Came across this, 26,000 in BP to watch us v Hull in 1948/49, We lost 3-2. Last time we played them in the FA Cup I think!

A lot hasn't changed ground wise and yet it has, if that makes sense.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

A lot hasn’t changed with the defending either.
My old fella was at that one and talked about how good Raich Carter was for Hull

Better days in 1960
Town won 3-2 and I remember watching a train full of jubilant Town fans packed into the New Holland to Grimsby train as they passed through Goxhill

I've never ever forgotten that match.

It was on 29th January 1949, my 10th birthday, and I watched from
the Constitutional corner terracing. Wrecked my day.

When you see the crowd , 26,000, you wonder how a little kid was
able to see anything at all but one did.

Still have nightmares of our keeper Wilf Chisholm, Tweedy must have
been injured, letting Raich Carter's freekick sail into the net.

I was a thought in me dad's head, so I can vaguely remember bits and bobs through osmosis....

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

Chisholm had been in goal for every game since November 1948, and played in every game until December 1949.  Tweedy's next game was in August 1951 and played in occasional games until September 1952.
