Gutted. I’m not old enough to remember him as a player but one of football’s great characters as a manager, not to mention a real focal point in one of the greatest nights to have graced BP in my lifetime.

Very sad. Was hoping he might fight on for a bit longer. Spoke to him for a bit about Grimsby at a book signing once. He was the same personality as on TV. Genuine bloke.

Remember him playing for Scunny against us late 60’s early 70’s alongside Nigel Cassidy and Terry Heath and he was all action but can’t say as a 15 year old I witnessed the player he would become. I remember leaving BP after first game of the season to learn he had scored for Liverpool on his debut and he went on to have a great playing career returning to BP alongside Waddle and Beardsley for Newcastle in the early eighties when we were both Championship clubs.

Years later going to a Town v Millwall night game I came out of Willy’s bar and bumped into KK and Terry McDermott who were coming on a scouting mission as Newcastle were playing town a week later when they won promotion to the Premiership. He was happy to chat and was a lovely bloke, his teams played great football and the world is a poorer place for his passing. RIP KK.

Very sad day; never saw him play in a Scunny v Town - just before my time and shame he never got to play in a decent England side. His career peaks were in the European Cup for Liverpool and SV Hamburg. RIP
