Transfer window.  This is my first summe

following a team other than the bottom, so can I just check that I've got a vague understanding:

1.  There's normally a much higher turnover than in the PL cos players have much shorter contracts.  But we are lucky because this summer, most of our players are staying.

2.  McEachran's gone.  And we don't know whether Smith and Cook are staying yet.  If both do, we're sorted.

3.  There won't be a lot of movement until the end of the window, so it's not gonna be like following AFC where every day we get linked with 5 different Carlos Kickaballs from various Latin American teams.  So it'll be well after the WC when we start to see all the business happening.

4.  We don't really need to add that much given how well we played before the poor spell, and how well we played after we added that new spine of Smith, Cook and the ex-Gooner.

5.  McJannet and Maldini are gonna be like your Bould and Adams, your Saliba and Gabriel.  If Cook stays, we have him, Justin, Jaze and Chas going for 3 positions.  Another option there would be the cherry on top.

6.  As far as we know, there aren't any kids in the yoof team we're hoping to break into the squad next season.

3 i imagines few signings are done and will be announced from mid June onwards, I’d expect most of our business to be done before the season starts

There’s room in the squad for about 10 by my count. A couple made available for transfer, loans gone back, contracts expired etc.

Contracts expire at the end of this month, which opens up the market. Not that deals can't or won't be done before then.

Ganpati - As it is your first summer on-the Fishy I feel I must inform you of the only requisite to remain a member -  At the first home match you must run round B.P. with a sausage inserted somewhere so that only 1/2 of it is in view. As in previous initiations a 5 min. rest will be allowed when you reach the Pontoon.. The sausage must be returned to the Lower hot dog stand before it gets cold.

Quite right Golfer. And if a lubricant is needed, only hot English mustard is allowed.

it's an important distinction that most people probably never think to ask for. 'Can I have a hot hot dog? 'Then there is the addition of chilli too. 'Can I have a hot chilli hot dog'. But also...if you want the chilli to be hot in spice levels...you could ask for a hot hot chilli hot dog!

I see we have slowly but surely reeled you in. As you’ve probably gathered we are a queer old bunch. There are some right mardy twits but ignore them. Give us a shout when you want to make the trip to a game, I’ll buy you some fish and chips from Pips, the more the merrier.
As for the summer transfers, it’s a silly old ride half of those we sign are Messi in disguise, the others are Serge Mafoko’s. That’s before they’ve kicked a ball. I try to wait til I’ve seen them a few times before I decide who is who.
