My dad has got dementia, and it's now got to the stage where my mum is looking for some help from carers for a couple of hours, a couple of days a week.
Has any got any experience of the different care companies and who would you recommend?

I’m very sorry to hear that.

My better half is in her last few weeks of her nursing degree and she does personal care as well as banking for Harrison house and the hospital. She’s worked in care homes and so can ask there if need be.

She is on placement at the minute but I will text her and find out who she’d recommend or perhaps equally or more importantly who to stay away from.

Hi, yes there is care available, ( my husband has asked me to send this message ).
Admiral Nurses are an excellent source and specialise in supporting carers living with those with dementia. The Admiral Nurses are based at Navigo House, You could contact them via single point of access on 256256 and ask for option 3.
There are also lot's of care agencies within the area too such as Hales, however another arm of Navigo is called Nurtrio ( based at the Eleanor Centre and they offer personal care too.)
Hope this helps.

If your Dad has a dementia diagnosis, I think your Mum should already been put in touch with the Admiral nurses? They are very helpful and know how the system works so can provide a lot of advice and other assistance.

No doubt about it, though, we need a National Care Service to run alongside the NHS.
