season as far as I know. Might be wrong though.

Thanks Les, I was being optimistic that the game would last that long to be honest.

Would Hurst play Taylor for 90 last night if he was going to start? Orsi I reckon will play. Has been our talisman so far in this competition. Both games against Luton and won the crucial second pen at Soton.

I sense we’ll try and get balls in behind them so you would think Orsi will start but though he’s not the most mobile Taylor does have craft.

Taylor ideally will be used in the latter stages. Most likely scenario is we will be needing to score in the second half and he will come on us a sub. If we manage to get a draw and it goes to pens he will be still on the pitch.

On the basis of the last few games, Efete plays wing back ahead of Emmanuel on Sunday.

If you’d told me, going into the Southampton game with a 100% penalty fail rate, that we’d win that game with two pens, I’d have been screaming for a nurse.

Assuming it's a 3-5-2 formation this is who I think Hursty will pick
Gk
Crocombe - easy decision

Back 3
Maher
Waterfall
Efete
Maher and Waterfall are shoe ins and I think efete's pace gets him the nod ahead of smith albeit smith is better aerially and as a comfortable on the ball defender. Hurst does like efete so don't see him dropping him after Tuesday nights display.

Wingbacks
Emmanuel
Glennon
Both have a bit of class going forward, emmanuel to beat a man by seeming to turn back and then suddenly going past him and a great cross if given time. Glennon has a great delivery and our dead ball specialist. Pretty sure these two will get the nod.

Midfield 3
Clifton
Holohan
Hunt
Clifton is our best midfielder I think, I reckon holohan gets the nod due to his experience and the fact he offers a goal threat from distance, which being as we may struggle to get a sight on goal might be important. Penalty taker too, might be important with VAR! I really can't decide who he will pick for the 3rd spot as there are arguments for and against all 3 of the main contenders: hunt is weaker physically and can be bullied and has dropped clangers in front of his own box on more than 1 occasion, very inconsistent form, but good passer when on game, Morris is better physically but still prone to giving the ball away and not in good form, not as good with ball as hunt, Green is just coming back from injury and can get himself excessivly ramped up for games in lg2 never mind this match. I think he woukd be a red card/penalty/free kicks in dangerous areas waiting to happen against the quicker feet of premiership players albeit he is a battler and strong tackler. Khan is an outside choice possibly. Overall I'd probably be least likely to pick green- so probably that's who it'll be - or hunt maybe as that's who he picked last time. OK Hunt.

Front 2
Mcatee
Orsi

Mcatee has been hit and miss for wise but he still battles and gives 100% and his running helps out tye midfield. Obviously he has that flash of magic in him like forbthe chip against Newport, if anybody is likely to create a goal from the very little we are likely to have on Sunday it's him. Orsi cos I think we will be working hard and doing a lot of running and that suits him more than taylor, and he has done well in the other cup games when coming in. Has more pace than taylor for if we are on a counter.

Subs
Battersby
Smith
Pearson
Amos
Green
Morris
Khouri
Khan
Taylor

I think green coming back probably knocks scans off the bench as he isn't fit enough  for anything but a cameo, no rwb in reserve means efete covers that which maybe means Pearson as extra CD cover - more likely to have a CD sent off than a forward. Think khori will get the nod ahead of DP even tho we are so light on strikers in the cup and probably already have 2 centre mids on the bench (whoever they are).

All that thought ive put into it and El-General is probably gonna do something totally different!

Their fullbacks wont have anybody to mark so they will be taken off at half time - second half we bring on 2 wingers who wont have anybody marking them = hey presto I can see your plan - I bet it's never been thought of before  FFS.

I think our best way to keep score down is literally have 2 banks of 5 and limit space. There’s no way in the world we can live with them if it’s an open game. They’re fitter, faster, stronger, technically better and ping it around better than the likes of Liverpool or Man U. Hurst was only half joking when he said it could be 10-0 before Southampton. He won’t be half joking this time, Brighton a whole new proposition. I’m making them sound like Real Madrid aren’t I?? Maybe so..but the chasm in class, fitness and ability is enormous.

If we can keep it below 5 it’s a massive achievement, I genuinely believe that. And the best way of doing that is making it harder for them. That’s why I think PH will go with the more energetic line up rather than with a target man.

End of the day we’ve already won..but they won’t want to get embarrassed..and I’m sure it’ll be a performance full of fight and heart.

Just hope people appreciate and realise the size of the task.

Crocombe, Efete, Waterfall, Maher, Glennon, Emmanuel, Clifton, Green, Khan, McAtee or Morris, Orsi,

I think Orsi ahead of Taylor, because of the energy Orsi brings. The first Luton match is the hardest game we've played IMO, and Orsi ran lost causes all game, was feeding off absolute scraps but DID make things happen when given an opportunity. Also, although we've not had a chance to see it loads, i do think he's a more natural finisher if we do get half a chance.

I love Taylor and wouldn't be disappointed if he does play, he holds the ball up and brings other into play....but in reality how much are we going to get the ball to him, and whats the likelihood of others being close enough to him without a defender of theirs covering, hah.

Yep. Orsi over Taylor for me.

We'll need to defend from the front and just hope that hassling them might result in a mistake.  That's Orsi's game rather than something Taylor can do from the start.

McAtee was hauled off at half-time on Saturday after what looked like a bit of a disagreement with Doig, didn't feature on Tuesday.  Not convinced he'll start on Sunday either.  He'll bring energy for sure but wouldn't surprise if Hurst reverts more to the Luton system of 2 banks of 2 central midfielders.

That Emmanuel didn't start midweek suggest to me he will on Sunday and that just leaves Smith or Efete, with my money going on the latter to get the nod.

I reckon Orsi will start as the pitch looks a lot bigger and there will be plenty of ground to cover, I suspect we’ll be covering that ground without the ball.

Agree with Stew

Need to go in at HT at 0-0 or better

Just look how Man C demolished Top side Burnley 6-0 despite being 0-0 at 30 minutes

Longer it stays 0-0, more chance we get a breakaway winner.

We need to park the bus for 89 minutes then surprise them with a 90th minute breakaway goal.

That's our only hope.

BUT

Whatever the score let the players know we are proud of them for getting us this far.

Be nice to get to Wembley though.  ;D
