Possibly one of the funniest job appointments of all time.

With MacAnthony, Barry fry and now Savage, they are going to be an even bigger laughing stock than before with each one of them wanting more fame than the other.

The only way it could have got worse was by appointing count binface as his assistant.

Are they a laughing stock? They're the model that most lower league clubs are trying to achieve, and they've been doing it successfully for a long time.

Good luck to him but it’s hard to imagine many managers with only a few years’ experience, gained in the Northern Premier League and then having a team finish 7th then sitting 13th in the conference, being considered for this level of job. Fair play to Savage for starting at the bottom and taking his chance though.

A symptom of the English football administrators’ view of coaching as only something ex players need apply for, rather than a skill in its own right, and why our coaching talent pipeline lags miles behind the rest of Europe and hasn’t caught up in the way St George’s Park helped our playing talent pipeline to do.

It’s an odd move on the surface, taking a manager from 13th in the National League Forest Green. But then you remember that Leeds once appointed Dave Hockaday.

Wonder if he'll beat Hockaday's 6 games

One of my favourite old school documentary football programmes was 'Big Ron manager ' . Maybe they are trying to get back to that , Barry Fry will be a manager again before the seasons out.

Thry dramatically overachieved for a few years didn't they, with a transfer policy that was ahead of the game .

Problem is now clubs are doing the same and other variants better and they are somewhere back towards what was their regular position before said good times .

Seems like its also a case of that chairman  sticking around too long and potentially undoing a good era for them if they tank down to division 4 or lower .

As a business model I would agree, but I guess you have to live in Peterborough to appreciate the people behind the club, what they are like and how they represent the club. Apart from some (and certainly not all) Peterborough fans, there are very few people who have a good word to say about those at the top of the club and they make the club a laughing stock to the local community. Why would anyone pick savage when he has made FGR a worse team than they were when he joined despite having probably having the second biggest budget in his league. He buys or loans more players than any other club, he falls out with people, he blames everyone but himself and gets rid of their best players. FGR fans are delighted he has gone. This is well known.

Why would you pick savage? Apparently he blew them away at interview? Just shows a bullsh1tter can con bullsh1tters or they know it will get them in the press and makes great headlines in the short term. Good business model or not, they are a laughing stock locally.
