Didn't think we played that bad against the league leaders if I'm honest, we certainly created a couple of chances in a tight game...

I'd mentally repressed the image of Crookes sticking it over the crossbar from two yards out in stoppage time, so that's ruined my morning.

Thought at the time if Bell had made a meal of the challenge on him (1 minute in) and rolled about a bit like teams seem to do against us we might just have been awarded a penalty.

Funny how I haven't watched any of these highlights for probably 8 out of 9 games. And I'm not watching this sodomist either.

I watched it about 27 times, convinced that he couldn't keep missing.

not sure at the time it was a foul in build up to goal convinced it wasn't now , how crookes miss  that open goal

Crookes has to score and Clifton needs to be getting that header on target. 2 big chances. Looks like we played fairly well, very similar to the Notts game.

Looks a clear barge in the back to me, no need to do it, their player was facing the wrong way.

I’d imagine that the Chesterfield edition of the highlights would make it look as if they were all over us especially if they had a similar commentary. I’d prefer to see the other 85 minutes before agreeing that we’d played fairly well.

Highlights show how shite the team were, 0 shots on target  usually means no goals.

Shows how much we need a striker who knows what he is doing ,, and of a good standard.. if not  just say your not going for it and let the crowds decide if its worth going or not

Given up contesting people who post cobblers, so yes…you’re both absolutely right. Do carry on. I’m sure we’re all gaining something from your overreactions, just can’t specify what it is..? 🥱🤔

Saw the other 85 minutes, can agree we played fairly well.

Hope this helps.

Just watched the vid and wondered why Hurst plays LJL. The other week he fails to hold the ball up, he can't shoot and this week he failed to defend and let them score. I'm not sure he was the right person to mark their scorer but, to me, he's passed it and should retire. Let's not forget he was very good but time has caught up on him and we did get him from a league below us.

As for Crookes, well I think he went for the glory goal to burst the net and cost us a point. From the highlights, we seem to have played well and missed chances to score, that said it's another defeat.

It’s funny how a couple of posts say’ oh by the look of that we played quite well!’. It makes me wonder how many people on here actually go to the games and can give a proper opinion…….yes we played well and matched them, all is not lost at this point in the season !

more than matched them & in nearly all our defeats we been done by the odd goal, notts chesterfield we certainly didn't deserve to lose both games but goals win games & you can't explain the crookes miss

Thanks Rob. It does help. I never express an opinion if I haven’t been at the game myself or watched it in full on TV. Brief highlights or radio commentary are no basis for judging the team’s performance.

I'd say we competed well and didn't deserve to lose. Didn't play particularly well, however.

We were the better team against Notts County but still lost. I'm not sure we were the better team against Chesterfield. Same result, however.

Clifton should have scored early doors, Crookes should have scored late on. However the biggest question for me is why oh why wasn’t it someone’s job, and preferably not a striker, to be all over Tshimanga at a set piece?

The vast majority of his goals this season have come from about 6 yards having reacted more quickly to a situation than the defenders. I get that he’s not the biggest bloke in the world so it may not have made sense for one of our three centre halves to be man marking him, but surely it should have been the job of Fox of Coke to simply not give him a sniff?

I don’t know, it just seems like such a basic oversight that I wouldn’t have expected from a Paul Hurst team. It’s no good being the better team between boxes if we make crucial errors in them.

This is a key point I feel and completely fair and balanced.

Who was Taylor marking at set pieces when he was on?

Footballers make mistakes. It happens at every level, every weekend and players like Tshimanga live for that one opportunity. If everything was defended correctly every time, there would be very few goals scored in matches.

They made some mistakes too, but we didn't punish them.

I agree, highlights (particularly earlier in the season) have been quite biased this year. However, I must say these particular highlights do accurately reflect the game I saw.

Good to see there are still a lot of sensible fans around. We were down to bare bones on Saturday and we were as good as top of the league Chesterfield.

Clifton misses a header though and Crookes misses the goal from under the bar and then the idiots call for Hurst’s head.

It is a game of fine margins but wake up people. The man in the dugout wasn’t responsible for those misses. The thing he was responsible for was the team and the tactics. He had his hands tied with regards both and still could have got a win there on another day.

I didn’t see the point to the Taylor sub because a 50% Taylor is as good as a 100% Lenny in my book but there you go. Hurst made that choice and a series of events led him to (not) be on Thsimanga for the goal. Probably the only blemish against Hurst on Saturday for me but again he can’t make players not switch off lose their man.

im certainly not calling for Hursts head but 8 defeats in 9 folk are going to be disgruntled

And it’s fine to be disgruntled - it’s a horrendous run and nobody likes losing. What is annoying and unfair is how the disgruntlement is expressed. Not one player or the manager deserved booing on Saturday. If Hurst didn’t deserve sacking before the game then he shouldn’t deserve the sack after because other than the result there was nothing bad about it. The new owners don’t deserve any grief either.

A far too reasoned and sensible comment. Are you posting on the right board?

Well said Quebec, I was at the match and other than the result I enjoyed the game as we were toe to toe with them and really should have at least got the draw but that’s football. I once again have been taken aback by the out pouring of discontent. I mean yes the run is terrible but it’s not as black and white as it looks. It’s pointless arguing though I feel, everyone is entitled to their opinions but I hope we stick with what we have as in Hurst. I’ve a feeling the new year will be much better for us. UTM!

We all know we lost but there's very little a manager can do about somebody missing open net half a yard out

You know exactly what he means Ipswin ffs!! I know it’s difficult for you to attend but maybe if you were able to you would be a little more reasonable and constructive in your comments from what you can actually see, rather than listening to the radio and reading on here…….

We were quite a bit better than Notts County on the day but lost as well. It happens, unfortunately.
