I fully appreciate he is a class or League above, but if Ull don't want Andy Smith we have got to sign him on a permanent.  Things in our favour is he is a first choice and fan favourite. Here's hoping 🙏

Hr was immense today. Hard to recognise how young he is.

Apart from 1 game, he has been excellent all season and MOM or near in most games. He would be a very good signing for us but has just signed a 2 year deal with Hull in July.

I wonder what he would cost as Hull would certainly want a fee, even though he has played a league first team game for them.

Or just do what we have done and loan him from Hull for the season. Best of both worlds for both clubs and financially probably better for him and us…

I’d suggest we enjoy watching him while we’ve got him. Good player now but has massive potential.

We won’t get him permanently but what I would say is that he clearly feels part of it here which is a credit to PH and the lad.

Unreal yesterday.

The last two weeks were real challenges against physical strikers. Understandably, the strikers tried to stick to Smith more than Waterfall but he never gave them an inch and handled the physicality brilliantly. Him and Waterfall have formed a very strong partnership.

Andy Smiths future at Hull probably depends on who is in charge next summer. Someone like Andy Dawson probably knows him quite well and would be more inclined to give him a chance than an international manager.

There’ll be scouts watching our games regularly and it’s inconceivable that he won’t be in the thoughts of clubs above league 2

I agree with this. Although I suspect we’d have to get promoted again to get him back next season as I’m sure a few L1 clubs will be sniffing around for him on loan next season. Hull won’t want him spending another season in L2. Only issue with that could be if Hull are playing in L1, which is by no  means impossible!

I think our only real chance of signing him is if we manage another promotion…

Could hull sell him this season ?

Waterfalls apprentice - he's teaching him well.

Smith is another reminder of how Hurst sees things that others don’t. Couldn’t get a sniff while on loan at Salford last season, and no undoubtedly one of the best devotee halves in League Two having just turned 21.

Several other players on that pitch yesterday that weren’t fancied by League Two sides (or below) in the past couple of years; Crocombe, Efete and Taylor to name just three.

I can see 'ull calling him back before the end of the season.

Don't quote me on it but I think Hurst said there is no recall clause in his loan.

There is on Football Manager 2023.

Smith won tackles yesterday that seems hardly possible. A huge talent. I hope Stockwood and Hurst pull out all the stops in January to sign him full time. Him and Waterfall are the strongest central defensive pairing we have had for decades.

My take is i would sign smith in a heartbeat but i'm afraid his form at this present time dictates we will only have him till end of loan
