Hopefully after the Luton result the team will be up for a game and the new boys looking to make an impression on their debut. Always feel like we don't do well against Crewe so would be nice to get a result.

Surprised (just from the stats) that Lloyd starts ahead of the other loanees. But PH has seen them all the last few days and I trust his judgement. A win today is massive for confidence, not just on the pitch but fans aswell. Utm

That's as good first half of a debut I've seen from a new striker for a while. I thought that Lloyd has been excellent, lost count of the amount of times he linked the play and took his goal well.

Good half from Town.

What a half.

We look good going forward. Our one touch passing in midfield has been good and some of our off the ball movement has been great.

We do look a little suspect when defending set pieces but they have alot of big guys in the side.

Lloyd and McAtee look like they've been playing together all season

The best way to describe Manny so far is rusty. I expect to see him replaced by Smith at some point as he looks a little leggy already.

Lino on our side is excrement (I've seen less grappling in the WWE), and the one on the otherside likes to wave his flag which will benefits us in the 2nd half..

Well we're 9 points off the promotion spot, with 3 games in hand. So given the display today and the debut goals, you might like to contemplate who's going to score to get those 9 points.

All things positive say book your place at Southampton.

That was an important and dominant victory. Well done to the lads. My mate of 57 years,, who is a staunch Alex fan, emailed me in the week and said they were having a torrid time. He hoped the Mariners would be distracted by the upcoming Cup replay. No sign of that, though.
Two years ago Creww were having a really good season in L1 but things have turned a bit sour for them and the loan system has played a role in that.

Good all round display !

Emmanuel seems very strong, passes well, drives forward, and puts in decent early crosses.

He got up and down the field well, and doesn't LOOK fast, but kept up with play all game.

Deceptive, but very effective in defence today, willing to go forward and assist going forward.

McAtee looked FAR more comfortable with a mobile forward around him and there was some neat interplay for a 1st game together.

Harry just didn't have his radar right today, or he could easily have had a couple of goals.

Let's hope that whatever happens in the cup-tie, that the main 11 today continue to play well. Future opponents will probably be a lot more difficult than this poor Crewe side.
Posted by: GhostDan, February 4, 2023, 5:52pm; Reply: 124
Excellent. I felt tired just watching Lloyd, McAtee and Clifton buzz about.

All the new signings looked the part and infinitely more effective than the players they replaced in the squad.  Hunt absolutely excellent aswell.

Must admit I was starting to get abit worried that we might get dragged into a relegation battle but we’ll be absolutely fine.

I think, they key is, not to totally melt down when we lose or overreact when we win. Sometimes a bit of calm, rational, pragmatic balance is missing on here. I honestly feel that the people who represent the club are absolutely 100% committed, giving their all, working through challenges and that’s good enough for me, win lose or draw. Everyone gets backing, time, patience. High standards. Best efforts. Honesty and commitment.

Totally agree. I'm not saying that PH has all the answers to our problems but he, and his coaching staff, are better placed to see what is required to improve us.
It could be that our unexpected promotion back into the FL left him unprepared and not quite sure what was required to cement our position back at this level. The crucial decisions will be taken at the end of the season when he has a better understanding of what is required to take us to the next level.

Shame about that terrible window eh?  ;)

Town’s transfer window before and after today’s game.

Instead of my regular Guinness, I had some Batemans VICTORY ale. Needless to say, it did the job, I'll get some more for Tuesday.

Oh, so clever red stars from those 'superior supporters' who obviously know better than PH, the coaching staff and the Head if Recruitment.

Hang on a sec. Been reading through the transfer window threads again and they're not that bad, mostly echoing what PH said himself about wanting one or two more in than he got and preferring permanent deals. He sounded miffed about missing one or two permanent targets, dumbfounded about players decisions. One I guess was Mullarkey going to possibly non-league bound Rochdale. The vast majority welcomed the new players and hoped they'd do well. Over the moon with the result today and new signings hitting the ground running, but it still stands they're not our players at the end of the season and we'll be back to square one again squad wise. Don't think there's much to choose between posters that slag off whatever the club does or those that wait like snipers to shoot down posters with sage like I told you sos. Didn't see you or others on here sticking your neck out saying we've had a great transfer window. Nope, you just hedge your bets to act like a clever trousers after the fact..

And let's not forget, this morning Crewe were above us in the table!

So if our team can give them a right hammering on their own patch, it suggests we need fear no one around us in mid table.

It will be interesting to see how we get on at Northampton in a couple of weeks time. That will give us an indication of how good we are at the moment.

Enjoyed this clip. From the well manicured ginger beard of Niall Maher, to the battle worn face of Luke Waterfall, panning straight to the markedly fresher, straight out of school look of Alex Hunt, to a somewhat knackered looking Efete, to an understandably emotional looking Josh Emmanuel, to a victorious McAtee and finally, to a brilliantly conductorial El General (that name needs to stick, btw). Scenes.
