If you can avoid firing people, avoid firing them, is a generally accepted good rule of thumb for incoming PMs. I’d think as a Northern-centric minister with a similar outlook to him, the PM would want to keep him on.

Hes not 'selling up' but that's  his involvement /investment either paused or ended  . I'm suprised actually , but it might actually mean there is potentially some new investors on the horizon ?

He has probably done the maths and concluded that a club of Grimsby size and catchment area cannot expect to sustain anything other than a mid table L2 club however hard we try.  Personally I think that’s true . Occasionally pop into L1 but not sustainable in the long term.

Ministers are expected to resign directorships on taking up position within government. This looks to be the formalisation of that.

Don’t think it changes anything particularly.

Hardly a shock. Most clubs have a range of 2-3 divisions. Ours is L1 L2 and NL.
