Surprised to see this not get a mention yesterday, but the reverses lost 2-0 at home to Rotherham yesterday afternoon.

Relatively strong team with Shelton getting 45, Fin Cartwright getting 70, with other appearances from Walker, Foulkes, Pruti & Henry Brown.

Full write up on the club website. Only worry for me is still no sign of Cam Gardner. Artell says he’s been “on the grass” for ages, can only assume he must be sat skinning up at Cheapside as he’s not playing any football.

Starting to think we'll never see Gardner fit for a prolonged period of time.

The other week I seem to think Artell mentioned he was on the grass and was going to start 'ball work' soon. It's a bit concerning if you've got a player who is able to run up and down but not actually kick the ball. If that's the case, he would still be months away, even if his injury doesn't recur. Not a good sign.

He will almost certainly still be growing and he's a unit so his progress will take some managing. He has the talent and not only do I hope but I fully expect him to come back and deliver.

All well and good but we are just basing that on 1 game...

I hope Cam comes good but i think some are getting very carried away with what he could be. At this rate he's gonna be another Max Wright which is sad for the lad, but we gave him a 3 year contract and he's been out is it near enough a year now? doesnt bode well for a lad his age

In the last two season we've played 109 competitive fixtures plus the 6 we've played so far this season is 115. He's only managed 25 appearances in that time which is comfortably less than 1 in 4 matches. Really sad and I hope he gets fit and fulfills his potential but it doesn't look great.

From a club with a history of more long term in injuries that you've had fish suppers, once ball work starts you're about 2 weeks or less for being available for selection.  It's the final stage of recovery.

Yeah hamstring the season before last wasn't it, then hamstring again on Scotland u21 duty from overtarining and then thigh injury picked up in shooting practice with us I think, not been seen since. Does seem like he may well be another max wright, such continuous bad injuries for such a young player is unusual and worrying. Just hope he overcomes it and pushes on as he looks a real player at times, fingers crossed.

Fingers-crossed, but I'm cynical enough not to be holding my breath.
