Alan has turned down a new contract at Braintree and is talking to a third party,

I wonder who they are ?

He has done a great job at Braintree but they did not offer him a rise.

I hope it will not concern us next season.

Ebbsfleet I reckon. They have money and are local.

Maidenhead and Margate are two other possibilities.

He will stay non league.

They're all good shouts. It'll be somebody non league, within 50 miles of London and with a few quid to spend.

What sort of financial state are Braintree in? Devonshire took over after they were promoted to the Conf. He'd done well with Hampton before that (almost taking them up to the Conference in 2009) but the Beavers were massively overspending and have been paying the price since.

Just wondering if Devonshire is a sort of non-League Redknapp.

A bit harsh...it appears that Devonshire has some level of tactical ability and can fill in tax forms all by himself...

Does he also suffer from made-up injuries?

"The Beavers" is possibly the best nickname in English football.

Come on the Beavers! Oo-Er

That has been heard a few times down at the Beveree, Wickers. A few years back I was at a pre-season against QPR. "Come on you Beavers" was definitely preferable to "come on you Rs"  ;)

The God's honest truth was that the Beavers were in front, but the Rs came from behind.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but Devonshire has indeed joined Maidenhead United and has already recruited Alan Massey his captain and centre half from Braintree. Alan will be earning more than he did at Braintree so obviously Devonshire has a big budget to play with.think I might be sticking a few quid on them getting promoted to the conference and a few more quid on Braintree going the opposite way next season

Sorry to disappoint you, but the Beavers are Hampton not Braintree. I pop down the road a few times a season to watch Beavers.

I do! I do.

Just realised that I've heard of people putting hamptons in beavers but not the other way round before.
