I’m obviously no football expert except I’ve watched Grimsby for 45 years and Spurs for 46 years and spent many years involved in junior football BUT
I don’t see a regular playing style from us at all . We’ve even changed formations recently and we certainly don’t press the ball like we did early in the season .
So what is our playing style that’s set in stone through the club Genuine question for anyone with the knowledge

I’m no expert either but just think opponents have sussed us out and stopped us doing what we did early season. We then struggle …..

If you can't see how we are set up to play then you are right, you are no expert. It's very obvious how we set up and how we approach making the "repeatable chances", even Thursday, we played poorly first half but still got in behind and around them 3 or 4 times....second half we played better and created better chances, enough on the night to have scored 3 maybe 4. That's without what have proven to be two key parts playing in Mcreachran and Green. Disregarding the defending, going forward its small tweaks really, pull backs and crosses either don't find their target or the targets just aren't in place, refine the crosses or have more people in there to increase chances of hitting them.
Defenders don't like running towards their own goal, we too often check back before crossing which gives them the opportunity to turn and face the ball as well.

But we didn't struggle in the second half on Thursday. We scored once and ought to have had one or two more. Doesn't indicate they have sussed us out well enough to stop us, just that we were profligate once again. This isn't to say that we don't struggle against some teams, especially when we put in a poor display, just that there haven't been many occasions where we simply couldn't do anything - against a team from our division, at least. If you think about it, we do actually have a Plan B - 3-5-2 is quite different to playing 4 at the back and one up top. The problem is that we don't currently have a different sort of player to bring on and try and change things - no physical presence up front or pace to come off the bench. Either could make a real difference in a game where we are struggling. I think we have to accept that Artell is always going to consider a player's ability with the ball at their feet rather than their physical attributes. Tharme and Lavelle probably the only exceptions to this rule.

I think we do have the players on the bench but Artell doesn’t trust them yet. Gilsenen and JSB are just that. However we don’t see them every day and DA does so I’ll trust him. The bit that frustrates me is when you are looking for consistency, you deliberately create an inconsistent line up through multiple changes. Green rested? Rest him for the cup game if you need to, not a league fixture that we needed to win. I can’t see any logic in some of those calls.

Artell has said quite a few times they take into account the data on each player regarding their physical status and rest them before they break down, if indeed he was rested. The days of "it's only a flesh wound" seemingly gone!

Yeah, Artell did say he’s got a niggle - he wasn’t simply rested.
Agree we don’t have that physical presence to bring on, but I do think we have the pace. Amaluzor, Kabia were both on the bench. Not sure if Gilsenan or Jude are pacey or not.

That’s one thing that annoys me about Artell, the glacial pace he introduces players to the team. No good saying JSB needs to get used to men’s football then giving him 15 mins here and there out on the wing. The kid’s 6ft 1, bang him up to alongside Kabia, he’s big enough to challenge even if he doesn’t win everything, not much different to Rose. He’s clearly a finisher, might help not being glued to the touch line and asked to beat two people before being allowed to shoot.
