Does anybody expect to see Eastwood get selected over Cartwright?
Neither fill me with confidence but Eastwood with his extra experience should be challenging better for a start.

Eastwood has played 50 games in the EFL, to Cartwright’s 27. There’s no meaningful gulf between them in terms of game time - they’re both inexperienced. Which does rather paint the picture of a very risky strategy in the summer.

Eastwood oozes low level Stuart Taylor.

What was the feeling like when Eastwood was on loan here around this time in 2021?

Cartwright (imo) is a lot better and looks more comfortable than Eastwood.

Eastwood was terrible when he had a run of games.  Cartwright did seem to improve but I feel his confidence has been knocked of late. (who's wouldn't be?)   He doesn't like low crosses and I feel he could have cut out some that led to goals IMO.  That said, he's made some important reaction saves. Fortunately, it's not my decision.

Wow never realised that I thought he was around 26/27 without looking so expected he'd have played well over 100 games.

He’s 27; just not played much.

Eastwood looks like a rabbit in the headlights, very skittish when the ball is coming to him. He's probably one of those players who is very capable in training, but struggles in the heat of battle, in front of a crowd. I've got no confidence in him whatsoever.

I think Cartwright looks as though he will develop into a good keeper, but he's still very young and inexperienced. Not ideal in a relegation battle.

Aye, the lack of fans during the covid relegation season was probably a factor in Eastwood appearing pretty capable at this level. He looks a very shaky keeper confidence wise, which of course is even more critical for keepers than other players.

And we paid a fee for him....

Eastwood needed to be taken out of it. Needed some time, like Cartwright did at first. If Cartwright needs that break, maybe Eastwood is ready and in a better place to step in.

This would be form dependent and whether Cartwright's form over many games has dropped. One game conceding lots won't give a full picture. I don't mind, either way. I'd leave it up to the manager and the information he gets from the GK coach to make that call.

No
The lad is getting hammered because of our lack of any type of defensive abilities.
Keep Harvey in to the end of the season when no doubt will go back to Hull.
Eastwood as a number 2 then get rid.

Just what was Hurst playing at setting up a squad with two goalkeepers who at the start of the season hadn't made 50 appearances in the EFL between them?! The whole squad he put together was severely lacking in EFL experience but that's just ridiculous.

I honestly think Cartwright will be a really good goalkeeper , it's just the wrong situation at the wrong time for me .

I can't understand the thinking behind the decision to let a senior keeper go without a senior replacement . It was strange , as Hurst always had his number 1 and a kid or no keeper on the bench .

He sort of went half and half on a promising kid and someone who had been throwing the ball (literally) in his net for Rochdale the previous season . Just bizarre .

I thought he was an improvement on the badly out of form McKeown. Big blow when he got injured that season, although McKeown came back improved for the rest.

Thought he started well this season but his confidence looks fragile, one error and he went to bits.

Surprised we've not seen Ben Garrett come in, or another experienced 'keeper. Nothing against Eastwood or indeed Cartwright, who will go onto have a fine career. This isn't the time for someone to learn their craft though. We need a Wayne Henderson as opposed to a Dean Henderson.

Edit: Just seen Garratt signed for Nantwich Town at Tier 8 of the pyramid. Local for him but with his pedigree that's a bit of a coup for them. https://www.nantwichtownfc.co.uk/dabbers-sign-former-crewe-goalkeeper-ben-garratt/

I’d take Pollock tbf. Starting regularly at Watford these days.

You might just want to look at how much/little EFL experience Max Crocombe had at the start of this season...

Also Aidan Davison hadn't played much in his career when AB brought him in.  Maybe keepers are a bit different...

Both of them fill me with fear  , Eastwood looks like he’s totally out of his depth and Cartwright looks better but not much better.

We must be the worst off for goalkeepers than any team in league

Bit surprised we never got or went for a new goalie in January (assuming we never) and either sent Cartwright back or paid Eastwood off. I do think Cartwright will be ok, and Eastwood perhaps wouldn't have cost much to pay off ?

I’m too young to comment on the Aidan Davison one. But Crocombe had just been number one and really impressive in a side that got promoted from the NL. Eastwood has had one season where he was number one anywhere and they got relegated whilst he was roundly considered by their fans to be crap. If you were given those situations but didn’t know either player, you’d take the one who was well thought of at a promotion winning team every day.

I’m actually slightly surprised Hull didn’t recall Cartwright (as Man Yoo did Henderson after they felt he wasn’t being properly looked after). Sure, he’s getting minutes under his belt for the first time in his career, but goalkeeping is a a hugely psychological craft, and picking the ball out of the net 5 or 6 times on a routine basis can’t be doing the kid’s development much good.

I think Cartwright has shown he’s got enough in his locker to have a decent career in the game - he’s still only 21 and this is his first season playing regular, men’s football. But there’s certainly a question as to whether, at this moment in time, we’re a good fit for one another.

Yes he’s a Gen Z after all. Who wants a job where there is  a lot of work to do?

I reckon a recall would really help us as we could get an emergency loan in.

I'm not entirely sure that is right, I assume Eastwood would qualify as a recognised keeper? So I don't see how we would qualify for an emergency loan unless he got injured!

Poor decision not to get another keeper in , obviously it’s not all the the keepers fault but by god we could have done with a old head between the sticks for the remainder of the season

I agree Harvey will no doubt make it but also agree that we could do with an experienced keeper as it’s not fair on him. I know he will be gutted to let as many goals in as he has but he’s probably been the busiest keeper in the league over the last few weeks because of what’s in front of him.

We'd have to do what the Allies did with the Irish fella in Escape to Victory.

No we couldn't as we have Eastwood so wouldn't be allowed.
