Pleased to see Crocombe given a shot and good to see McAtee back in the XI. Lovely stuff.

Could be towler in left back, didn’t he play there for Bristol city?

Not too surprised to see some of those being dropped for this one. Looks like a change in approach to start getting some points on the board away from home.

Left wing back could actually be a great position for clifton, hes got the energy to get up and down, and got a decent shot on him if he cuts inside

Hmmm. If I had a pound every time I'd seen us unsuccessfully attempt to play 3 at the back, I'd have quite a few quid now. My concern is that none of those three at particularly good with the ball at their feet, from what I've seen. Not terrible, but not much good so we'll need to be well on the front foot to make a success of it.

Reading the daggers forum earlier, seems they've lost the ability to defend so would like to see us throw the kitchen sink a them. Suspect it's going to be a cautious affair

Only problem is he can't cross a ball with his left very well makes him easy to mark if you know he's cutting in every time

I think Towler can play a bit and I don’t think you can fully judge Longe-King from what we’ve seen so far.

If its 5 at the back Hunt and Fox mke up the midfield two I'm guessing either McAtee or JMD as a AMC behind two striker but which one do you think it'll be or do you think they'll rotate betwen the two of them.
Personally I still think its 451 with Towler at LB, but it'll be interesting if it is a back 5.

You make a good point, no wonder some boos are coming from our fans. JT has said nobody to clear the ball to so why aren't they moving around to create spaces. Looking at the bench Revan had a bad time at left back last time out so how is Hurst going to change things?

Make no mistake, goal aside we've been awful. The formation is a mess, there's massive amounts of space for them to exploit on the flanks, even with 5 at the back. Towler clearly isn't a left (wing) back and they're taking massive advantage of him not knowing how to position himself. Dagenham have loads of players out and are very vulnerable down their left. When Efete finally linked up with JMD in stoppage time and got round the back we grabbed an undeserved equaliser after a nice pull back and neat near post McAtee finish, but we need to switch it up tactically at HT cos we're a mess at the back.

Not much in it for the 1st half but the first decent attack and we score. I don't recall JT mentioning Maguire Drew much, it's as if he's not there. I know he's new but he is in the team. Has he not had the ball much or have they marked him out of the game?

Our Goal came from about the only decent bit of play. Tidy finish. Longe king struggling. Towler not a left back . No movement in midfield. Some aimless punts up field. We’ve made daggers look good. 1-1 flatters us. Hurst needs to get into them and perhaps replace LK at HT. UTM

Dunno why we dragged Taylor off for LJL - all he's managed to do is trip himself up while in possession under no pressure. Should have put Bapaga on, might have won a penalty. LJL offers nothing.

I cannot think of one good thing to say about that performance or any of our last eight performances.
We only just sneaked a win against Southend.
Hurst has stifled any flair and creativity out of our team.
He will be gone in the Nee Year hopefully never to return.

If the Internet / social media would have been around in the first two Buckley epochs, Sir Alan would have been abused like an MPs expense claim.
He would have walked or punched someone after a couple of weeks of shït on here. Sir Alan would have have done a hell of a lot more than cup his ear too.

Sorry but you’re delusional if you feel you can put Hurst into the same camp / level as AB!!
One took the club from its lowest ebb to championship football, not once but twice. The other took six years to get us out of the fifth tier.

Way, way harder to escape the fifth tier than the fourth tier. Four promotion places in L2.
Success is wages driven in a way it never was in Buckley’s era.

After yesterday, once again it highlighted the amount of ducking morons that’s follow town. Is it because we don’t have many fans as it is so the moron element is highlighted more or have we got more than most.
Among the racist muttering is some drunken idiots, the obsession with Paul Hurst being short and the rotund chap just stomping about like a baby shouting Hurst out and the setting the grey example to his son threatening people
Becauee someone tried chinking his equally mouthy kid it was a successful day…
Sometimes I scratch my head, was bad enough watching our defence (except waterfall) fall apart for two goals and our alleged best player seemingly get sent off for a pointless challenge, you then have to contend with those morons…

Buckley spent the kind of money we could only dream about spending in 1997 too and then followed it up by spending £500k on Lee Ashcroft. Since then, we've barely spent a penny on transfers. I mean earlier this week we had to get a player to get out of his contract before signing him on a free.

You have to remember that some fans haven’t ever really come to terms with the fact we’re a no mark non league side these days, not still kicking about in the championship…

We were a much bigger club in 2010 having been in the second tier 7 years previously.
Fast forward to 2021 and we've spent most of the last 11 years in non-league.

That’s about as relevant as saying Cockerill’s first against Exeter was a foul and his second was offside. Horrendous refereeing decisions cost us in the play offs under Hurst 2 years running and yet you highlight an injury to one player as the reason we got promoted after 50 odd games. Bizarre

Those two decisions at Gateshead and Wembley were absolutely outrageous, not to mention the then generally reliable McKeown throwing one into the net early in that Gateshead game.
You have to give him that. But in terms of butterfly effect scenarios, Gregor Robertson getting injured early in the season at Braintree and causing us to bring in Conor Townsend had a massive effect on our finishing position that season - we may well not have made the play-offs without his massive contribution.

Trust you to come out with such codswallop PP. JS has never said anything about not spending money that you have. Buckley’s big spending in 97 and 98 came from transfer fees (Mendonca £700k, Oster £1.5m) and increased ticket receipts (two Wembley finals).

I mean the player that apparently lied to get out of his contract and then immediately signed for us. Absolutely no chance that came from ethical intentions. And there's no way they'd let him go for nothing if they knew the team that were 3rd in the league were about to sign him the next day.

He's not wrong though, the Monkhouse injury was the best thing that happened for us that season as it forced Hurst to stop playing long ball after long ball after long ball to him over and over again just for us to lose everytime as team just started to double mark him.

The word is “allegedly” not “apparently”. Not saying that there aren’t questions to answer, but it’s just like you to take the other side without question. Or did you criticise Fenty when he poached Scott and Hurst from Boston?

I don't have a problem with it if we sneakily signed a player. Woking were stupid for releasing his registration. Football is cut throat and although it's immoral, I don't really care.
What I do care about is a person that's in the national press preaching fairness, equality and respect yet actions of signing players like this and offering minimum wage jobs are not at all in line with what he's publicly saying.
This absolutely sounds like a Fenty move. And the knives would have been out the second that video was released.

This is why I think Woking aren't quite telling the truth. Surely you would retain his registration and say he can move on a free to a part-time team lower down the pyramid if he chooses to but anyone at this level must pay.

So you're saying the board knew about the conversation between JMD and Woking then?...don't be so soft in the head, if JMD did say something along the lines of his head wasn't in football it was probably more to do with the fact he was
drunk off with Wokings style of play rather than that being fed up with football per se...
And I have no doubt Hurst(certainly not the owners who admit they leave all football decisions to the management) was not privy to any conversation that's led to JMDs Woking contract being cancelled.

Approaching a contracted player during the season is against the rules. They used to make a big deal about players being "tapped up". We needed Woking's permission to talk to him, which clearly they didn't know about it, or we were being unethical and breaking the rules/law.
You're soft in the head if you think he left them and signed for us the next day without any contact being made between us and his representatives before he asked to leave.

Did I say no contact was made??..no I didn't, I pulled you up on alleging we knew of his reason (again an alleged reason) of how his contract was cancelled.
And who's to say his agent didn't contact Hurst and let him know he was fed up at Woking and would be open to signing for town if he could get his contract cancelled?..
Pipe, shove it and smoke it!..always 2 stories to be told and one thing I do know, we'll never be made aware of the facts and tvh, I don't give a sh,!t as long as he gives 100% whilst wearing a town shirt
