I got mine last week. I have had the same seat in the Upper Youngs for 25 years.

It’s not a competition you know. And if it was GranthamMariner & I have had the same seats since 1998 so that’s 27 years and counting!

Renewed last week. Home games even more crucial now that we are losing several doable away fixtures.

Possibly losing Chesterfield, Notts or Walsall as well as Bradford, Donny, Port Vale, Carlisle and Morecambe.

Already lost Mansfield and Stockport last year.

Living at Sheffield made all of the above easier. Our away support will be reduced and our home crowds need to be boosted especially through maximising the Osmond gate.

Is there a deal for ST'S who attend pre season games?

I will be giving away my shirt voucher in the club shop before the first game to a junior Mariner.

Pfft. Amateurs. We've had the same seats since 1994!

Unfortunately, my Dad doesn't plan to renew this year. It's been a pretty crummy run over the past couple of seasons with few good results at BP and he's really feeling the cold now he's getting on a bit. Will feel very odd going to matches without him.

Renewing tomorrow if the office is open.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

My dad (GranthamMariner) will be renewing unless I put him in a home by the end of the month.

I renewed last week, think the shirt voucher runs out at the end of July BTW.

If all the votes so far are close to representative of the fanbase as a whole, we'll have 4200 season ticket holders next season (I split 'unsure' 50-50 into renew and don't renew)

Me and my Dad will be renewing.

I'd say the majority of the last 20 years have felt more a case of duty, habit etc. than anything else.  But genuinely bought into what we're doing at the minute.   Ultimately it's the entertainment business and I've seen enough of what Artell is building to feel hopeful of how we're going to set up.

It's not an excuse because everyone is in the same boat, but I think our pitch definitely hindered the entertainment aspect of our play at home.  We've got some proper footballers in the ranks, the likes of JDS and McEachran.  Hopeful Turi comes into that group with a pre-season under him.   I know it sounds daft but I'm more looking forward to seeing the impact of a decent pitch than any new signings.

For the consistency of this thread, same seats in the Main since 1992.  Season before we were in the Upper.  It might be the fading memory but it felt like every game was a night game that year and all of them in either November or February.  Was just too bloody cold!  Gone back on occasions, usually when it was the FA Trophy games and only stand open and it hasn't warmed up.  Last time was for the Swindon game last season, April time.  Colder than ever! Respect to anyone who sticks it out up there year after year.  Great view but not worth it for having no feeling in your whole body!

It wasn't too far out the last 2 seasons when i did my nerdy polls - i think 300 higher last season and about 200 the season before of the 'fishy projection'  ; see if the accuracy is as close this time lol

We will be renewing our three tickets -for our restricted view seats in the main stand. Fortunately when they removed the poles we were still left with a slightly obscured view... wouldn't want it any other way !!

Wow, That’s incredible support from your dad! I hope he’s been able to relay loads of first hand memories. My father is 87 and told me that after the war he used to get in for free for the last 20 mins when we were in First Division. Unfortunately he struggles to communicate any longer.

Not many I would think after that no show in front of a full house. A great opportunity lost.

I guess a lot will leave it till later in the month including me.

Extrapolating survey accross whole season ticket holder base would suggest a drop in sales of around 500 which is where I would have guessed

I think generally there is always an approximate 75% renewal rate. It’s how many new STHs there are that will count.

I'll renew, but I had a serious think about it.
I am really copulated off about the prices for kids in the Upper. I feel like £144 each for two kids under 10 is taking the urine. It'll be the most expensive in the league I would've thought.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that work out at just over £6 for each child for each home game?  Seems pretty reasonable to me if it is indeed correct!

Just done mine and the old man’s. On a side note, get yourself down to the trust bar at BP, some cracking bargains to be had on last season’s merchandise 👍🏻

They don't go up substantially from May to through  June though about circa 20 quid so the figure might rise through  then aswell ; suppose we won't know how they have held up until the end of June this time really .

Don’t existing holders lose the right to guarantee the same seat as last season after the end of May? That could impact renewals if people don’t realise.

Last year’s thread for reference - https://forum.thefishy.co.uk/?m-1714716621/s-all/

Took 2 weeks to do 1500 last season, about 5 weeks to do the same this time around.

30th May deadline for renewal. 1st June the day serious transfer action starts in and out so you could argue STH are being asked to buy blind to some degree.
Deliberate planning or just a random coincidence ?

Maybe deliberate so we actually have some Wonga to spend on 1 June? Thought discount for buying early was pretty standard practice for most clubs not that I would bother to check!

30th May deadline for renewal. 1st June the day serious transfer action starts in and out so you could argue STH are being asked to buy blind to some degree.
Deliberate planning or just a random coincidence ?

Surely you buy a ST to see the team and not because they have bought a particular player? We have had instances of buying a player because of his " pedigree" and they have turned out to be dunnage.

You buy a season ticket blind every season. That’s the joy/frustration of it.

Those who renewed in person at the shop- did you need to take all ID for all tickets with you to pick them up?

You will need it for anyone with a concession ticket , never had an issue with just adult ticket and ID required though .

Aye. Can't say I've ever bought a ST on the basis of us signing a right back that I've never heard of.

Would love to be able to renew but it won’t let me as its saying my seat has become taken by someone else. That someone else is me because I cancelled it because I wanted to use a different card!

Also: Why are we still paying £1 admin fees for selecting our own seat and entering our own card details into a form? Absorb it into the cost, ffs.

Actually, just checked. They’ve been on sale just over a month now.  In one month we sold 4,500 last year…

Still think plenty more will sell next week.

I think quite a few will wait until  end of June tbh and lose the £20 discount for an extra month to pay . I don't think we can establish the drop off until then this time

I hope not because I think all seats not renewed by the end of May are released. This nearly caught me out as well - it’s the earliest I can ever remember it.

Deadline for renewal without losing seat was 28th June last year. I know my comment above suggesting having a deadline day of 31st May this year well before transfer activity commences and on a wider point before the new season is in people’s minds was a mistake was laughed at by a few. i still think for those who are only 50 -75% percent committed just letting the early deadline pass and then finding there seat has gone is an easy option will mean we have lower sales then we would otherwise have had.
Anyway we will know in a week and I wouldn’t be suprised if there is a u turn

Times have a changed as Micky put it , the goal is to squeeze as much out of every seat and commercial as they can imo hence earlier and different windows for puchase + trust discount gone and no communication on matchday prices or the 1878 club membership ; not saying it's right or wrong as they have a million + shortfall to cover but for some people it's at best an inconvenience - i just hope the 5300 current incuments are aware their seats will be released come June start .

I'm renewing on Friday now I've been paid but like many others I'd rather have had the June option  Regardless of the rights or wrongs I'm paying around 12% more than this time last year for the same level of football. The fayre on offer at BP the past 3 seasons has been very underwhelming for the most part but we the fans hope for better.A 9th placed finish was good and better than most expected and personally I think based on nothing but continuous improvement in form we will finish higher than that this time around. I want to see a more attacking approach at home and I honestly feel a commanding keeper stops a lot of the stupid goals we've conceded. UTM

As a club Grimsby Town should look at a fairer system of season ticket pricing.

Those on higher incomes should pay more, which would subsidise those of us on benefits, the lower paid or public sector and NHS empleyees, who should all be given heavily discounted or free tickets.

This would be simple to implement by showing proof of earnings or benefit entitlement.

Forget B Corp status, we could be real ground breakers here, and a become the first socialist club.

Pathetic attempt at being a wind up

Why should someone who doesnt work and relies on benefits pay less for a season ticket than someone working.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that work out at just over £6 for each child for each home game?  Seems pretty reasonable to me if it is indeed correct!

It's one of the most expensive kids tickets in the league, especially for young kids.
I'll manage it, but lots of people might think twice.

The amount of increase is a real kick in the teeth.

They are all top 4 in terms of lowest price tickets available per age group in league 2  , i do my little nerdy thing of doing a price comparison each year . It was the same last season , we started at a higher price point than most . I don't have an issue personally as I understand the costs of BP , restriction in capacity , being competitive and their ideal of being run more closely to a 'normal' business than most clubs I do wonder how many we would shift if they were closer to £300 than £400 though ; with the variables mentioned above it's probably deemed not worth the risk .

As we've said many times - Blundell Park is the millstone. If we  sold heavily discounted family season ticket deals like a lot of club those seats are gone for the season at the discount. If we had a great season we could sell out nearly every week but have a lower revenue yield from BP than from a ground like Donny's.

I think GTFC have overdone the increase though, mainly because the Osmond is going to be empty most of the season and the TV deal will impact. Reading between the lines on what AP said in his recent interview my gut says he thinks it's a bad deal for Town.

I'm expecting 4,500 ST sales max this time.

If it turns out the only 2 local away games in Notts & Chesterfield are moved to a Thursday night I won't be happy at all . Do Sky have a say in how fixtures are allocated before they are released in June  ?

I've decided not to, the reasons being:

I'm gambling there will be a drop off in STHs so my chances of getting a decent seat on a game by game basis increases

The club is talking about a revised 1878 membership, which may suit better

Someone sat near me is a drunken oaf who shouts the same bilge at the officials every game and my ST forces me to listen. I need to get away for my own sanity.

All we have seen is players leaving and no one to get excited about. Luker and Obikwu were my favourite players last season and they're gone.

Price rise plus a short early bird feels like an arm up the back so it's not exactly creating a warm fuzzy feeling

Have to disagree with you on that one. Taxes, ok, multiple arguments on what is the fairest system based on a whole many factors that contribute towards shaping a whole many aspects of society. Those earning more paying more isn't something I wholeheartedly disagree with, there's some element of civic duty in there within my moral sphere.

However, Grimsby Town is not a multi-faceted social ecosystem, it's a football club, that aims to provide entertainment. No gig has ever had a sliding scale of prices based on income, no restaurant has differing menu prices based on your earnings, I could go on but I'm sure you get the gist. Ticket prices differ based on the stand and the views and services they offer, and there are some concessions for things but the constant is anyone attending will see the same performance and as such the pricing should be consistent.

I've been both in and out of fortune where I can follow Town, I consider myself lucky that I have more financial freedom to do so at present and appreciate that isn't a luxury everyone can say, but in the times where I haven't been able to afford it I never had expectations that the club or wealthier people should subsidise a ticket just for my benefit. In that scenario people have to make decisions on what the priority is but it isn't for the club or others to solve the problem.

Other reasons fair enough but that's a bit strange reasoning on players leaving. They weren't our players. It will be the lowest squad turnover for years and in terms of new signings the window isn't open. I suspect the early bird price may be extended. The short window was set when we were still in the promotion hunt.

I would happily cover the cost of a reduced ticket price for a refugee to attend, even on my low pay!

They were the most skillful players last season though, in my opinion, and ones I was genuinely excited to see.

The rest could be described as 'workmanlike' with some bursts of decency. The fact that many will be here next season does make me think it is more likely to be a tough watch at home again, with a few bright spots.

I want players who will get me out of my seat, not those who will get me out of BP!

In all fairness if they get you out of BP they’ll also be getting you out of your seat

Think your point/concern is a valid one though tbh.. particularly hone games. As well as we did as regards the league table - the home games in the main weren’t ‘enjoyable’ .. imho no more than 3 or 4 were. Results business I know.. but people also have to justify their outlay or want to renew their season tickets, not just out of loyalty or routine. There’s plenty things the club and DA have improved. I think a better approach at home will be on their list to tick off next season.

I'll renew, as I've been sitting in the same seat for over 30 years. My Dad isn't renewing, though he is unwell and has struggled to find the desire to go at times this year! Will be weird to go to all matches without him, though he missed a good few of them last season.

It is almost a bit of a shock to have to get my ticket so early, but it is a seller's market if I want to keep my seat. It's easy for me to complain when I'm not the one losing the money.

The idea that a private business losing substantial amounts of money should reduce prices to certain groups (therefore losing even more money) whilst somehow charging wealthier punters more (how could you possibly means-test purchasers?) is clearly just daft trolling. The owners have committed to continuing to lose money each year for the foreseeable future so complaining they aren't willing to put their hands in their pockets even more seems a touch unfair.

I agree it is disappointing that the price of kids tickets have gone up a lot. Can't persuade mine to go, so won't affect me, however.

Not Trolling in the slightest, I am trying to make a vald point, just as you make a point regarding the price of Kids tickets, surely a few pounds increase in an adult ticket would and should subsidise the Children.
They are the future of the club after all.
The same argument could be made for refugees (or boat people).

Sport should include all, including the lower paid or economically inactive, why should we exclude anyone because they are less well off, or struggling in a low paid role, such as hard working Teachers, Nurses and Doctors, when there are wealthy individuals who can afford to pay a few pounds more.

500 in 3 days is quite good - reckon my nerdy poll thing will be close again between 4200 to 4400 by the end of early bird and probably 4800 come season start which roughly is in line with the vote ; looks about 300 new holders going off the seat map .

Led to believe that the ticket office wasn’t open again yesterday?

Can’t help but think that it would really boost sales if it was open one Saturday.

Should hopefully be a few more purchase this coming week. I think there’ll be a small decline in sales from last season, but that’s not necesssarily a bad thing. As we all know, people who buy tickets per match can struggle to find seats together - so hopefully a few more walk ins. Could add a little pressure/emphasis on the start to the season though? Need a good start and decent games at BP to draw people in?

If I’m guessing I think there’ll perhaps be around 400 less season tickets sold this season - but attendances won’t suffer overall, and hopefully if we can add to what we did last season the attendances might even be better by the end of the season. 🤞

Same with the end of season sale in the trust bar, if you work during the week it's closed by the time you finish and then not open on a saturday

Make that make sense because i can't

Looking at other teams sales i fully suspect we will be in the top 5 for ST sales

Only Notts and Chesterfield who have over 5k (5.7k each so far ) will definitely have more

Swindon 2100
Cambridge 1500
Cheltenham /Newport 1k a piece
Tranmere 3500
MK 3700

Hopefully top 5 attendances aswell if things go well as the league has emptied out of some the better supported clubs .

They are going to use the Easyjet model. They are going to call it EasyTicket. Seats will go on sale six weeks before game at  £10 rising to £25 as demand increases over the next 3 weeks. After then they will be £27 until kick-off. There will be a £10 priority quick entrance charge to beat the queues and give priority at the bars & food venders. But please note it will be extra to take a bag in, and .50p to use the loos.

If the football is bad you can always watch the gulls.

Pretty much where I am. I think it's reasonable to conclude tickets will go down a fraction this season, however to me that isn't a bad thing either on it's own given how many don't show up week on week. For me I think it's matchday attendances where the important numbers are. If we have abit of a go this year then I think matchday attendances go up in comparison to last year (5997). With less season tickets, that's even more money for the club per seat per game..

As you say, providing it is a small reduction there is also an added benefit - If availability options is increased slightly then possibly a few more of the casual fans can attend abit more and hopefully become less casual. I think Polly said none attendance rate is about 15% at games from ST holders. Always going to have some of that of course, but that's 800 untaken seats roughly - with I suspect not many released for sale. Travelling from London a few times this year it's been impossible to get a ticket for us all that's not in the Osmond. (something that I think is great to see considering our recent history btw!)

It's such a fine balance though isn't it?  We all know the value of selling your season tickets early doors, the cash is there in the bank and you've no worries about cash flow if you have a stinker of a season.

I think most of us are pretty confident of a decent season which should hopefully see actual tickets sold and bums on seats do well.  But there's always that risk that we don't do well and we don't sell any game-by-game tickets.  I also think the Sky factor comes in a bit here too.

The Accrington game last season just before Christmas.  Not at all attractive to leave the house for, on the box and the actual number of bums on seats was considerably less than the number of tickets sold.  I can imagine the actual number of match day tickets we sold for that were a couple of hundred.   A repeat of that this season combined a considerable drop off in Season Ticket sales leaves a considerable gap in the finances and that's just from one game.

Oh absolutely, fine balance for sure and not without risk. However with the caveats of it being small and us having a good season (forever an optimist!) I think it could be a good thing. But as you say isn’t without the risk.

That Accrington game was 2300 down on actual attendance to the seats sold . Colchester 1300 down . The range must have been wider the 2 seasons before for quite a few games as we sold 5800 ST's and only topped out averaging 6300 or whatever . We would have have averaged 7000+ that season if we used the other metric like the rest . I'm not saying ours is wrong but no one else uses it .

Too be fair it's looking nailed on for 5k + Again which is quite remarkable support. If ever they get it right here on and off the pitch we could still see 8k gates with no away fans.

I've renewed. I didn't think the renewal letter was particular warm, more like a reminder about a utility bill.

Yep, it closes for 6 days. Not entirely sure what the point of that is, Imagine it's to give the media abit of "Ooooooh look another DEADLINE DAY!".

Don't think it makes any difference to us, as any purchases are just dated when it opens as we see all over the place.

The six day are used to allocate seats to the 'Stand Waiting Lists' before un-renewd seat are offered for general sale.

It is a transfer window specifically for the club world cup, all of the FA's with teams going agreed to it to allow them to get players in for the tournament.

Oh yes, I know that. Just don't see the point in closing it for 6 days when there's a registration window for that tournament. As I say, possibly cynically, I suspect it has something to do with giving the media another deadline day circus.

Probably end up at about 5k circa 300 down. Given last years league position, best for years, a rise or at the same numbers could have been expected, but not in the current world of continual cost of living hits and many games on Sky.

Be interesting to see how other clubs have fared. Chesterfield and Notts have matched last season I think. Chesterfield are selling the cheapest STs in what used to be the away end. Why the feck we haven't done that I don't know.

It will be the third highest i think Limerick looking at other clubs numbers just the 2 you mention higher with possibly only Bristol Rovers and Oldham coming close after their promotion but they were at around 3.5k at the end of their earlybird window . About half the league are between 1-2k with honourable mentions to Swindon (3800) , Tranmere (3700) , Gillingham (3300) and Cambridge (2800)  .

The numbers although a slight drop off maybe are still top end in this  league , i agree about the away end idea  .

According to EFL rules, 10% of the stadium capacity has to be available for away fans. We can offer all visiting teams the corner, but if they demand more we HAVE to give it. We can’t sell season tickets for seats that might have to be given to the away club.

I think he meant more a flexible option that could be switched between the smaller and larger section at a cheaper rate possibly hence freeing up better seats in the natural home end and getting people through that otherwise won't/can't go .

Of course you can.

All the club needs to do is inform people when buying a ST in the main section of the Osmond that for a number of games they will be allocated an alternative seat in the corner section & for Cup games they might have to be allocated a seat in a different stand.

On the face of it ST early bird sales are down nearly 1,000 from 3 years ago when we returned to the EFL. That's probably not a fair reflection though as the prices increase gradually now (£20 a month) rather than a huge increase at the end of the early bird window like back in 2022-23.

I think we'll probably see a bit of a drop off from the 5,200 or so from last season due to another season of poor home form. Hopefully this will be the season to turn our fortunes at BP around.

I think they have a window now where those who bought overflow seats are allocated a seat before the unsold ones all go live on a first come first serve basis.

You can still put them in your basket at the early bird price online, dont know if they'd honour it.

I got an email yesterday with a video of DA urging to renew. I tried to buy a different seat, put it in my basket on my phone but then it all cut out.

Went to repeat on laptop at 3.55pm and that seat was showing as unavailable so presumably it was stuck somewhere as it assumed a purchase was being made. It's online again now at 394 so I'm torn.

Its live now plenty of premium seats available

Seems like the majority of non-renewals were in the pontoon which i find curious circa 400 available almost the same amount as the main stand

We give ourselves a hard time sometimes, but there must be few fanbases as tolerant to absolutely dogshit football at home for most of these last 20 years.

It’s that classic gambler’s mentality; “just one more time, this is the one, I can feel it!”.

That perfectly sums up my position. I haven't renewed this season, as I'm simply not enjoying it any more. I will still go to the odd game when the circumstances suit, but I'd rather be off in the hills somewhere nowadays. I enjoy it more.

That obviously means we will now have the best season in 2 decades.

It would be brilliant if we beat last season.
I saw a bloke on Facebook post that he wasn’t renewing because of the football on offer last season. Made me chuckle. Wonder where he’s been the last 20 years

There just isn't enough excitement to entice those who are wavering, so I can see his point.

Why do people go to matches? Lots of reasons but high on the list is seeing their team win, followed by winning with entertaining football with spills, thrills and goals.

It's certainly not just us - I've seen fans in other forums complaining about the lack of excitement in games as teams strive but usually fail to play the ultra passing game, trying to create the perfect goal type of football who seem more concerned with possession than anything else.

It's about time we started to play this so far mythical Grimsby way.

I've renewed but completely agree ref the lack of excitement at home games I want to see goals and attacking football. Town must be the only team that could be 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go and I'd still be in full panic mode.Buckley teams used to carry on and kill off teams that's what we need.

We need the team to stop looking like rabbits in the headlights, especially if there is a big crowd in. Oh, and conceding with the first effort on goal.

There won't be an enormous change in personnel so it's up to the players to change their mindset and take the game to our opponents from the start.
