Especially when they have a show featuring Jim White and Simon Jordan voicing their expert football opinions, an ex Sky Sports News presenter and a failed football chairman.  :-/ I've seen numerous clips online with Martin Keown tearing his hair out trying to explain things to them. Painful

May be an unpopular opinion but I quite like Simon Jordan as a pundit. Read his book about a decade ago - one of the best football autobiographies I’ve read.

Disagree with Jordan on an awful awful lot. But generally enjoy him and Jim White. Not a big fan of the rest of the schedule though to be honest.

Jordan is odious, but I agree his book is a decent read and he at least offers, perhaps should say offered, an alternative view.

Like many he lost his way when he started to become a parody of himself.

TalkSport is an absolute toilet though.  Few years back I had an old car where anything electrical would fail.  The radio would only tune into two stations: TalkSport and Christian Rock.

It didn't take me long to re-discover that P.O.D had some worryingly catchy songs.

For anyone who thinks that TalkSport is ridiculous dross, you should listen to a podcast called Sports Horn, which is basically a full parody of the station. It hits every nail directly on the head, and is very funny.

He’s Blue Labour, more likely to be on Talksport than the Alexi Sayle Podcast or Novara Media.

Radio 4 did a comedy take on sportstalk a few years ago... look away now?  I remember laughing my head off at that I'll give sports horn a go

He has a certain knowledge, by no means misinformed or uneducated but I think there's certain aspects of the game you can only get from playing or coaching that seems to lead him into conflict with ex players he's been talking with, he tends to come across thinking his opinion is gospel at times. Neither like or dislike him, but not an opinion I tune into if I want a good analysis.

You mean he hates football players/managers/agents who lost him 50 million quid or whatever it was

The interview didn't really do JS or the subject justice. For a better overview of what he was being interviewed about, see his latest Guardian article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2023/apr/11/in-a-few-years-time-football-coaches-may-be-using-an-ai-assistant.

Genuinely interesting.

I did like the idea of us developing our own Alan Buckley AI - ChatAB.

Talk Sport ....?

Should be re-names to Talk Premier League as that pretty much dominates most of their schedule.

So after reading the article ...I can't help but think back to our previous owner and only now realising how far ahead of the game he was ....when he proudly declared checking if managers were any good with computers as part of the recruitment process. JF a true visionary.  😄

And then I expect he would buy the previous years FM at half price the moment the new version comes out and proudly declare we are using data analysis as well.

He’d get frustrated with Siri after hearing about this AI thing mind.

Oh you could never have an unpopular opinion on the fishy.  It might be true that you’ve been dining out on a poorly written, mildly humorous post for years but…. The fishy faithful hang on to your every word.

I don't mind Simon Jordan but I much preferd the days of Mike Parrey.

Well, I can’t speak for others but if anyone hangs onto my every word (and I’m not sure they they do), I would strongly advise that they don’t. A role model I do not pretend to be, nor would I make a good one.

But mate, I don’t know what’s going on in your life but I suspect there are more productive places to channel your frustrated energy than a semi-anonymous internet moniker and a 15 year old post on the fishy. Take care of yourself.

back to talksport. hate the station, theyd argue black is white just to provoke 'controversy' and their cricket coverage is pants, but talksport 2 has some much more considered stuff on the womens game and lower league footie

I can't listen to people winding each other up any more. Used to love it, now it's excruciating. It's like they're pushed into that studio and told to be as provocative as possible, and argue the toss over everything like my four-year-old does when he's insisting the grass is purple and I'm telling him the grass is green.
