DA confirmed to RH sport that Jake has had an operation to repair the severed patella tendon. 6months out likely.
Also commented on how it is a common goal type but that it shouldn’t expose players to edges that can cause that much damage.

Best wishes to Jake for his recovery and rehab.

Best of luck to Jake, that’s a horrible injury. Hope he makes a full and swift recovery.

I imagine we'll offer him a deal at the end of the season in a similar vein to Scannell in that he can continue his recovery at the club after his contract has expired.

Isn't only into the second year of a 3 year deal anyway?..
I've seen the images of that goal design, and whoever signed that off as "safe" hasn't got a scooby doo what they're talking about.
As an engineer I can see multiple points where you could sustain serious injury, and thank god he didn't catch his head, absolutely awful design and an investigation needs to take place as to how that got through QC/QA and sanctioned.

Was it an impact thing then or did he slice his leg open? Artell said he had a big cut or gash on his knee I think after the match? Either way sounds horrific and I wish him all the best.

Not sure but when they scored their first goal he takes a tumble into the back of the goal. Initially it looks pretty innocuous from distance but he must have landed on one of the sharp edges that have been mentioned. Amazing we haven’t heard of other players, especially keepers, having had injuries from that design.

Any common sense ground H and S official should be able to easily see the problem of sharp metal that is unprotected being a hazard in the event of a goal line fracas.

From published pictures, there should have been a protective guard over bare metal.

Skin vs metal = no contest !!

As it was a work based accident (players are obviously employed and in their place of work) involving major injury, the HSE should now be directly involved in investigating the severity of Eastwood's injury.

If their designer and manufacturer are found to be negligent with their risk assessment as to how those plates are fitted, then Eastwood in in line for civil compensation, not so much for loss of earnings, apart from any contractual win bonuses, but more for the loss of normal social and family life during recuperation.

Not good for the lad.
Swift recovery.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.
