A leader in the middle of the park is a good plan, if he is good enough to be a first choice starter, and I guess this indicates that MJ thinks that he is

Less important to me who wears the armband.
More important we have several characters like this in the team.
Macca, Collins and Welsh will all be the same leaders through the spine of our team whether they've got an armband on or not.

Think he's given Welsh the arm band purely on him being a gritty midfielder and expects him to lead by example....certainly think Welshy would put a rocket up a few @rses if they don't pull their weight for the team...
