Kevin Keegan has issued statement that he has stage 4 cancer. So sorry to hear this sad news.

Doesn't deserve it - loved his passion as manager

Why do the good ones suffer and  some of the wrong ones get away with it

Maybe you can ask that God you believe in?

Only thing I can think of is at least those who leave a positive legacy behind give hope to the younger generation, a bit of light in a world that can be so dark - as I read not so long ago, all pain and evil is temporary before we go back to eternal divine peace

Well said Rick, for what it's worth I've always enjoyed your positive posts over the time I've read them. I have my ups and downs and suffer badly at times. It's nice to know that there are still people like you about, trying to see reason and having empathy instead of being vindictive. The world would be a completely better place if more people had your outlook on life.

But I know that this post was originally about KK, so let's all wish him a successful recovery from Cancer. Despite being a massive Town fan, I loved watching that Newcastle team, so entertaining to watch. Sadly, I don't think that we'll see football like that again and we are lesser for it, so let's all wish him well.

I hope Keegan does beat the cancer pal, but at stage four I don't think the odds look great- shame they didn't catch it earlier when he would have had a much higher chance of recovery

I suppose with me I have been very bitter about the past, especially after seeing a friend die of a childhood genetic illness at only 21 and never having a real life, and then I look at others who squander their health, e.g., smoking and drinking too much -health is so precious. Just the other week I saw someone who really threw me- a practical dwarf with a severe facial disfigurement who had moderate learning needs-felt really guilty about being negative about stuff on occasion when I saw that poor fella

Just recently, I've been reading a book about Shaolin monks and the peace they try to identify with and emit as opposed to anger, which is corrosive to our bodies, trying to emulate that more and leave the past behind

Yes, it doesn't sound great for KK but we can only hope for the fella.

I know what you mean, I've been bitter about some things from the past and present (to a lesser extent) but I have found it easier with age to let it go but it does rear it's head every now and again. I used to drink quite a bit (socially I'd add) but kind of weaned myself off excessive drinking now and I don't miss it. I'd rather take part in my hobbies at the weekend now. Although, I still enjoy a few pints when the situation arises!

What book is that Rick out of interest?
