Beverley races is a right hoolie fest. This could have been announced days ago

it is a bit of a joke (and a cost) to expect Humberside Police to supply enough cops on a bank holiday at such short notice. These ties have been planned for Sunday for ages.

There will be loads of people completely drunk at Beverley Races but they will not be arrested. The same happens at a football match and there would be scores of arrests and banning orders

BT sport 'requested' a change?

Request declined. Both 2nd legs on Sunday 12.45 & 4pm.

Sorted!

They've paid 28p for the rights, they've got to have a say!

Still failing to see why at least the away legs couldn't be announced earlier? Is there a big PL game on the Sunday on Sky or are BT more bothered about getting the rugby or MotoGP out over the town game?

Fair enough it's our beloved police force holding it up but this has no doubt affected thousands of fans from all clubs involved. They really should have had this set in stone months ago for all parties benefit.

Suggestion that the legs could be swapped in @gtfcprogramme's opinion on Twitter . Grow up Humberside Police, FFS.

What a complete fu*k about. Only just changed my shift on the Sunday so I could make it and now hear about this. I just hope it is played on the Sunday as don't think I would be able to make the Monday game.

I wonder what member of Humberside police could be behind this...

Spot on Chris. Same applies to Rugby. South West London. Oval ball game. Get drunk, smash glass, be generally roady, scrap. All just hi-jinks. No harm done. Same thing associated with round ball game = Armageddon. Something MUST be done!

It's the same old assault on what is perceived as a working class sport. With the lack of miners* on strike to cosh over the head, football fans will do.

Sadly for the Old Bill, Thatcher was too effective at ending that*

Not quite sure how beverley races is quite the same public order situation as a football match. Yes people do drink at the races and I am a frequent attender at beverley racecourse, but I have never seen any trouble there, but if they are on the same day only one winner there then, it has to be town. The races are not policed hardly anyway, a couple of community support officers and racecourse stewards normally police it.

I am going to be seething to high heaven if they even begin to contemplate switching the home and away legs.

Do we really need police at GTFC v Eastleigh or FGR?

Only for the inevitable end of season pitch invasion you'd think

One of the things I hate about playoffs is the pitch invasion, mainly because of the fat 'see you next tuesdays' who seem to spend their time taunting me in the past couple of years.

THIS. You beat me to it. All we need is for some stewards at full time to 'guard' the away fans at full time. I doubt anyone will be there looking for trouble, they should just leave us alone. If it was Bristol or Lincoln fair enough.
