Ive just been looking at our fixtures and have noticed we only have 2 league matches in November on the 12th and 19th but then nothing until 3rd of December.

Is it around that time that we have cup matches or does the League take a 2 week break (hence the early start to the season)

i believe that is Round 2 FA Cup weekend 26th November

1st Round is around the 5th as i am always at Skeggy Butlins for one of their music weekends

Just be the first round of the cup on the 5th and the second round on the 26th won't it?

Ah right. So its more of a 'keep the weekend free' sort of thing.

But what was the reason for the early start to the season?

Possibly because those that run the EFL have half a brain and don’t want the season to last until June like those fukwits in the NL

I hope your opening song is 'Up The Mariners' followed by a medley of songs from the Pontoon. Have a nice weekend and bring me a stick of rock.

The Champo does stop for the World Cup.

I don't think there's a break for L2 - FA Cup is on the weekend of the 26th I believe.

Bit concerning really.
Great to get Mcatee on loan, but we will be without him during the world cup i guess....

But it's the Championship which is stopping and not League 1 and League 2.

The Championship normally loses 3 Saturday fixtures for the September, October & November international breaks. This season there's only 1 international break prior to the World Cup in late September. The Championship then stops for 26 days from the World Cup call-up date to the Quarter-Final weekend. So the Championship is losing a combined 4 Saturdays compared to the usual 3. They have got that Saturday back by starting a week early.

League 1 & League 2 isn't stopping for the World Cup. Starting a week earlier just means that this season we will have 1 more Saturday fixture and 1 less midweek fixtures than in a normal L2 season.
