Just watched the 'highlights' and can't understand how on earth that penalty wasn't given last night!!! How can a player go straight up then diagonal! Reminds me of a very similar incident with Livvo (I think) when we played villa years ago.

Now, am not saying we would've gone on to win, but it certainly couldn't have been any worse than a defeat.

Keep 5hite refs in the conference for gods sake

A Colchester fans view of the incident.......

"Having just seen the penalty incident on the Player highlights, Bogle does himself no favours at all. It's nothing more than Prosser leaning into him, without any real force, and Bogle goes flying through the air like he's been completely shoved. No more a penalty than Guthrie being sandwiched in the first half (which wasn't a penalty either)."

I'm not going to lie, I do think Bogle made too much of it. It was a foul, but come on, he was barely off the ground and the guys leaned on him, the way he went into the net it was like the defender was a trampoline.

I was directly in line with the incident and had a clear view. Bogle got a shove in mid air, momentum took him into the goal. He didn't have to make more of it. Obvious penalty, please don't criticise one of our players for something he didn't do. Only thing we got from the ref and the lino last night was not giving a second yellow to Boyce, giving us enough time to get him subbed.

Just seen highlights on sky (one goal missing) but in the build up to on of there goals gowling is clearly been pulled back by one of their players.

Seems like we did not get luck of the green at all but we need move on play better and get back to making bp a hard place to come.

Utm 3 points Saturday 😊

It is simply not possible to jump vertically (which Bogle did) but then somehow land 3 yards in front of your starting point without getting a shove of some sort. The defender deliberately barged into him with his back turned so no attempt to play the ball - it's as clear a penalty as you will see and therefore a red card as well. Cowardly incompetence from the referee.

However crap we may have played for some of the game, there is no excuse for the officials failing to do their jobs properly and bottling such an obvious decision. That could be a potentially lost point which is the difference between staying up and doing down or (hopefully) getting promotion/into the play-offs.

If the defender had pick the ball out of the air and shoved it up his shirt,

The ref still would not have given us a penalty,

He hates us for some reason.

No red card i think if a penalty is given under the new rulings, a penalty award equals a yellow only, anywhere else on the pitch and i think it would have been given but also on the highlights i think they had an equal claim when Guthrie (?) got sandwiched but got nothing, again i think anywhere else and that would have been a free kick.

Cr@p decisions happen, we shouldnt play that badly to start with to be grasping at straws about what maybe could have happened if ....etc etc.
They looked sharper all over the pitch and we looked pedestrian and p1ss poor in possession..thats why we lost.

Nope, if you deliberately foul someone to stop a goalscoring opportunity in the box you'll still be sent off. It's only a yellow & a penalty if the ref deems it to be a genuine attempt to play the ball (which shoving a striker in the back mid-jump clearly isn't).

It honestly looks like a dive to me no matter how many times I look at it. He knew he wasn't winning that header so took a theatrical dive. There was contact and those have been given but I'd honestly see it as unfair had we got a penalty and scored from that and many certainly would if it happened to us.He just jumps into him I don't see a shove that justifies him flying through the air.

Not defending the reason we lost but that looked as  clear a penno as you could get Omar did nothing wrong it was a clear push.

Got to agree just barged straight into Bogles back with no attempt to play the ball, clear penalty.

Their player didn't even attempt to challenge for a header - he wasn't close enough to do so, hence the body check - so why would Bogle think he wasn't going to win it? Honestly, it is absolutely nuts that anybody thinks he dived about 2 yards from the goal when a free header into an open goal was on offer. Baffling.

In Hurst's post match, he said that even the Colchester bench thought it was a penalty.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion mate, but you're absolutely off your t1ts to not see that clear barge in the back as a penalty. It's a penalty everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. As Maringer says - he's got an empty net to head that ball into and the hefty shove is clearly evident on the video.
You need your eyes testing.

I've just watched the highlights and that is a penalty...100%.

As Maringer said, it's impossible to fly forward if you're already jumping upwards without a firm shove. Try it.

If Bogle could do that sort of thing he could also be in the Olympics gymnastics squad.

Clear penalty. A goal chance so soon after Dizza's and they would have been rattled. As it turned out all they had to do was sit back (10 men behind the ball for a lot of the second half) and fall down every now and again and get free kicks. Appalling decisions all night by the ref and the lino on our side.

Colchester were clearly better than us, but we could have snatched an unlikely draw if the rules had been applied fairly.

You assume he wasn't trying to jump forward in the first place.

The ball was too high mate. He was never going to score mate. He wasn't even jumping for the ball mate. He jumped forward after the defender bumped into him mate.

What's baffling is people see that as a certain goal if he didn't jump and fall on the floor. I get this is the town fans forum and we are biased by nature but bloody hell. It's too high for him to get a header unless he starts doing some amazing jumps into the air and it looks like it's heading out of play as soon as it hits the floor. The way I see it that was just an act of desperation trying to win a penalty when he saw the chance from a team that didn't perform so had to resort to that.

What goes up must come down - and the ball was coming down. Right around where Bogle was standing.

You're nuts, Kris.  :)

I take it you haven't seen the clip then or weren't there to see it in person.

How the food do you fly through the air like that without being pushed?!

Like I said. Try it. Get your attempt filmed and post it on-line. If you pull it off, it'll be an internet sensation.
