Not quite as much under the radar this year as last season then. Although this piece does smack a little of lazy journalism; the contenders being those who came close last year and the favourites for the drop this who were close last year and those who came up. Kacurri one to watch as he “got used to the physical side of League 2”, more like the other way around!

Not the top 20 podcast who are pretty knowledgeable about all the efl have us 3rd .So called experts seem to fancy us in general . Personally think we are short and would say between 6th and 10th as things stand but we will have to wait and see .


The unlikely scenario of a relegation dogfight seems in the distance thankfully .

Seen 3 League 2 prediction videos so far this summer and they have us at 3rd, 4th and 5th.

We have the nucleus of a very good squad but I think we need to make the most of these remaining 4 signings before the window shuts. A sprinkling of quality in another goalkeeper, central midfield, right wing and another striker (that is a contrast to the 2 target strikers at present).

Maybe some PL2 loans as they will be match ready rather than a free agent who could take a few weeks to challenge the 11.

I suppose as an outsider looking at our team

McJannett/Rodgers/Turi/Green/Cook and Vernam would be first names on the teamsheet for most others in this league .
The first 11 is very very good ,it's just keeper and squad depth i think .

I do wonder whether we underachieved slightly last season when you look at the bench most weeks it wad ridiculously strong by our/league 2 standard .

NTT20 Seemed to, quite fairly on the evidence we've seen, back a bit of that with our ability to recruit. Given we finished the season as one of the best teams Jan - May (lost track of the actual number) then considering we have a first 11 of players that were big parts in that run, it seems fair. The issue now is can we add that depth that we also had post January, because beyond that 13/14 - there isn't much if injuries, fatigue and form drop, especially in midfield and wide. That makes the next couple of weeks massive in terms of outcome for the season.

Much more interested in people like NTT20 and Gab Sutton etc who actually watch most football at this level - so there predications are based with a little bit of knowledge. Some of the papers and the like i'm sure are just looking at last season and guessing.

Yes some comment on thin squads in the Gab Sutton analyses.

Our season points spread price on Sporting Index has jumped 2.5 points to 74 (3rd behind Salford 79 and B Rovers 76) after opening at 71.5, that's a relatively big shift, so there's some big money gone on us.

I’ve read several of the betting sites and media reviews and watched a good few of the you tubers predictions.
Most are predicting a finish in the top 5.
Personally I feel this is a little optimistic given our short comings so far in the transfer market and the GK situation.
In my opinion the squad is weaker than the one that finished last season although we have a reasonably settled first eleven. There’s still a long time to go before the window shuts to rectify this and DA has a record of improving teams year on year , last year we had a good transfer window in January and proved to be one of the best teams on form in the second half of the season after a shaky couple of months.
As it stands if I was a betting man I’d back us to finish 6th or 7th.
What are everyone else’s predictions?
I don’t know how to start a poll on here but it would be interesting for someone to do that before the first game and maybe another one after the January window .

We're definitely weaker in both squad and starting 11. Whoever ends up in goal isn't as good as Jackson Smith. The defence is the exact same lineup as last season. Midfield we've lost McEachran and Khouri who started the majority of games. Walker and Turi take their place, the former wasn't fancied last season and Turi looks classy on the ball, but I think he can be a bit lightweight. Attacking wise we've lost Burns and Amaluzor will seemingly start. He looks significantly improved from this time last year, but has never been preferred to Burns, so it's hard to see that as anything other than weaker. We've lost our top scorer and look to have little option if Cook is injured or needs a rest, he's nearly 36 and can't really play 50 games a season.

Morgan looked promising, but too early to tell where he'll play and what he'll bring. Doyle might bring the bite we seem to be missing in midfield.

We're not a million miles away from last season, but the positions that we have cover for seem to all have injuries and we don't have much more than a starting 11 that looks decent.

I can't see us troubling the top 3 unless we pull get some more signings that are first team ready. And we can't expect them all to be winners, as good as Jamestown is at identifying talent, it gets it wrong plenty too.
