Full Town debut for Pringle.  Not quite a must-win, but beating teams below us should give us a nice cushion until January.

Bit disappointed that the only player we've got who can beat a man has been dropped. Quite like Vernam being in the team, gives us a bit of dynamism..

Can only hope it's a sign that Pringle is at full match sharpness. Some good cameos so far, just need some longer spells from him.

Pleased to see Pringle given a start. I think Vernam flatters to deceive, though I'd have probably swapped Pringle for Hooper instead.

Jolley got slautered on here last week for taking JJ off. Now we want him dropped!

Who'd be a manager eh?

Pleased to see Pringle finally play and presume this will be on the left, with Hooper playing centrally. In my opinion, Vernam is a better player than Hooper so naturally a bit disappointed to see the former dropped whilst the latter plays, but can only think that maybe Jolley feels it's a fixture better suited to JJ.
I hope all are vindicated.

We seem to have more of the ball and some good moved but don't really look dangerous.

McKeown pulled off a fantastic save late on in the half to keep us in it.

You must be listening to the Scunny commentary then as hes the only one doing anything 😂 well till Jolley made him and Hooper switch flanks, now neither of them are in the game.

Awful, boring half of "football" from us just pointless hoofs into space with no one in sight.

451 isn't working at all, we've got no support up front and aren't winning the midfield battle and they are passing it round us at times like we don't exist.

Well...45 mins with the usual lack of goal threat ....Thomas just strolling around up front looks disinterested....Clifton looking strong in midfield but any promising moves or possession we get simply grind to a halt around the box....
Should have been 1-0 down but poor header from 6 yds gave Macca the chance to save...

we are clueless anywhere near the penalty area. Passes/kicks out of defense usually nowhere near the forwards - overhitting balls by a mile. As its against a relegation rival this is a vital game for us. We are making them look goood. Peopple who say we are ttooo good for relegation need to watch this game later

Despite being completely outplayed Scunny have 2 goals back. Their 2nd a free kick, does make you wonder how many points we lose in games through not utilising set pieces, corners and free kicks are barely worth bothering with, I had hoped that Embleton was the cure for this but seemingly not, so far...

You don't win games without scoring goals....simple as that..Embleton has had all of our best chances today and   only troubled the keeper with 1 out of 4 chances.
Thomas disinterested...Hooper's and Hall Johnson delivery from wide awful...

One real defensive slip cost us the point in reality
Posted by: RoboCod, November 3, 2018, 5:00pm; Reply: 62
Crazy. No player capable of converting a full chance. much less a true 'poachers' half-chance and no one to urge us on and make us believe we can grab something.

The relevance of the Scunny game is that they were awful, 3-0 down and out and didn't even bother with a second half resurgence, they basically kept calm (and not particularly good) and almost accidentally stumbled upon THREE goals.

It just shows how pi$$-poor we are in terms of attacking play.
Posted by: Madeleymariner, November 3, 2018, 5:01pm; Reply: 63
Utter dog, lots of endeavour, not one clearcut chance, just snap shots from the edge of the area. The keeper only had to make one real save all game to the only decent shot we had. Its going to be a long hard season, lets hope someone else is as bad as Macclesfield.  :o

Two teams that lacked any real quality, excrement defending by Hooper led to their goal. Special mention for  Clifton for his effort, Embleton for at least getting some shots on target and Collins who I thought was immense.

Thought we deserved a draw.
Posted by: sonofmadeleymariner, November 3, 2018, 5:10pm; Reply: 67
We turned up for 15 minutes today and I think that paints the full picture.
451 was a failure, we neither controlled the midfield or really threatended the goal, we set up not to lose and defended far too deep. No link up between the 3 phases of the squad and Thomas was more isolated then Tom Hanks on Cast Away. Really struggling for anything positive about this match.

There is definately a lack of composure on the ball. IIts like a hot potato. When its passed to a town player we seem to think we should 'flick it' to the next playerrather  than pass it or run with it whch results in us losing posession all the time which makes it difficult to win an game.

It's not just our "strikers" at fault, there is nobody running through from midfield. We are set up as a defensive team whether we are playing home or away. Our forwards [whoever they are] get no support.Nearly everybody is being played out of their favoured position so we are not playing to their strengths. I like Jolly but it is becoming more evident that he is  still learning the job.

I don’t support a big team
I have to admit I am feeling fed up with it all at the minute
When will it change
How will it change
Who will change it , for all his polish I’m not sure if MJ seems to be moving us forward
Please Please not back to Boreham Wood next season
TBH if was offered 3rd from bottom at end of season would take it now
Surely I deserve to have better and happier prospects than this

The stats don't lie defensively we are reasonable but attacking play our statistics are appalling.  You have just got to convert more chances, of course, it helps if somebody plays in touch with the frontman. Thomas is expected to do too much in my opinion.

Absolutely right Golfer, that is what I have been saying for weeks. The midfield must get in front of the ball and into the box otherwise any player making a pass towards goal only has one player to aim at ....... so the pass has to be incredibly good for it to create a goal chance. With 2 or 3 players in there the odds are that much better. Then of course you need somebody who has that knack of getting the ball over the line.

Jolley has shown he can learn from his mistakes, we cannot wait until the transfer window for him to learn from this one though.

Like many i feel that John Fenty still being owner is a millstone around the clubs neck, but lets be honest,
this is Michael Jolleys  team ( he signed most of them) and these are Michael Jolleys formations and tactics, you have to wonder if we have been guilty of over egging MJ's abilities, he can talk the talk, but can he really walk the walk? i dont know, what i do know however is that 10 goals scored in 16 games is utterly disgraceful.

What new owners ?
If he walked now...he could put the club in admin by demanding his loans back....if he didnt demand his money back instantly and just left we would be left with the existing board members...none of whom have put any significant sums in or have any significant funds themselves.

Without a solid takeover bid coming in then the best option would be a negotiated farewell ...but again who would lead that ? The Trust dont seem powerful enough or have the political will  ;) to do so.

I just dont believe there are any investors out there beating at the door to come in, if there was ,someone would have heard something by now and leaked it.

I have been following Grimsby Town for nearly 50 years and have been through many highs and lows over the years but the tenure of John Fenty and the rest of the board has just about killed my love for the club. How can one person and his chosen few destroy our entertainment on a Saturday afternoon?
Personally I am at a point where the board can just leave and do whatever harm they want to do to the club, allegedly the main shareholder is a GTFC fan so surely he wouldn't want to kill the club, and let us find a way forward without the shackles that are holding the club back.
If it means going backwards to come back again over time so be it because at the moment the club is going that way with one persons hold over the club.
If you are a Grimsby Town ,John Fenty, walk away and at least let the club have a chance of finding a way forward.

Obviously, it wouldn't in the immediate term, but it is the bigger picture we are looking at.

Can I just clarify the following in layman's language? The fans buy the tickets, then that accumulated amount is to be used for the playing budget. Fenty then decides how much of that money can be used on players / staff wages to make sure he doesn't have to make up a shortfall, thereby incurring no risk?

In the unfortunate event that he does have to cover a shortfall, he lends us the money so he still doesn't suffer any losses - at least in theory?

If I am wrong about that no doubt someone will be along shortly to put me right, but for the value of having an insurance policy (Mr Fenty) we have had next to no investment in the club for years (bar the fans ticket money) and all that on the back of investing some money in the club some 17 years ago.

In that time he has enjoyed full and total control and all the trappings that go with it, very little risk and has overseen a dramatic decline in all aspects of the clubs fortunes on and off the pitch in all the years he has been in charge.

If this is the sum total of it all, I think it is justifiable for fans to be calling for change.
