Innocent until proven guilty.  But looks like he’s getting done for assault.  Hopefully a nice prison sentence to follow.

I saw one of those podcasts where ex-players talk about their time in the game, on this one they were discussing Joey Barton.  Ex-team mate says he's one of them people where the switch just flips in their head and they are gone.  Had to literally drag him off a team mate in a training session as he wasn't going to stop hitting him, genuinely thought he'd kill the guy.

The switch doesn't just flip, the person actively chooses that course of action. There's a really good book by a prison doctor on the way criminals verbally distance themselves from their own behaviour called 'The knife went in'
