A lot of you will know that back in 2008 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Although the tumour was not cancerous there were a lot of complications with the operation and it took them the best part of 4 years and 7 further operation to finally get me sorted out.

Since than I have been fine but I am still officially under the care of Hull Royal Infirmary and go back there every year for an MRI scan. Thankfully all my scans have shown no sign of any regrowth and I have just had a letter to say that my surgeon will be ringing me on June 21st at 3pm.

I am really hoping that he is going to say that they are finally sure that everything is okay and that they are officially going to discharge me so I won't have to keep going back to Hull for any more MRIs. I don't know if anyone here have had an MRI on the head but it's a horrible experience but obviously a necessary evil. I'm keeping all my fingers crossed that it'll be good news when he calls.

No idea. Not had a call yet!!

Just had the call.

It was my actual surgeon who rang and he apologies for the lateness of the call as he has been performing an operation.

It was exactly what I expected and he says he sees no need for any further scans and I have now officially been discharged from their care.  :)

If I do ever have any concerns in the future to see my GP.

Great news Les.

No better feeling than being discharged from treatment by your surgeon after a series of tests. Puts a bounce in your step, though my experience wasn't as serious or as drawn out as yours.

Thanks for the good wishes lads.

At least I won't be waiting for my MRI scan appointment to be dropping through my letterbox each year.

I'm perfectly fine now and double checked with him that I'll be okay to keep taking my anti-seizure meds long term as if I was to come off them and have another seizure then I'd lose my driving license again and I don't want that happening. He said there's no problem staying on them long term and I do have a medical exemption certificiate so get my prescriptions free, so it's no skin of my nose just to carry on taking them.
