Looks like the lad who refused to play with Montel Gibson has been on trial with us. 23 year old wing back so assume it would be cover for Efete.

Hurst has spoken about 'disrespectful behaviour of agents' towards GTFC. I hope we were not knowingly disrespectful to Stourbridge .

This crossed my mind after I posted it. Maybe it's come to light that the agent has told a few porkies and this is what Hurst was referring to?

I see your tinpot and raise you, (now ex) Manager and (now ex) Chairman allegedly playing an aerial game of musical chairs before allegedly discussing Windsor knots with extreme prejudice in the pub car park.

I’d have him if he’s any good or better than what we’ve got. Think we need to move away from building a team full of prefects considering some of the shítehouses we come up against every week.

I would normally agree, but he was a lad, on a lads holiday....

What he did was wrong, but he's not exactly a trouble maker within a club

As opposed to players and the non chairman spending all their time reading a fans forum and then arguing with fans on it even when they sold the club...

This guy sounds like a horrible little twit we should sign him right now. Could use a couple of ruthless and nasty players who will do anything to win.

I think this is naivety and/or ‘being a male private’ of the highest degree. But, each and everyone of us (am pretty sure) did some ridiculously immature sh1t when we were 18/19/20.

If it was GBH, assault etc then that’s a different kettle of fish and not as forgiving.

The young lads suddenly have a windfall of money that clubs throw at them without any clear education or guidance on what to do with it. They will see established players with the £200k cars and want the same

If Paul Hurst signs a player who a few years ago told Coventry fans he was leaving (he wasn't, but they sacked him anyway) whilst talking about his 'heavy' pockets and taking drugs on camera, then this excuse that he misses out on signings because he'll 'only sign the right characters' is blown right out of the water.

In fact, some people on here are going to be really struggling to come up with reasons as to why we haven't signed a striker yet if this idiot gets a shirt.

Wouldn’t exactly call snus ‘taking drugs’. It’s tobacco.

I think it's plainly obvious to anybody watching that video that he's high. Coventry saw enough to sack him, not sure how anybody could defend bringing him in.

Not only that but he's now called a club he's contracted at to tell them he's not bothering coming back. If we didn't make such a deal about only signing good characters I'd get it, but this guy is quite blatantly a bad apple

Quite a histrionic reaction to Stourbridge's chairman saying he'd phoned them from 'the Grimsby'. Maybe worth waiting for more to happen before clutching your pearls as it sounds like him and Gibson were both offered a trial somewhere and we're hardly going to be having a look at the latter are we?

FWIW, i didn't rate Gibson and i think the decision to give him a 3yr contract is up there with Serge Makofo gate - not to mention how daft he was having the party and broadcasting it on social media.

BUT, i don't really blame him for seizing an opportunity to get back in the league (if what has been reported is to be believed), and earn himself a full time wage playing football. It's a short career.

That video doesn't look very good does it but then we all do stupid stuff when we are young, but his actions got thrust into the limelight because he was a pro footballer at a decent club.

But, if we are looking at him, the wider picture doesn't look great does it when we consider Jordan Maguire-Drew arrived here in rather questionable circumstances too.

Gibson came in for a pile of crap on here because of his antics.

People change, people learn, and people grow. Very foolish and naïve behaviour for a pro footballer in that video but still a lad on a lads holiday.

I'm not sure it is snuff, looks a little more illicit than that and speaking as a seasoned addict yes, he is definitely high. But who knows whether he has learned from that or not? I myself sent a lot lot worse videos than that to my snapchat friends in my days, proper stomach churning stuff, yet here I am father of 3 clean and sober and smashing a degree at University whilst helping others who have the same problem I had.

People are allowed to learn from their mistakes, especially when they're young dumb and full of, well, gum. Give the lad a chance, trust in Hurst.

Speak for yourself.....I was a perfectly respectable and well behaved 20yr old, did lots of volunteer work and helped old dears across the road wherever possible.

I was 21 before I turned to drugs, alcohol, prostitutes and a life of crime to pay for it all .

Using the tried and tested defence founded by Phillip Day it's ok because nobody (other than Hickman) suffered any financial loss as a result of the videos.

For me it's not the video it's more the fact they've basically stuck their fingers up at the club that pay their wages. Should have spoken to the gaffer and chairman and if they weren't supportive or tried to work something out then walk away and go on trial. By the sound of it the vice chairman was willing to allow them to go but wanted them to hang on a week as they had a big game.

Did that penalty ever land…

Brodie is a funny one though, he was the player people talked about for a while, well before he signed for us. Then when he did people were buzzing about it, even other fans saw it as a good signing, I remember a Lincoln fan in my local at the time said to me ‘well, your title to lose then’ (we did haha) because they saw it as the missing link…funny how things turn out…

Did Brodie ever do anything other than just be a general shithouse whenever he played?  Unless I've missed something I can't recall him getting into trouble with the police?

The list of players we've had, especially in recent years, who have a history is getting longer.  Rightly or wrongly, it's reflective of modern society.  Especially for young lads who've been told they're gods gift at a young age.

How about we let Hurst judge if the lad is right for the squad and dressing room, seeing as he's more likely than any of us to have had a chance to judge his character first hand, rather than take this high and almighty and definitive attitude on something done a few years ago from a young (and stupid) lad?

I think its a clear indicator of how the national league has changed in quality over the last 10 or so years, even in the time we were previously down there. When we first went down wasnt there still some semi pro teams or at least theyd recently been semi pro, and the most notorious players in the division were usually masters of shithousery or fat centrebacks that you'd never see in the football league, having a paul mullin in your team would mean you'd run away with the league and half the teams we played at blundel park we expected to defend and cheat their way to a point or three. Now its basically EFL league 3 and the standard of football is far higher

Brodie made sense in this league right up until around the time we signed him

I am more than happy with the club signing anyone good enough despite their previous misdemeanours - I also believe in giving people a second chance and think people deserve the opportunity to change etc.

I think people are just speculating on whether this deal could happen now though with the big push to change the culture at the club. I doubt anyone would be foaming at the mouth should he get a contract.

There is still very much a belief that the national league is still like this.
'Will do him good get roughed up' that sort of stuff

When in fact, its very much the opposite these days

Completely agree.  Whilst he wasn't effective as that type for us, I felt we lacked a bit of shithouse in the team around that time.  We've also lacked one ever since, with the exception of when we had Mitch Rose.

McAtee certainly plays on the edge and the difficult thing is maintaining the aggression he has without him going in recklessly. We could do with a one behind him in the centre of midfield because it's just full of nice lads who probably say sorry a lot.

It seems Ian Evett at Bolton really liked his character when he was there. Seemingly he was hit by injuries that season. Seemed to do OK in Ireland and played on the Irish Cup final. Signed for Stalybridge to stay match fit after his release.

Clearly a trial is to test that character and I'm pretty sure Hurst will be contracting previous managers for there thoughts on him as a player and as a person.

You know what, I completely forgot about the shithousery that McAtee showed earlier in the season.  Maybe it's his absence through suspension and injury but it just escaped my mind.

Not sure he's the same level of a Mitch Rose or many of the other countless proper shithouses we've come up against in recent years. But he's definitely got that bit of swagger about him that can get the crowd going.
