[SOUND ON]
"We want Hendo out"
Angry scenes yesterday at York City's LNER Stadium as a large proportion of the home fans join in a stand-up protest against owner and chairman Glen Henderson, who responded by giving the fans a two fingered reply.
The fans have been angry since popular manager John Askey was sacked in November, which they believe was due to the fact that Askey considered Henderson's son not worthy of a contract as a player.

Almost all owners have big egos, it's part and parcel of being successful, some do it in different ways and to different extents. And don't for one second think our owner who used the position to get a column in the Guardian and push his philosophy isn't one of those.

Can you tell us a bit more about the ego on Stockwood's predecessor please?

York city have a long history of owners that the fans have turned against.

Suggesting that becoming the owner of GTFC was a play to get a guardian column is plainly and characteristically daft.

I didn't say he bought the club to get a Guardian column. I have no doubt that he has the best intentions for the club at heart. My point is that he has a pretty big ego to seek publicity in that way.

You think he is doing the article for himself and not getting Grimsby on the map which in turn helps generate income through advertising.

How do you know he "seeks publicity". Ever thought as a successful businessman he knows what he's talking about and The Guardian merely seek out his expertise.

Do you know for sure he did that? Maybe the Guardian approached him for all we know.

He had written articles for other publications before he became a football chairman.

Of course he hasn’t thought about that.

Do you know if he approached them, or if they approached him? Id say he presents as intelligent, articulate, composed and quite humble. Not an egotist at all.

Spending a few million quid on a conference-bound football team in a provincial backwater to guarantee 500 words in the Guardian once every 2 months.

I knew Stockwood was a good businessman, but this must be his smartest move yet!

Aye, egos…some get a column in the Guardian, some waste a million quid chasing a non existent dream, promise the town a flipping enormous white palm tree and become business partners with a convicted fraudster to massage their ego…

He wrote a successful book before he even took over Town. If they wanted a club owner they could have picked someone a bit more prominent.

I thought we had two owners? You seem to have completely forgotten the other one, you know the one that has an ego so big he doesn't need to write a column in a newspaper but blatantly advertises himself by the medium of sausages.

You appear to have a bigger ego than our TWO owners combined.Yet I don't believe you are successful.
