Grimsby Town can confirm that Evan Khouri will depart the club following the expiration of his contract this summer.

As outlined in the club’s retained and released list, Evan was offered a new deal to remain at Blundell Park. However, after careful consideration, he has chosen to pursue a new opportunity away from the club.

A graduate of the Grimsby Town academy, Evan’s journey from the youth ranks to the first team has been a source of pride for everyone associated with the Football Club. Having progressed through our pathway system, he established himself as a key member of the senior squad and made over 100 appearances in black and white.

His commitment, professionalism and connection to the club have made him a popular figure both on and off the pitch throughout his time at Blundell Park.

Everyone at Grimsby Town would like to thank Evan for his outstanding contribution to the Football Club and wish him and his family every success for the future.

Very disappointed to be honest and would have liked him to stay. I think we are way better with him in the team and he will be hard to replace. None of the others have his energy and he is still young. Good luck to him utm

We parted on good terms which is nice

He has a great engine and no doubt of his commitment to the cause or work ethic and a genuinely nice lad . But I get the sense that Artells desire for 'double figure goals /goal contributions didn't materialise as he would have liked and without being anything  other than competent in possession with how he wants to play I think it was the right time to move on . That he wanted to move south probably made it mutually positive to both parties and we get a small fee as a bonus so all in all it's ended well .

I imagine judging on the data he wouldn't necessarily have met the individual goals set out for him.

I do feel we need better than Khouri or Odour if we are striving for top 3 which has to be the aim now .

Like the rest leaving this summer I hope they do well but back us to replace with better and more suitable players to how we want to play , Khouri will probably do great in a more low possession based team were his energy/athleticism can be used to greater effect .

Sad to see both him and George choose to leave.
I think Evan has some terrific strengths. No L2 midfielders have everything, but I think his energy, his fitness, his positional adaptability, his ability to turn the ball over and get all over the pitch are precious assets. He’ll be a good addition to another L2 club down south. It won’t be a club with as good coach and fans but there you go. People have a wide range of reasons for making career decisions. I thank him for his contributions over several years, and I wish him all the best. Evan and GTFC have been good for each other.

Wish him well, he always gave his best for us and his incredible stamina for a young player served us well, hell of an engine on him. He's the type of player that often goes unnoticed in what he does, but you notice when he's not there. I always thought he was like a ghost who would pop up in all these positions in defence and attack losing his marker just at the right time to link a pass or help out then go about his business.

Good luck in the future Ev.

I’m disappointed as he has lots of assets and would have developed even further under DA.  Ev has worked hard, really cares and deserves the opportunity to develop his career even further.

Couple of other bits, has he or anyone ever said he wanted to move South? Living away from home for 7 years would suggest he’s pretty well adjusted.

Also we will have a target in mind to replace him and the job he’s done for sure so I’m happy to trust the process.

No but it’s the default mindset for a lot of town fans that immediately assume that nobody can cope with living in the area for more than a few months, and need to be back home with their mum in Rainham or want to be paying £3k a month for a 1-bed flat in Lewisham.

All circumstantial isn't it . Wouldn't live in the area myself but objectively it's not bad at all in terms of if you want a quiet existence or family life . Not sure why it gets a bad rep maybe because those skint programmes and the like just show the worst of the place and it's a relatively low economic area . Theres plenty of zones like that everywhere though .
