Mine was at Anfield in 1979-1980 season. We lost 5-0. Half of Grimsby was there that day. Don't remember much about it myself though.

It would be against Hull but I'm buggered if I can remember when.   There were always so many of us on the ferry it almost felt like a home game.

Not counting both Wembley games in 98, my Dad never went to away games (and still doesn't really) so never went to any as a young kid until i could go with some mates from school.

Think this was my first one:

EDIT: just also remembered the Sheffield Wednesday cup game when we lost 7-1 which my Dad took me too.

I remember walking away from Sincil Bank with my old mate Dave Solway (RIP) and a lincoln fan ran past us and nicked my scarf from my neck. Fantastic atmosphere at the ground. How many Div 4 games can attract 15,015 these days eh.

My 1st away match Bournemouth was in May 2009. That if you discount a trip to Wembley.

Funny you say that, Donny away in Oct 79' was one of my first games watching City. Sir Gordon of Hobson scored the winner in a 1-0 morning kick off victory, in front of 9,693 (of which 3k+ were Imps).

1st ever away game (if you're interested?) was Mansfield away Apr 75' we lost 1-3 in front of 14,392 at Field Mill.

Was living down south at the time, so the firs "away" game was the Wimbledon cup game - actually got to meet Bobby Gould in the ticket office when we went to get our tickets.

When I moved back to Town, I think was Bolton away when we went 1-0 up, 3-1 down and then scored twice in the last 10 minutes to draw 3-3.

If someone can tell me which game came first out of these then that was the one late 70s at a guess?

League Cup Replay match drew with WOLVES then went to Derby for the 2nd replay

2-1 away win at Northampton on a Tuesday evening to win promotion,  I remember standing behind a rope by the sidelines as the old ground only had a stand at one side and 1 end I think.

1-0 away at Everton, league cup

Scunny (I lived there as a kid and teen) I think we drew 2-2, Wainman was in goal.

Lost 1-0 away at Coventry evening cup match

  Halifax away won 1-0

Old age catching up and I just can't remember the defining moment

It was 78. We gave a group of kids £1.00 to look after the car. When we got back to it they stolen the cassette player but locked the car up again! My mate decided to report it to the Police and on the way to a Police Station we hit a Reliant Robin at an unmarked junction which disintegrated before our eyes leaving the driver holding the steering wheel like something out of a Roadrunner cartoon. Got home at 5 a.m.

17.9.66 Brighton v GTFC. Town won 2-0 (Tees scored both but I admit I had to look that bit up!) We lived down there then so doesn't really count.

First away match back in Grimsby was Lincoln 2 Town 1 in the League Cup in 1970. It was a night match. We went in BenBowers grandads Bedford van!! Town scored first and missed a twice taken penalty. The only other thing I remember is Town fans invading the pitch led by a bugler!!

My mate got hit by a Reliant Robin while walking across a junction down Park St.

It was braking as it approached the end of the street and my mate had time to jump in the air and he landed on the bonnet. The thing just collapsed and my mate rolled off unhurt.

Funny as fook.

I had moved to Stoke by then, it was funny cos one of the Stokies with a corner flag was a work colleague; I really took the P out of him on the Monday for failing to look hard. I also had to catch a bus home after the game which was a bit worrying but no problem in the end.

Wimbledon 3 Town 6 in 1980. Got me hooked on away games after that, not suprisingly. I had the flu before the game but it mysteriously vanished as the goals flew in. We sang at their goalkeeper, "Raymond Goddard is our friend, he let's goals in," all through the second half.
