It apparently dropped to -4C in Mansfield overnight (https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/observations/gcrnkg071) so somewhat ominous they're doing a pitch inspection today. You'd assume if it still passes today the match will be going ahead since it's only meant to be dropping to -1C tonight, and then a tropical 3C is forecast for the match itself.

I assume its a case of the temperatures tonight will be similar to last night.. if the pitch is OK at 2pm today then it should be OK for 2pm tomorrow when the players start to come out to warm up etc

Makes me a bit concerned tbh, sounds like Mansfield aren't confident that the covers have protected the pitch enough...fingers crossed it's on, otherwise I'm getting dragged around the shops by my other half!

You could always watch the Croatia v Morocco World Cup Third Place Play-Off game, can't see that being postponed due to a frozen pitch  ;)

You could tell your Mrs that shopping on a Sat is not always so clear cut.  In Germany many of the shops are closed on a Sat afternoon.  Could tell her (truthfully) that you know some good shops  will be closed.  (Just omit the German reference).  😀😁

Just man up and tell the mrs who’s boss and that you’ll do what you want

Not that I’ve ever thought about trying that route!

Thought I'd be good and paint the bedroom. Got paint out of shed - "Oops" - it's frozen solid. Been told you have to thaw out slowly so put it in fridge. Does anybody know how long it will take.

Already  + 2 C in Hillsborough, ice melting and ground softening. What was wrong with a 10.30 pitch inspection?

Considering watching Wednesday v Oxford. Bet Hursty's there to scout a player or two.

Good, I'm staying at my daughter's in Sheffield over the weekend, (Norfolk Park) setting off shortly.

They haven't got a TV so I'm taking my Chromebook to watch the World Cup footy.

Barnsley is on as far as I know. They have undersoil heating. £20 adults so concessions will be less.

I'm off to Worksop v Stockton. Worksop have an artificial pitch and its a top of the table clash. Good programme and I know a good caff ten minutes away. Bus into Donny and another bus out. Sorted!

I went to see Gainsborough Trinity U21 last night. I was relieved to get a game in!

Thought about going to Wednesday but it's two lengthy bus rides and a tram from here.

A few days ago was hoping it would be called off as w/e  in Manchester with dinner & dj tonight but got that grotty chesty cold and can't shake it off so not going and £120 down the drain. Can't even cheer myself up with watching the game now instead :o

Sorry about the rain and state of the City Centre. Hope you had a safe journey. Bet it's either Meadowhell or IKEA tomorrow!

It's only a ten minute walk to the ground but I still haven't decided!  I admire your commitment to local footy.

How the hell has Barrow managed to get their game on. The only one in the Division.

It's historically warmer on the west coast.

Knowing our luck there’ll be a waterlogged pitch at Harrogate next week as well!

Just Back....... SWFC 0  V  Oxford  0

Dashed down the road at 10 to 3 to the cash only turnstile expecting to pay a concession price of £14 for The Kop. Luckily, someone was selling a STH seat for a tenner. Brilliant seat on the half way line in the North Stand.

The game was dire and the crowd of nearly 23000 even worse.  Oxford carved a few excellent chances but neither team worked the keeper enough. They missed a disputed penalty in the 97th minute.

Wednesday were missing Bannan, their playmaker. Darren Moore is criticised for signing too many hard working but similar players. Possession was often wasted and our old friend Mr Stockbridge, the ref, infuriated the OWLS with his inability to punish Oxford's timewasting and shithousery.

Wednesday are in the playoffs but the fans will need to be patient till their manager signs a fox in the box to finish all the chances the water carriers create.

Some boos at the end for a team third in the table. Fans eh!

I've seen an FA YC game at Wednesday this season. I've watched the Blades U21 side too. That's £1 admission for those over 60 and you get to sit in the posh seats after entering through the Platinum Suite.

844 at Worksop for the game against Stockton. 1 0 to the home side who missed a penalty. Cracking game. Had a good day out.
