Another rumour scotched. When i heard this rumour on Sat, i thought, why the hell would he want to come here?

Surely no-one actually believed that, did they?!

Evidently Fleetwood paid "a six-figure sum" for him, so we weren't going to get close to him

Well this is the problem isn't it?

We won't pay anything for quality players which is why we have been in leagues 4 and 5 for God knows how many years.

We (Fenty) just seem to hope for the best; that a manager (any one will do) will be able to create a winning team without adequate investment. He might get lucky someday, but as with everything else there isn't a plan on how to achieve success on or off the field.

It's amazing that a player Scunny don't want is completely out of our league. you will only have to look at how they conduct their business in this window to see their ambition. We will be dipping in the bargain basement again.

Is that the same Scunthorpe who cocked up their latest ground relocation, or am I mistaken?

Yeah the same ones that are now committing £16m to redevelop their current ground. They are completely out of our league with their ambition.

This is the problem, no ones listens to Fenty, it's called football fortune and he truly believes we are due some.

Shouldn't take long if that 7 steps to Kevin Bacon theory is right.

It's not amazing at all. It's just how tinpot we have become since our self-inflicted sojourn into The Dog & Duck League. Unfortunately, our custodian seems hell-bent on not learning the lessons of last time.

or unable to learn from past mistakes, he just buries them in the goal mouth, that would explain why they are so high compared to the rest of the pitch  ;).

Scunthorpe have a really good track record of unearthing strikers.

Fenty could have stumped up the cash and he still wouldn't have signed. We’re in League two, Scunny and Fleetwood are in League One. End of discussion.

Unfortunately, Scunny's owner is better at the rich man's vanity project side of things than ours. Not surprising as he's got more to fritter away.

Working at the steelworks I am surrounded by scunny fans, well they all claim to be but obviously don't go, so the story they tell is that it's his wife who is the Wilkinson family, but about a year ago they sold their share for around £50 million. He has casino and business interest around Blackpool so he eventually may finish up there, once the Oystons have plundered as much as they can. Who knows he may have looked at us but thought the benign loans and low value of the ground put him off.

"His family fortune was estimated to be £340 million in 2013"

Think the sale of Wilko is neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things. Suffice to say, he has a lot more dosh than we do.

I don't know what point you are trying to make. Swann has a sh1tload more cash than Fenty is the only relevant part. It's why they can afford better players and a £16 million stadium upgrade. It's not from their attendances is it?

Wouldn't like to be paying the mortgage on £16 million, even in the championship they can only get 5-6 thousand, unless they hope to get to the premier.

They're likely to be two leagues ahead of us again next season though.

Why do they have to be in the area? There are lots of overseas individuals & businesses that put money into British football.

Might be a good start if Marley and Day put a bit of decent cash in as I doubt they have and the major share holder makes his loans truly "benign".

They bring their expertise Herts. Apparently. As opposed to the Trust, which by inference, had no expertise in the collective CVs of its membership.

I heard that the Swann was flying over Glanford Park on his way to buy Grimsby Town and was so impressed by what he saw of Scunthorpe, he demanded that his chopper land straight away so he could marvel at the scenery and soak in the history before meeting Mr Wharton and offering him a deal he couldnt refuse.
Well, that and the fact he didnt think paying the John Fenty fee represented good value
