Glad to see Dennis and RHJ ( we missed him against  Swindon) in today. Nothing against Cookie but Dennis is a class above his movement off the ball is brilliant and RHJ just provides us with something more when we go forward and pace at the back when we are defending.

A lot of teams around us playing each other. There's a good chance we could be 4 points off the play offs by the end of the day.

I wish Embelton would play the ball earlier sometimes. Cambridge look poor. If we get the first goal I think they'll crumble l.

Great ball from RHJ to Dennis there too tight an angle to get a real good shot off though

Nice move there by town, comes from hall johnsons movement as when he last played, think he should always play personally

decent run and effort by Dennis. I think Town are playing ok, quite bright

Like I said earlier in the thread I thought we missed RHJ at Swindon, his pace going forward and his defensive efforts makes a difference

Macca saves us again. Defence too busy putting their hands up for the offside instead of playing to the whistle

Posted by: sonofmadeleymariner, March 2, 2019, 3:48pm; Reply: 31
Embleton doesn't seem himself today very off the boil. We need to be making more diagonal balls and direct balls we're too flat just passing it 5 yards from side to side.
Posted by: Maringer, March 2, 2019, 3:51pm; Reply: 32
Bright first 10 minutes when we passed it around nicely without creating much (and they kicked it to us pretty much every time they got the ball). Worse and worse after that. Passing is slow and inaccurate, all the midfielders are having games to forget and the forwards are isolated. Cambridge have become more of a threat as the half has progressed as we've given them the confidence to pass it around quite decently at times.

This is a game where the wing-backs aren't getting involved enough, either in defence or attack.

Half-time rollicking required!
Posted by: HertsGTFC, March 2, 2019, 3:51pm; Reply: 33
Well that was a half of 2 halves!

First 15 or so zippy passing & pressing then over complicated it and regressed.

Embleton far too deep and Hendrie has loads of space but no possession.
Posted by: scott_gtfc_89, March 2, 2019, 3:51pm; Reply: 34
Why is embo playing so deep? His basically sitting in front of the defenders half the game, need him behind the striker making things happen, very poor first half from town.

Lethargic....
Zero movement
Zero pace
Zero efforts on goal

Massive hole in the middle when we get the ball...Clifton joins the front line Hess drops in at right centre and Embleton too deep.

Massive half time this for Jolley ....needs shaking up or we are sleepwalking to a loss
Posted by: immariner, March 2, 2019, 3:58pm; Reply: 38
Macclesfield MkII so far. Cambridge have little quality but we've made them look decent by being so slow in deed and in thought  Embleton has wanted too much time on the ball and so many moves have broken down for this reason. Crosses in to the box have been poor at best and the ball just hasn't stuck to Thomas. The lack of urgency for a side supposedly chasing the play offs has been very surprising. Mentality just seems off.

Id just make a couple of early changes, try and inject something into the team because im not seeing anything different so far
Vernam for embleton at least, not many options on the bench really

Embleton has been off the boil since December time in my opinion.

Ohman was an enforced change as was Woolford and if you saw people on Twitter and Facebook the vast majority wanted Dennis in for Cook

D'oh! I didn't realise Woolford was an enforced change. I wouldn't have changed Cook, him and Thomas were linking well the past few games.

Really hope Collins is not offered a new contract end of season, at 39 his simply just past it now, dizza didn’t get offered one for his experience so neither should Collins, missed Ohman today in the Center

Aye, but I'm not that much of an optimist.  ;)

7th is far as I look, unless the ones above have played more games.

Poor all round, RHJ looked like the only player who would create anything. Collins, Thomas, Clifton, Embleton looked poor and not a lot of positive for the others (Again Macca kept us in it) We seemed to have no real pace or ingenuity in the team today and I hope Ring is still getting used to English football as he is so weak side by side and gets easily knocked off the ball by every opponent.
Just watch us win by 4 next week with the same line up. :)

It would be better to stay down this season and strengthen in the summer,

Then go and win the league next season.

We will need too many additions this summer if we do go up,

Get the 2 or 3 new lads in to get us up and then hopefully will only need another 2 or 3 when  we are L1.

Keeping the best of what we already have oviously .

Priority in the summer for me is another striker.

Ring has said in an interview about the difference in physicality in the leagues. As long as he sticks with it, beefs up a bit, he was getting himself in some really good positions today and a few times was on the receiving end of poor passes. I think he’ll come good
