It is time for a sensible thread on here!

Which pubs are we all planning on frequenting for Aldershot?

I am going on Train and I have been told The George is a good place by the station.

any other favourites/recomendations?

Across the road from the George is a Chinese buffet restaurant, absolutely class.

Rpyal Staff on Mount Pleasant Road looks okay and pretty close to the ground. Think it was the White Lion we used to go in, but that's closed at present

Might be advisable to not go into a pub full of Paras.

Depends what time you are getting to Aldershot. The Lion Brewery, Guildford rd near Ash, Hogs back Brewery is just up the road too. In Aldershot you have Golden Lion, The George. (Not bad for real ale) Imperial standard and Garden Gate are decent….. then you have The Vic(Spoons) top of the town…….ATFC fan here too so enjoy your trip

Royal Staff for me also I think. Meeting up with old workmate who is a Arsenal season ticket holder.

Car going from Northampton if anyone is interested in a lift.

further info

The George up in the town is 10 mins walk. One I didn’t mention is The Crimea adjacent to the ground. Not sure what’s on tap but real ales are decent with guest beers…… gets busy obviously on match days but away fan friendly

I'm going by train so my plan is go in the George first for a drink then take a slow stroll from that to the ground, if I see any pubs on the way which appear decent then I may pop in there also for a quick one.

After the game I am getting quite a late train back (not going to Grimsby) so I will go for another few drinks in the George again!

Yes I see that now, I have been reading a book that told of wild nights in Aldershot when the Paras went to town.

Yeah, the 80s and 90s were pretty lively down there
