Tough game at a ground we usually struggle at - especially Tuesday nights.

1-1 Arnold would be my guess.

1 - 0 Town. Neilson off the bench to score in the last 10 minutes and a very ego-ish celebration

(Mildly) interesting fact - we're currently on a run of 9 night games without winning.

But that run to end with a 1-0 win: Disley 42

Pre season friendlies (even ones played in October) aren't proper games!

Braintree have won enough points off us at their place,

It has got to stop,

They might have Marks + Sparks,

BUT

Town gaining in confidence all the time v a Braintree side who are good at home and consistently surprise me with how well they do in this division. If I am honest I will be chuffed with a point after a tough game to keep the unbeaten run going. Don't want all this talk of " we could go second" distracting the players.  A draw would be a good result,
1-1 with Pittman coming off the bench to score a late equaliser.

Braintree ruined my 16th birthday by beating us 5-0 on that awful night , but with confidence high we have to go there looking for a win but im going 1-1 with Paddy scoring

We need to avenge that 5-0 embarrassment from three seasons ago!
I hope we can win this one to keep the pressure up on Barnet!
I think we will draw and I think the atmosphere in their compact ground will be corking!
Come on Mighty Mariners!!!

With silverware up for grabs they're still games to be taken seriously.
Least you didn't see Lincoln put out a weak team...

As for Braintree anything can happen so I certainly don't "expect" anything but just wonder if it MIGHT be another Gateshead.

I'm sure the players who played on the night took it seriously, because they're professionals.

But it certainly doesn't count towards 'proper' records (Hearn scored 29 goals in 11/12 - his Lincolnshire Cup final goal is not in that tally)

Also, that stat would be rubbished if we included those fantastic evening victories over Scarborough and Harrogate!

Well stats are one thing, performances are another.

True. Good thing my post was about stats!

tbh was thinking more of your post in another thread where you said Hannah's wonder goal didn't count cos it was the Lincs cup.

5-0 Town. Nothing else will do for me.

It counts in the context of the match. (Same as the Hearn reference above).

If I remember rightly (and forgive me if I'm thinking of something else), I was moaning about his performance against Guiseley. A performance which saw him dropped for yesterday.

Anyway, I've veered off topic somewhat!

Fully expecting Hannah to be straight back into the starting XI after his effort just after he came on yesterday. :o

If you follow the trend from our first disaster at Braintree

You should be able to predict the score on Tuesday,

It goes, 5-0,  2-0 ,  0-0  , so the next result should be  0-2  8)

Well let's hope so.

I'd like us to avenge the 5-0 defeat in memory of Matty Dawson.

That was the evening that Matty died and would have been his last memory of his beloved Mariners. I remember the evening very well as I had just come through my (what hopefully will be) last operation and I remember waking up in the morning with my head bandaged up and hearing the score. I had heard it the evening before but thought I must still have been under the influence of the anesthetic.

I was sat there obviously not feeling my best with my head bandaged up and feeling sorry for myself when I got the news that Matty had died earlier. That really brought it home to me how lucky I was and I'm not ashamed to admit that it brought a few tears.

So, exorcise the Braintree ghost in memory of Matty please lads.

Yes that was the intention - you seem very mature for your age.

My wild guess for Braintree...

0-2 with just over 300 Town fans to watch it.

The Shop and Pearson scoring our goals, one in each half, Pearson from a corner after about 30 minutes, The Shop on the hour mark.

I think there'll be one goal in it - 0-1 Town would do nicely. If there's in excess of 250 Mariners that would be a great turnout.

Just got a feeling that our boys are going to be really up for this tonight but their keeper will have a wonder game.

0 - 1 to us.
