Lower than the previous two seasons, but still our fifth highest of the all seater era (and significantly higher than 97/98, which seems nuts in retrospect). The Wimbledon game was our highest league attendance since Northampton in 2006.
Away support will be considerably lower next season with the likes of Donny and Bradford already up and the five teams new to League Two so far being southern (Shrewsbury possibly a stretch for the “southern” tag but it’s a long way away regardless). That said, the lack of decent walk-up tickets should be solved for the most part - none of the 17 teams confirmed for the division so far will require the larger section of the Osmond for a typical game.
If ever there was a season to speculate…

It would be higher than that if we followed the current norm to publish the attendance as tickets sold.
We need to big us up as much as possible.

Yep would probably put us 7th or 8th if we went with that but personally don't mind us announcing the actual attendances ; the key thing is our matchday income is on par or better than a lot of clubs when looking at the various accounts; it's seemingly the commercial were we have fallen a bit short . I'm just hoping they hold up well when the first 5 home games come out and it's Harrogate,Bromley,Barnet,Salford and Crawley . Like Poojah said there will be 20 games at least we can use the bigger Osmond section hopefully they are looking at ways to optimize that and not just leave it empty.

I still reckon we should use tickets sold like most others. For people or businesses looking to invest or sponsor it'll make it a more attractive proposition

Years ago I could walk into the ticket office on the Friday or the day of a game and get a couple of seats together in the pontoon and the attendance would still be 6k+.
Now, when we get a 6k+ crowd, you go to buy a ticket online much earlier in the week and the seat selection page makes it look like we’ve nearly sold out. It’s really hard to find two seats together and then on match day they announce an attendance of 6,500 and you’re left wondering where those 2,500 spare seats are.
The issue here is that we’ve got record high numbers of season ticket holders. And, more than ever, a lot of them don’t turn up or release their seat early enough in the week.
I’m now in a position where I might need to buy a couple of season tickets to guarantee my place in the ponny, despite knowing right now that I’ll only be able to make half the home games next season.
We’re in an era where others are doing the same. It’s not their fault and it’s perfectly reasonable for those who pay up front to reserve their seat and take it, if they want it.
What needs to happen is a better incentive to release seats. Big groups of mates cannot sit/stand together any more as the increased number of season tickets forces them apart. I’ve not been able to attend a game as a group of four sat together for years now. We have to sit apart for the games we can make - and I’m sure that’s affecting the atmosphere. It’s harder to get the chants going when social groups are split.
So, even though the capacity of BP appears not to be pushed regularly enough for 1878 to consider a new stadium, more seats would allow fans to attend in groups and be together while also we could’ve sold way more tickets than the 8k we did for Wimbledon on the last day (for those games where interest spikes).
I’m in favour of staying at BP and wonder what the cost would be to fill those corners and take capacity back towards the 10-11k mark.

Somebody working at the ground for the Wimbledon game said the club had studied dragging the main stand full length of the pitch redeveloping some of it and the pontoon but the cost was circa 5 to 6 million so deemed not viable and they chose to go all in with the training ground instead (for now) not sure if that's accurate but the person who said it seems pretty reliable normally . Polly said at the forum aswell about it being possible to make the Osmond caged corner viable to have safe standing /seating in there but assume it's costly to convert it as it would have to be essentially ripped out I think and made good , you would also have the issue then of the away allocation currently being finite as i don't see how you could fill in that corner where the fanzone is as there is realistically nowhere it could be relocated to I don't think . So there are possibilities , it's obviously just about the financial viability of it all really isn't it .

Major issue with that is I sure as hell wouldn't want to be sat in an uncovered corner of BP in January.

What the hell have we got to lose? It helps in marketing as you say, and gives us our correct position in the attendance league. Football people in general don't know we are an outlier so why do it?
