There really shouldn’t be international games , whether they’re friendlies or qualifiers in the summer after a long season. Regardless of how much money they’ve on they should be allowed to have a couple of months off to recover considering they’ll be playing a tournament next summer.

Not dismissing the poor, unattractive performance that was served last night but I agree with this. In the new era of football as a business, with world wide friendly tournaments more about revenue than the actual football, newly introduced tournaments in between major international tournaments, it seems it's not only the fans who are becoming more demanding in seeing the best players in the world on stage all year round. I don't subscribe to the idea that they get paid a shed load so they should be out there performing on demand. They get paid a shed load because football is an industry flooded with money on the back of their efforts, so why shouldn't they take their fair share of it? They also have to hold themselves to a ridiculously high level of fitness and personal standards (not that all manage it!) that - i appreciate this sounds a bit strong - limits their freedom and privacy. Everything they do is in the public eye and having a pint at the darts is worthy of a headline, scrutiny and public debate. Whether the trappings of the job is a fair exchange for the money they earn is one thing, but I think we're forgetting that they're still only human and we're pushing them limits unprecedented in history. The major nations are naturally worst affected with more of their players involved in the higher levels of club football.

Feel like I’ve watched two games of walking football. Purposeless possession obsession and no energy or movement or real threat. Just boring.

Can't help but feel that for a game vs Andorra and then a friendly vs Senegal at the end of a long season a team of hungry players from the prem/championship with a point to prove would have been a better pick than established stars who are knackered and don't want to get injured before their holiday/club world cup games (thank god we scrapped FA cup replays to save the poor players legs....)

That or a winter break like many countries in Europe if they aren't willing to reconsider tournament football in the summer, which frequently happens. Playing in winter, when tired risks muscle injuries and it's not the nicest time for fans to sit in a ground. Plus, Grimsby struggle in that period, so maybe it trickles down and we solve one of our big problems .

I find it quite amazing that Kane basically plays every game, whether competitive or friendly,he’s going to America for the club World Cup with Bayern so additional games there. Plus, if either Southgate or now Tuchell don’t know his game by now then I’d suggest they are not very good at assessing players. If Kane gets injured how do we know what anyone else can do if they’ve never had a go, but saying that Watkins was a much better option then Kane at the last Euros, but once again Southgate kept picking him first. Ten changes for last night’s game but Kane keeps his place.

Kane? You mean England's record-breaking striker, who has just scored in the past 4 consecutive games and is scoring at a rate in club football that nobody else in Europe is anywhere near matching? That Kane?
He's scored not far off a hundred goals in the past 2 seasons.
See what he does for Bayern with two quick and skilful wingers alongside him. Get England playing like that and he'll score even more.
