My University Department had an Exchange programme with Virginia Tech so I could have spent a few weeks there but passed on the opportunity. American College sports are way better than the NFL or NBA for atmosphere and fanaticism.

American college sports are like huge events, it's quite something. We never bothered to monitise college sports in this country so lack the programs and scholarships that America offers kids as a pathway into education and sports programs.

Weirdly enough they play sports that a lot of American schools don't even have programs for in college. Hockey, what they call "field hockey" because they call ice hockey just hockey (which makes no sense) has mostly European students on scholarships playing. The UK and Netherlands are huge recruitment pools for scholarships in America. Ice Hockey is also full of Canadians as you'd expect.

That’s the sort of razz a matz (spelling?) the yanks love, problem is in “ soccer” both teams walk out together so it would be slightly diluted, also, saw they came out with the Stars and Stripes, if our teams walked out behind the union flag it might upset some people!!

Once went to the Orange Bowl In Florida . Two college football teams both from over a thousand miles away and there were 85000 people there . 90 degrees and no roof . Four hours of torture
