There was a time you could sneak onto the pitch at BP in the off season - I 'scored' at both ends with a tennis ball circa 1960 -  aka Ron Rafferty.
Now when I see us score I can think yep i've been there & done that.
Now it's back to the Home fo the Confused - Good Night  UTM.

We’re not that different. When I was your age I was sat at my desk boring myself with the ins and outs of the infamous “Scunny Honey” competition. My Lord they were awful.

Edit: I’ve found it! For those of you old enough to remember the early noughties, and by which I mean almost all of you, feel free to remind yourself of the best fanny Scunny had to offer (p.s. they were all serious):

In track and field, you can start sprinting after the gun sounds, but if your reaction time is quicker than .100 of a second, it’s still classed as a false start.

As quick as .100 of a second is, it’s still slower than you posting your original message and then posting your edit, providing the link to the Scunts of the Year. 😜

I bet that took a lot of finding! Those images have probably burnt a hole in your hard drive, icloud and, for 23 long years, your fänny addled mind.

Did you ever find out who contestant 24 was?

First game 29th October 1955...  Division 3 N... Beat Derby County 2- 1...  Promoted that season as Champions... Average attendance that season was just over 15,000... and the attendence against Derby that day was 19,989...   I had to have a stool to see over the barrier...  I was armed with a wooden rattle which would now be considered an offensive weapon...  Happy days... lol...

Amazing what people remember (and to be honest, I wish people would forget most of what I got up to at school, as you can probably imagine).

Interestingly, the DJ (Hirsty) that did that particular feature (Grass your mates up I think it was called) used to do midweek pub quizzes in the Barracuda and the Bootlegger, with his co-presenter Danny Oakes, who used to go by the moniker “Pimp Daddy Dog”.

Since it was cheaper to go out in the week (a quid a pint in many places) and you were less likely to get ID’d, I’d be out most weeks and once the quiz was done there would be hardly anyone about, so I got to know them both reasonably well. This helped when it came to shafting my old school mate who’d rather embarrassingly managed to simultaneously shít himself and vomit over his new girlfriend, trying to impress her by downing shots of cheap vodka. I think most of Lindsey school heard that story awkwardly recounted on breakfast radio.

Fast forward a good 15 or 16 years, and I would regularly bump into the two of them, along with a lass who used to present the Capital Breakfast show with them, in the tiny gym in the basement of my office building in Leeds. I’d bump into them all a good couple of times a week, until I didn’t see any of them for ages.

Forgot all about it until one day I bumped into Hirsty, only he was now a she. I try to be as accommodating and respectful as possible of this evolving, modern world we are living in but, blimey, it didn’t half catch me off guard. Trying to work out where you recognise someone from and then you’re like, fúcking hell, THAT’S who it is.

She now presents on another radio station, the name of which I forget. Anyway, back to your game of “who’s the oldest buggér on the fishy”…

On the contrary, the great abundance of life experience which many Fishy posters possess explains the tremendous footballing wisdom
for which the board is famous.

You could say, I suppose, that we're a bunch of deluded old gits mostly agreeing with one another unless/until we don't.

I strongly incline to the first viewpoint.

First game v York
Charlie Wright in goal
We won 4-3 I think
Before the game my mum and dad took us to Ramsden’s and bought me and my brother a toy Batman car that fired rockets out the back
My brother lost one of the rockets in the ground and dad replaced it with a swan Vesta matchstick
I have been to blundell park hundreds of times since
But never found the rocket lol

Born in Hull, lived in Cottingham until I was about 6. Dad took me to watch the Tigers at Boothferry Park, Waggy, Simpkin and all.

Moved over to Cleethorpes and never looked back, great place to live.

Started following Town in the late 70's, what a team, say no more.

So is Blundell Park.  :)

Also a former Lindsey pupil. Played against Chris Hargreaves there back in the day to reinforce my GTFC-ness!

I’m the same age as Chris and played with him for several years for various teams, assisting many of his bagful of goals, and also against him as he was at Lindsey and I was at Wintringham.

The Yoof obviously have better things to do with their time than moan about footy on one of those things from the dark ages before tiktok, a 'message board'.

As a teacher, I see how crap young people are at computer skills.  If it doesn't give instant gratification in some form, they can't be bothered.

56 Next week.  A relative whippersnapper here.

Was at Wintringham when Watford came to train on the pitch.  We were chucking stones at their goalie.  The late great Graham Taylor told us to behave or eff off!
